A blood chilling dream.

I don't know what's causing them but for the last two or three nights in a row I've been having these weird dreams. Last night was the worst one yet. I was inside this huge house one evening. There was a knock at the door and three men, dressed as police or other officials, were standing outside. I opened the door and instead of talking to me they nonchalantly walked in without saying a word. I asked the last one, "Hey, what's going on?"

He raised a gun, pointed it at my face and BANG!

I didn't even see the muzzle flash. All I did was hear the gun discharging and felt a very brief excruciating pain. Then everything was black. I could no longer see, hear, feel, or smell anything. I knew I was dead. Wait a second, if I am dead, how can I think or know anything? I then figured this was either the afterlife or I was dreaming. A few seconds later, I woke up in a cold sweat.

This isn't the first time I've dreamed about dying. But most of the times it happened in the past, I woke up right away. One sobering thought is that many people get shot to death for real every day. :( I also told my roommate about this. She said that she never died in a dream and she was told that if you die in a dream you die in real life.

I've had a few things weighing on my mind lately and I wonder if this dream is somehow related.

I've had similar dreams before. I've also been "shot" in dreams before. The brief excruciating pain, and then everything going black. It feels so real, doesn't it?

Though, when it comes to dying in dreams I'd rather be shot than be killed by zombies. I've been killed by zombies way too many times in dreams. Just thinking about how their teeth feel on my neck gives me the chills.

Dreams are determined by lots of things, Wingnut. Hopefully you didn't have a revelation, and it was just that; a dream.

Thanks for the feedback everybody.  :)

Mikami, interesting you've had that type of dream too.  I've been "shot" a few times before, but I woke up right away the previous times.  And while I've never been attacked by zombies I was mauled to death by a tiger once.

Makusu, I've been having strange dreams for a few days now relating to past events.  But this was different and a lot worse.

Thanks a lot, Reaper.  :P

Well, since you apparently die in real life when you die in a dream (so says Hollywood, and Hollywood never lied to me!), then we have two choices. In order to be still posting you must either be: 1) Still in the dream. or 2) A zombie.

Poor zombie Wingnut. ;)

Dude, I've had one dream where I died multiple times instead of just one in some pretty glorious grotesque ways. There were other dreams where I died as well. If you truly die when you die in dreams, I'd be a dead cat by now

I'm also resisting the urge to comment on police brutality in the USA...

Since it's bothering you a lot, it's good that you reflect on it and talk about it when you feel like it.

I've been shot in a dream before, but I didn't feel any pain as far as I can remember. However, I've been stabbed in dreams before, and I felt excruciating pain, and it felt real...it was not fun.

I've had similar dreams many times before. Every time I would also be armed but in a way that I still couldn't defend myself, such as having a sword when people were shooting at me from across a big room or having gun with no ammunition. Eventually they passed, and I can only imagine that yours will too. Every now and then one happens but isn't recurring.

Never could pin down any circumstances in my life that would lead me to dream about that. Aren't dreams usually related to something you have going on or recently experienced? If they are, then mine really made no sense. If whatever has been weighing on your mind concludes then I guess the dreams will too. If you ever need to chat about them, just hit me up.
