  1. Many people also mirrored my thoughts.. In short, I'm pleased with the episode. When I first heard the rumours that Discord was to be reformed, I was like "Noooooo, whhhhyyyy??! He wasn't all that 'evil' to begin with, just chaotic.", but then saw the episode and was... well, it was believable. Discord was great, simply awesome actually, and the way his "reformation" came about did actually kinda work (particularly with the line "I'll use my magic for good instead of evil .... *most* of the time."). But, I do indeed agree that it was quite rushed, it really could've been better as a two-parter. Midway into the plot - that is, three quarters of the episode - I had to remind myself that it was a ONE parter. I really hope that they do indeed make him a more regularly character, and that they show him not always being good - for example, living in Celestia's palace, in his own room, where everything's totally wacky and he may have some crazy "housepets", or when somepony walks in they are effected by his reality (losing wings or horns, or whatever); and someone points this out that he was *supposed* to be behaving himself, and he says something like how Celestia told him to make himself at home. I dunno, my last thought after the episode was: This CANNOT be the end, this now has to be an ongoing plot!
  2. I say, blame it on Discord! He's always a good excuse, no? Or somehow, she was punished by Celestia/the elements/whatever. Or say it has something to do with her background, how she was raised - maybe that's what her parents spoke, and all she ever learned?
  3. I've got one: The most dense part of the human body is the head. This pun explains a lot, does it not? Sorry, that sucked... I'm very sorry.
  4. Yeah, darken the purple outlines just a bit. As for the tail, uhh... your choice. Seriously, what's wrong with the tail? Looks pretty good to me. It could be fluffed up and work, but.... why? This is an OC, right? Not to mention, it doesn't make the pony look any less cute as it is. But I do agree that a bit more shading is in need.
  5. I'd originaly understood that a "brony" was a fan-given term for non-target male fans... I know the term has become unisex, but don't quote understand how or why... as "brony" was, far as I understood, a mix of the words "brother" and "pony" or rather "brother pony".. As for the topic in question, that is, the original question, I'd just call her a "new ponyfan"? Or a filly? *^.^*
  6. Hmm, is it bad if I say a lot of episodes brought tears to my eyes? In particular, "Keep Calm and Flutter On"... I... sympathised with Discord's epiphany, and how hard he reacted to it.. But many episodes did..
  7. Thank you! Actually, it's earlier in the US than in Germany, but of course I'll cut you some slack. ;-) I have heard that, about the terms - that 'brony' is unisex - but was uncertain... hmm, then I guess I am indeed a brony? Heee, someone else like me, at least kind of! It just takes a marathon, in some cases, doesn't it? ---- I'm hoping I'm allowed to edit, as I had not seen MoonFeather's post.. MoonFeather, you hit it right on the nail! That is pretty much how I feel about the old series compared to FIM. With the children I'm watching, we occasionally watch the old series... that is, the movie with "The Smoooz" which was one of my fave MLP movies as a child, and find that... I am disappointed, and nothing about it really competes with the new series.
  8. Let us not forget that there was a generation of ponies where they introduced skinnier and taller figures, called "teen ponies" or something to that effect... can't remember a whole lot about them, but they were like 2nd or 3rd gen... and, back then, I thought they just looked way weird and wanted nothing to do with them, but the point remains that they were there and were already heading in this skinny direction that MLP: FIP has gone for. That aside, I have to agree with the person who said that it's simply changed to match the current interest - as the MLP show did change over the generations to try and best fit with the current animation budgets and target audience's interest. In my opinion, while I LOVED the first gen figures, I can say that these new MLP styled figures are way cuter - and I don't think that eating disorders has anything to do with it... this is, at least originally, a cartoon intended for children and to meet the current expectations of cartoon culture... that is, to update MLP to the current standards. As for who's buying most of the merchandise, I'd say it's a mix of the target audience and the older ponyfans (bronies or pegasisters, however you want to call them). I don't think that the figurines have gotten any more provacative compared to the originals, than the FIP series itself did compared to the earlier series; and I don't think it really looks more provacative. I also don't think that most parents who're going to be buying the toys for their kids are going to see the figurines as 'provacative'... .. unless they're looking for it, then it can, of course, be found... Reminds me of a quote: "If you go looking for evil, you're sure to find it all over the place.". That the older fans, that is, not 7-9 year olds, might find something extremely appealing... or provacative... or otherwise questionable about the figurines, I say leave them to their 'bit'. ;-)
  9. This.. I like this answer. The closest I could come to, is,.... probably laughter... unless stubborness is an element. But, really, Jessper put it best.
  10. You know, that is to say, Germany. Let's see here, how to introduce myself properly? Well, I'm Rosenrot, although you may simply call me Rose, as it's probably easier; I live in Germany and, obviously, I'm a ponyfan. Would call myself a pegasister, 'cept that I'm not a pegasus, and am also not sure whether or not I dare say I'm a brony (because I'm not exactly a brother). I guess it might be someone interesting to tell my story, although this is just a welcome thread and that might be a bit much - there are probably other threads for the hows and why's one became a fan... I'll just cut it down to saying that I am an old - that is, 1st gen - fan of ponies, and was skeptical of the new series (nothing against it, just not expecting much from the newest reincarnation) though, of course, more and more of my friends became fans and swore by it. I gave it a few chances - first episode being "Applebuck Season", and then seeing a few clips or parts of episodes. Eventially, I found out about Discord and was intregued enough simply by his design, that I had to check out the episode he premered in - "The Return of Harmony" - and while I was pleased about it, it only confirmed that Discord rocked, but didn't quite convince me of the series. I did give the series a few more tries, but kept coming back to "It's just not getting me.". Had another friend who had started out simularly, but was bronified in the end - and his recommendation was not to watch one or two 'great' episodes, but to just go on a marathon. In short, out of boredom, I did just that - decided to just go on a youtube marathon of the series.... well, that worked! I found myself not only having to admit that the series was pretty darn good, but that it was even better than the MLP I'd loved in my childhood. One thing that I had always said, is that I did admire the writers and how they listened to the fans - found out about Derpy when fans (and friends of mine) were just calling that before they made her fan-name canon - just for an example. And there you have it. My favourite characters are Discord (even after "Keep Calm and Flutter On"). He is a great 'villain', or antagonist, like his inspiration, Q (as a Star Trek Fan, I LOVE how simular they are). Plus: De Lancie is made of win!! And Spike, he's so cool, with his sweetness/cuteness, and his nack for having some witty, or at least funny/fitting, comment (sarcasm, in some situations) - and the eating of gemstones is a pretty neat detail! Of the "mane six", my fave character would have to be Applejack...because of her stubborn, get-the-job-done, hard-working-girl nature. Although I'll admit that I have a fondness for all of the mane characters. Another character that I love and hope to see more of, is Zecora - she is simply awesome! Though I can imagine she's difficult to write for. And I think I've gushed enough, for an introduction! Many ponyfans, at least on DA and the like, have OC's... I'll admit I don't have one yet - am working on one, but haven't found them yet. There you go.
