It doesn't make them cool, it simply makes them just like the other drooling tools that do that. It's an insecurity issue. If you want to be cool, learn how to live on your own. Learn to be cultured. Class is for men swag is for boys.

Personally, I pride myself on my ability to make good on my survival instincts and NOT do stupid and dangerous shit just because it seems cool.

I heard some of my classmates even did some cinnamon challenge. They would try to go on eating cinnamon as long as possible without saying ouch. If that stuff gets into your lungs, it could burn your lungs up! I seriously wonder about them...
