He was especially not good at being sensitive. "Ah. Well. Joining the Wonderbolts is a good goal. I suppose it is the equivalent of Celestia's magic school, for unicorns." He finished his cocoa, and continued looking at the container it had been in. "I wish you the best of luck."

In the distant future of Equestria, technology has advanced to the point modern-day tech is at in our world. Ponyville is a bustling metropolis, and Canterlot even more so. Cell phones, automobiles, electric lights. But something is very different from the Equestria we know and love. Something is missing: magic. There are no unicorns. There are no princesses, and instead the government is democratic. Pegasi do not control the weather. And furthermore, if you ask anypony on the street, they will likely tell you magic does not exist and never has. What a ridiculous concept! You will play a group of characters who are abruptly transported into the future of Ponyville with no warning by somepony, or something, who does not deign to reveal itself. The only information you have been given by this individual is that "You are the ones who can reverse the horrors that have been wrought upon Equestria" and other dramatic tripe like that. How are you expected to do that when you know nothing? I will be the Game Master, controlling the NPCs. As for the story, each player will have a significant impact on it, of course; I will simply be here to nudge it in the right direction in case of stagnation, or if the players get a bit off-track. Don't worry, I'll do my best to help keep you from feeling lost, because that is often what happens when one RPs in someone else's universe, and I know it ruins the experience and makes it hard to have fun. But, at the same time, spoiling all of the secrets will also ruin the experience, so I can't just tell you everything about this future world right off the bat. And, at the end of the day, your character IS completely new to this world, so a little bit of confusion is not out of place. :3 Please do not make more than one or two posts between my posts. This will ensure that you don't get ahead of the RP or the other players, and everyone should have a chance to post without going to bed and waking up to find that there are 15 or 30 new posts all made by two people. Don't worry, I will post once or twice a day if needed, so you should not have to wait too long normally. Since this RP may contain some combat situations, I will have to ask that you let me be the final judge of most of these. I will try my best to make everything fair, and I am not extremely controlling, or out to get you like some GMs. But we can't have your character being a one-pony army, no, no, that wouldn't do. Everypony should win some, and lose some. If you can't RP this well and be mature about it, I will have to ask you to leave, as much as I hate to do that kind of thing. Romance is allowed, but not at the expense of the rest of the RP. I'm all for some action-romance, but you're probably not going to find a place to snuggle up for very long and make googly eyes at each other. Just saying, you will want to be on your toes...so to speak. I mean...cause ponies don't have toes. You know what I mean. Don't get caught flat-footed. Flat-hooved? NEVER MIND Finally... this is just a hint. One of my rules for RPing is this: The more power your character has, the more it costs to have it. That means a lot of different things for a lot of different characters, and it's hard to make a general example, but it's just advice after all. I would hate for somepony I call friend to be hurt simply because they were close to me. Objectively...it is the best for everypony if I focus on my job." Silver focused on his cocoa, his expression remaining ever-neutral, fully prepared for the protest in response to his statement. His point of view was not a common one, or a popular one, even among other guards. It could be argued that it was unnecessary, but Silver did not think so. Of course, he had more reasons for staying away from friendships than the one he had stated, but he wasn't one for sharing personal stories with strangers. Or really anypony at all. At least, not without having it dragged out of him.

@ WinterStreak1990 "I was here on official business for the Princess, but it ran longer than I expected and now the storm is too bad to call a chariot." He took a careful sip from his drink. "I was advised to make the most of the delay and come here by my superior."

@IllusivePony Silver walked through the open door, nodding in thanks to the Saddle-Arabian pony who had permitted them entry. He removed his cloak and dusted the accumulated snow off from it with his magic, and then brushed his mane and tail clear of the white powder. Silver expressed his distaste for the weather with a barely discernible grimace. @WinterStreak1990 "Thank you for the kind words." Silver glanced at his drink. "And the cocoa."

