Indeed. I didn't think anything of it before though, until I saw the latest promo. It could happen but I'm sure the show will handle things well if it does.
What's interesting is that the latest promo doesn't actually show anything to indicate Twilight turning into an alicorn. The part where's she's floating and the rainbow beams go into her big crown thingy? Discord's statue is clearly visible in front of her beforehand.
