Parental Glideance (written by Josh Hamilton, known for some of the best Avatar episodes) is FIM's best episode since Lost Mark. Animation of the wings is amazing. Dash's parents feel genuine. Wonderbolts are likeable for once. Continuity is closely paid attention to. It has some of the best jokes of the season. Dash's rant at her parents is Putting Your Hoof Down's berating scene done correctly. It joins The Best Night Ever, Sisterhooves Social, The Cutie Map, Amending Fences, and Crusaders of the Lost Mark as FIM's platinum standard.
OTOH, Hard to Say Anything is one of the worst written episodes of the show. No attention to continuity. The CMCs have their worst characterization since The Show Stoppers. For Big Mac, ever. Stereo Pop is a contrived antagonist that blatantly parodies Bieber during his teenage days (and with that AUTOTUNE >(). None of the Disney/fairy tale parodies work in any way; Big Mac going over to force a kiss on Sugar Belle (who was unaware of his presence, but after waking up, was disgusted and wanted NOTHING to do with him) opens major implications of sexual harassment.
No, Rainbow Falls, PPOV, and Princess Spike are worse written (Hard didn't start going south until one-third of the way, but when it did, it went REALLY bad; the others started going real bad immediately and progressively worsened), but it's still awful. DHX could've done ANYTHING to make it good, enjoyable, or both, but didn't. Easily the first bad episode of Season 7.
