Yes, if they make the first move. But you shouldn't just step on spiders because you don't like them. That'd be like me shaving off your beard while you were asleep because I didn't like (but I like beards, so I'd never do that anyway).
Spiders are representations of good luck. I only kill them when they invade my personal space and try to crawl in my beard....or are anywhere near the shower.
