ggg-2 3,553 May 25, 2014 Share May 25, 2014 Yep, just something that popped into my mind. Soarin' is MUCH more laidback than Spitfire or any of the other Wonderbolts, so do you think he would have dealt with Lightning Dust any differently if he was the one in charge at the time? 1 Don't be a nerd. Khaoios 1,970 May 25, 2014 Share May 25, 2014 My waifu, Spitfire, is the Captain and most likely she's the only one in charge, However...............im not sure if Soarin would've made a different choice. Although, he is laidback, so i think he would've let it slide to an extent. Spitfire on the other hand, as i mentioned, is more tough as nails and doesn't tolerate "shit" in a way so yeah.........her attitude says is all. NavelColt 22,881 May 25, 2014 Share May 25, 2014 I'd say so. Though I can't say what he would do, as I can't even guess. As far as we know, Soarin is not trained as a Drill Sergeant as Spitfire was, as he's not the team Captain, was seen nowhere in the Academy to boot, is unlikely to have such responsibilities, etc. He appears to be borderline incapable of such a job that would require him to be a hard-ass (as hard-ass as ponies in a TVY show can be), as he appears to have one of the most gentle, passive and carefree demeanors we've seen, especially from a stallion.

I concur......he's too "relaxed" and "gentle" type of character. Funny, he reminds me of Forrest Gump for some reason. 1 XBL: Riot Rojas 3DS Friend Code: 5300 - 9568 - 7902 WEB/CHANNEL: THREADS: Youtube - ThunderColt Studios MLP:FIM - Wrath of the Ancients Fan Fictions Weebly - ThunderColt Studios MLP:FIM: The Day Equestria Stood Still - Volunteers Wanted

All we know about him is that he got injured, is forgiving and that he really likes pie. We didn't even know Spitty was a hardass until Wonderbolt Academy. Might as well add.............the box of chocolates. Maybe it isn't enough for you or some others, but it doesn't take several episodes full of lines to have an idea about how a character more or less is, for me I agreed with Spitfire's hard-ass depiction, because it made sense. She's a Captain of a disciplined team of fliers. One doesn't do that without having a stern side. But there's no ground of argument in sight to fight for, if Soarin had the same kind of hard-ass capabilities x)

Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 May 25, 2014 Share May 25, 2014 To be honest if Soarin' was in charge I think he might have actually been just fine. After all, while Spitfire was impressed at first and a little blinded by Lightning Dust's performance, Soarin's laid back nature might have allowed him to see that what LIghtning Dust was reckless endangerment. And then he would promptly be bribed by a pie and it would all be swept under the rug. #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims

The logic is that Spitfire wanted nothing but results from her trainees, and even if Lightning Dust was reckless, she was bringing in results, causing Spitfire to turn a blindeye. Soarin' seems like an easy-going guy who wouldn't want to see other ponies getting hurt, so I think he would've taken better action than Spitfire in this case. But maybe that's just me. #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims
silvadel 1,393 May 25, 2014 Share May 25, 2014 (edited) Soarin would have made Dust a wingpony and Dust might be in the wonderbolts reserves by now. Lightning Dust is okay, just not leadership material -- yet. It was a real shame that she got put into such a position when she wasn't ready for it and washed out. Rainbow Dash might have made the same mistakes had she been in LD's place back before season 1. Edited May 25, 2014 by silvadel Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight. Truffles 2,033 May 25, 2014 Share May 25, 2014 Soarin' seems like an easy-going guy who wouldn't want to see other ponies getting hurt, so I think he would've taken better action than Spitfire in this case. But maybe that's just me. I agree with what you're saying here, and I think if Soarin' had been in charge, he would have made Rainbow Dash lead pony due to her better time in the initial trials and that he was at least somewhat familiar with her (hello Element of Loyalty right here in pony). Actually, if he had been in charge, the whole episode might have been different: He would not have made all the recruits do those laps at the start due to Lightning Dust's trying to make an impression, so RD and LD would not have been seen racing each other. Due to there being no real interaction between them, he might have paired them with different ponies, so RD would not have even had to go and complain to Soarin' about anything. (Well other than maybe her wing pony can't keep up with her. ) If LD had still decided to try and create the tornado that endangered the rest of the Mane 6, I guess I have to agree with the other posts in that Soarin' might have let LD's transgression slide and wouldn't have booted her out of the academy. He probably would have let her off with a warning to not try a stunt like that again and if she did it again only then would he kick her out. 1 Are you a Spike fan?
