The curious case of the disappearing member

Princess Periwinkle

Once upon a time, a user joined the forums. Around the end of May, it was, and she posted an intro thread as do many new users. It wasn't a super special intro post, but I responded to it and we hit off a little bit.

The post actually got pretty popular, gaining a second page due to the influx of replies. The user went on a posting spree... She was on top of the "Top 20 posters" list for a while. I was excited for a new friend and active user, one who was not only active but made quality posts. And everything looked great.

The user also posted a status update. It was along the lines of "nice community feeling here" and such. Cool, right?

Then... She disappeared. A mere four days after registering, she logged off and hasn't been seen since on the Forums or on Twitter.

I dunno... It just got me wondering. I'm very curious as to the reason because there are a lot of varying ones. My guess... Aliens.

Oh... Why am I posting this? Not sure. It's just been on my mind. Bonus points if you know who the member is.

Honest opinion? For every pony who loudly writes a Journal Entry on leaving and whines about it, there are ten who understand that sometimes discretion is the better part of valour and thus will just one day stop visiting.

For reasoning, it varies. It could be as simple as having RL commitments or just generally being bored with the place. It could be something much darker, but I could find nothing that suggests anything of the sort from his recent posts and status updates.

Generally, the people who just stop visiting though have the right idea. It is probably best to be forgotten about in best case. Y'know, assuming you haven't done anything stupid -_-

Maybe forum ADHD.

Or she started partying.

Or she's on a solitary journey to find enlightenment.

Or meth.

That's how it goes sometimes.  I personally think it's better to leave quietly rather than burning bridges.  There's always a chance she'll come back.

It sounds like they simply lost interest in the forums after a short burst of 'wanderlust' as it were. Forums, in general, just aren't as popular as they once were. But as Wingnut said, who knows, there's a chance they'll come back.
