My theory that Chrysalis is a fallen alicorn, also the green pods

There is no official origin story for her yet. I really think the changelings existed way before Discord came into power. I believe the changelings cycle through queens. Or would that destroy Chrysalis's character? I think it would be interesting. But I think in order to become a changeling queen. You need to possess amazing magical prowess and you must commit an act of hatred.

 

I believe Chrysalis used to be an alicorn who was most likely a student of Celestia. Chrysalis was arrogant and often rebelled against Celestia's wisdom. Chrysalis before becoming a changeling was very power hungry. She encountered the changeling queen and challenged her to a fight to the death. In order to become a changeling queen. You must fight and devour the essence of the original Queen. Chrysalis won and her transformation was complete. I will say she has been queen for 1000 years. I think it be interesting if she takes an interest in Twilight, maybe make her second in command of the changeling empire

 

Also what about the green pods? What purpose do they serve? 

I think they actually turn ponies into changelings. I mean why would they do this in the first place?

• Centuries ago, when the Crystal Empire was a prosperous kingdom before Sombra showed up, it used to have a Crystal Princess, much like Cadence is right now. That much I know has to be true, what with that one crystal pony proclaiming that "the crystal princess has returned". [From here it gets kinda dumb].

So why wasn't she able to stop Sombra from taking over?

 

 

Ba Boom.

 

Now, the Prince Guy wasn't trying to screw over the Empire or anything. Like the legend said, he just wanted to get himself a princess and foolishly made a love poison in an attempt to do so.

 

Unfortunately, he made the decision to give the poison to a princess that was tasked with safe guarding one of the most important kingdoms in the realm; if it goes down, all of Equestria might fall with it. So a good amount of sorrow and unhappiness overtaking the realm, Celestia and Luna head off to take Sombra down, which they do, but not before he makes the Empire vanish for a thousand years.

 

As for the chaos reigning part of the story, that's obviously Discord. Not sure about the dragon thing, but I'm sure we'll eventually see a dragon nemesis FROM A THOUSAND YEARS AGO!!!

 

 

But happened to the princess?

 

Well, after having her love and mind twisted and fumbled with while her kingdom and subjects fell, maybe she lost all sense of love.

 

Maybe she went a step farther and could no longer comprehend what real love actually is because the ability to feel real love was dashed from her soul.

 

Maybe she grew to hate love and saw it not as a genuine emotion and necessary for happiness, but as a thing to manipulate and use against others, as it was to herself.

 

Maybe she became heartless and cold. Cruel, even. Forgot the pony she used to be and lost her identity and conscious.

 

Maybe in her rejection of love, she failed to realize how much she'd need to feel loved.

 

But she could no longer feel love.

 

To her, it's just something she feeds off now.

My head canon from a while back.

 

I have two theories about where the other changelings come from:

 

1. They are ponies that have been completely drained of love (darker option).
2. Changelings are just a subspecies of pony like the bat-ponies, but they've been led astray and corrupted by Chrysalis, who was also a normal changeling before stuff went bad.

That theory of your just might be in season 4 of mlp, I hope they bring back the changelings in season 4, or what if the changelings have been secretly infiltrating ponie vill in season 3. Lyra did look very suspicious in many of the season 3 episodes

That's great theory.  I too think she was once an alicorn who gave up her power to save her people, but with her giving up her power she became an parasite.

As for the pods, I have to disagree with the idea that they turn ponies into Changelings. First, why would the changelings turn their food into more changelings? They are losing more food by doing that. If anything the pods are used to hold ponies so they don't get away. The pods may also neutralize magic, flying, and earth pony powers. In the comics they used them to hold ponies. Thats what I think the pods are for.

Princess Celestia had some wild spontaneous years in high school, and well after 4 bottles of tequila that strapping young man Baxter Stockman started looking quite good to her. Thus her freaky insect daughter was born. They should release it as The Fly 3.

Well Celestia did a pretty poor job at covering it up. Seeing as there is a Holiday based around Nightmare Moon and the fact you can read about Luna turing into Nightmare Moon in a book at any library. As for know one knowing it could have just been a story everyone forgotten or bad writhing.

I think Chrysalis was born changeling. Maybe she rose to the rank of queen in an epic manner, but I think she's always been a changeling.

 

As for the pods, they hold ponies and inhibit their magic. That's why Cadence needed Twilight to zap that little bit off of her hooves. She couldn't do it herself, because the goo prevented her.

The whole Chrysalis thing is kinda unlikely but I don't think Changelings really convert ponies into changelings. After all why convert what you can eat. 

 

Celestia was just being used as a power generator basically as her love for her subjects is pretty strong.

I actually have this entire theory about Queen Cheeselegs.

Queen Chrysalis used to be the former Element of Kindness. The most beautiful, and the nicest alicorn in all of the land. She was also powerful. In fact, she was chosen for a mission to destroy the  Changeling Queen.

Back then, the government of Ponyville knew nothing about the changelings except their ability to feed off love.

Yadda yadda, she fought slain that Changeling Queen afterwards.

Few months later, she was getting married. Knowing that changelings can attack the wedding, they put up a force-field on the wedding place.

A day later, the former Element of Kindness was found missing. As it turns out, the changelings secretly shape-shifted into normal ponies to infiltrate the wedding before the force-field was even set up. The other vital info that they did not know is if a changeling queen dies, the remaining Changelings find a suitable replacement out of their own kind. If they didn't see any other changelings to be queen, they decide to capture and mutate other ponies, most often slayers of the former Changeling Queens. They also do this to avenge their fallen matriarchs.

The former Element of Kindness was subjected into a horrible process of mutation inside a green pod, shutting off her abilities to feel love, forcefully inserted with Changeling DNA.

 

Thus, Queen Chrysalis was born.

I think a good recommendation if you haven't already is to read the comic book #1-3 i think. As they get into what the pods do and more about the changelings and Chrysais. Those comics have expanded what was cannon and while there is some latitude in being apart from the show they worth checking out if you wanna get further information about them both,
