  1. While rereading the Narnia books, specifically the part where Aslan sacrifices himself to save Edmund in book 2, I came up with an interesting theory for why Celestia lost to Chrysalis at the Canterlot Wedding: She lost on purpose because she wanted Twilight and Cadence to win. Celestia, despite all her power and experience, knows it would be far too risky to have Equestria's defense rest entirely on her shoulders. There need to be others around who can fight on even when she can't. So that's why she keeps having Twilight and the others face all these threats and monsters that she could face herself. It's a way of training them for the serious situations - where Celestia can't solve it herself for some reason or another. In the first arc of the main IDW comics, we see Twilight fight and defeat Chrysalis by herself. This suggests that Chrysalis isn't really that strong after all - sure, she had been draining Cadence's power for a long time just before the wedding, but would that really be enough to make her stronger than a God-class alicorn who moves the sun around every single day without even sweating? I think not! Plus, the "Fiendship is Magic" comic for Nightmare Moon shows Celestia fighting her in a dream - and winning. Then in the Season 3 opening duo, there's a flashback where Celestia and Luna fight King Sombra - and win. Oh, and I'm pretty sure they defeated Tirek as well and sent him to Tartarus back in the pre-Nightmare Moon days. Also, Chrysalis has a comic in the Fiendship is Magic series as well - where Celestia defeats her so hard, she permanently damages her body and hair. That's where the holes in her legs come from. And these are just the victories we know about. Who knows what Celestia did in the thousand years when Nightmare Moon was banished? Finally, she says this in "Friends Forever" No. 3: So yeah, that settles it for me: Celestia could have defeated Chrysalis at the wedding, but decided to lose and take the risk so that the Mane 6 and Cadence could have a victory. If they had failed, she would have burst out of the cocoon, zapped Chrysalis with a plasma beam, and probably taken on the entire Changeling army by herself. But the gambit played off: Cadence and Shining Armor managed to use the power of love to win. And later in the Season 4 opener, Celestia and Luna were taken out by the Chaos seeds (I believe this works because the seeds are a creation of Discord, who has such insane reality-warping powers even God-class alicorns can't defeat him in a straight fight). But Twilight was there to work out what was wrong and save the day - so the harsh lessons did pay off (And again in the finales against Tirek and Starlight Glimmer). Yes, this is a bit complicated - and also rather risky. But it's worked so far - all threats have been defeated, and Celestia has her sister and two mortal alicorns (Flurry Heart is too young for this stuff - not gonna count her yet) to help out with any future problems. Oh, and one last thing: Celestia spent the thousand years of Nightmare Moon's banishment ruling Equestria pretty much by herself (perhaps she created some mortal alicorns who have all died of old age since then, but she was the only God-class), so she must know what she's doing. Besides, who am I to judge her actions? She's an immortal pony goddess, and I'm just a kinda-ordinary guy who watches cartoon ponies for fun. She's not even the same species! So what do you think of this idea, fellow Celestia fans? I'm gonna keep it as my headcanon for as long as it is possible - I sure hope it never gets disproven!
  2. Woah! That is one tubby Scoots - she'll never fly like that!
  3. Wow, that was deep - I love it! Thanks for posting!
  4. Hilarious! I love the contrast between them - Luna's looking all happy and munching popcorn, but Celestia is so nervous her horn is drooping.
  5. Very well said! I agree 100%. P.S. I can't help but notice the Pinkie emote in your post appears to be impaled on Celestia's horn.
  6. Now how the heck could a tiny blade possibly hurt, let alone kill, a thousand-year old alicorn princess? And who would even want to kill Celestia in the first place?
  7. The ad is for chocolate... I think. Sainsbury's is a British supermarket company.
  8. Somepony is in serious trouble for going too fast...
  9. The best princess wants new recruits for her personal guard!
  10. This is the best Christmas commercial I have ever seen - too good not to share, especially because it features friendship.
  11. Rainbow Dash would win because, according to scientific calculations made by this guy, her top speed is actually Mach 10.
  12. Hilarious! Great idea, bro.
  13. Well said, Blobulle! I'll second that.
  14. Aaaah! That is one of the creepiest pony drawings I have ever seen.
  15. How can you be so sure? I think RD loves somepony else:
  16. Rising: DASHIEEEEEEE!! *nuzzles her* Rainbow Dash: Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape! *POW*
  17. How many of you would fall for this? I probably would.
  18. Try using ProxFlow: It's a free browser extension that detects when a YouTube video is blocked and redirects your traffic to a proxy server in a different country so you can view the video anyway. I have it, and it works great for me because I live in Germany, where a lot of stuff is blocked due to strict music copyright laws.
  19. Yeah, I agree. For a work of art to be hyper-realistic, it needs to be the absolute best.
  20. Sharing a Coke with Luna would be awesome. Heck, sharing any beverage with her would be awesome.
  21. While catching up on Equestria Daily, I discovered this: The Rebels were struggling enough as is, but when Dash joined the fray, several of their top commanders were quickly corralled up and dropped off for large sums of money. Dash used it to pay back her Wonderbolts Academy student debt, but quickly realized that the freedom of traveling the galaxy hunting down the ultimate prey was much more of a rush for an adrenaline junkie like herself. As the Empire flourished with their new ultimate bounty duo, new contracts came in at an almost constant rate, and Dashie Fett Bounties LLC became a household name with it's own reality TV series and action figures.
  22. Great idea! I was considering that too - it's so calm, yet still contains an aura of mystery and possible tragedy, kinda like Luna herself. The only other possible theme song I can think of would be MandoPony's "I Am No Hero": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-z3bwizLYg