@WinterStreak1990 Silver frowned, but took the cocoa with a nod. "That is not the first time I have been told that," he said. "It is not easy for me." A moment later he added, "I do not make bets." The wind continued its howling assault against the two stallions.

@WinterStreak1190 Silver looked over at the pegasus. As he spoke, an undertone of resigned annoyance was barely detectable in his neutral voice, though what the cause of it may be was anypony's guess. "Yes, I am a guard. And yes, I should be in Canterlot. My name is Silver Sheild. It it a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Flamestreak."

No, sorry, I don't really dress up at all ever. Jeans and a t-shirt are my perpetual choice of clothing.

Silver double checked the scroll he held tightly with his magic, and then the address near the door. Yes, this seemed to be the place. His cloak whipping around him as the wind picked up, blowing snowy powder off the ground and into the air around him, he gave three sharp knocks on the door. Normally Silver would not join frivolities such as this, but he was stuck in Ponyville due to the storm, which was due to continue for at least another day...and his superior had been encouraging him to loosen up. 'It will do you good to relax and visit with some ponies who aren't in mortal danger or part of the Guard,' she had said. He wasn't so sure about that, but he was willing to humor her.

Hello everybody! I've just started on this forum (I joined a year ago but never did anything really), and it seems to have a slightly more active role playing section than my other forum. So, I've decided to fly this idea past you guys! In the distant future of Equestria, technology has advanced to the point modern-day tech is at in our world. Well...here's where I want you guys' opinions. I have three different ideas: - I explain everything to you guys, and your characters start out born in the future era. - I don't explain everything to you guys, and your characters start out born in the past, time-travelling to the future, where they slowly discover the dark past/future's secrets. (Keeping in mind the future is malleable) - I don't explain things to you guys right off the bat, and you guys start off in the future era, but I hint at what happened slowly, so that while your characters might not get it, you will. What do you guys want? Are you even interested in this story? Feedback would be awesome! Even if it's to say you're not interested! If you do say that, though, please at least say why. Thank you! Edit: There will be more story than this, I just want to see how many people are interested before I waste my time typing out paragraphs that nobody will care about.

Motivation: As a member of the Royal Guard, he has been asked to travel into the jungle in the interest of the Princesses. If there is something in the jungle, the Princesses want somepony who can report back to them what it is, as well as keeping it out of the hooves of anypony who might seek to misuse it. And they want somepony who can come back ALIVE, not some defenseless noble. Weapons?: His magic. He may specialize in shields, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been trained to use it offensively as well. However, in terms of physical power, he is lacking, as he is only slightly larger than your average mare, and about as strong. Survival Skills?: He is not a forager or hunter; his survival skills lie in combat experience. He has fought a large number of monsters and lived, and he doubts the jungle will be the worst thing he has faced. Your Region: North America, Eastern Standard Time

Hmmmm...probably! But what is the story? What is your character?

Silver moved on to the next room. He was, truth to be told, surprised they hadn't moved out of step to give him some abuse. Nearly every noble in the palace enjoyed doing so. He had to give them credit for being professional. His mind wandered as he began to change the sheets on the bed in the next room. He didn't know where those ponies had come from, or how they had gotten so...evil-looking, for lack of a better word. He'd never seen them before Lady Rose had come, and he'd seen some things. He snorted. The Earth Ponies dared to accuse the Alicorns of 'genetic tampering' and here stood a full new species of ponies that, as far as he knew, the Earth Ponies had created themselves. He could very easily make the same assumption that they had of their princesses. Or, even more ironically, perhaps they had tampered with magic to make these monstrous pony guards. Silver hated hypocrites. With a passion. He began to wash the bedding, and was stopped momentarily by another twinge in his horn. He put his hoof to it, dropping the bedding in the wash-water on reflex, then after it had passed a few seconds later, resumed work. He casually surveyed the room to make sure nopony had noticed; if they had, naturally they would enjoy an excuse to give him a good whack.
