Applejack couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at Groovi's pre-kick ritual. Certainly she had her own little quirks when she was getting ready for a rodeo, but spontaneously composing poetry was not among them. Still, it seemed to give her the motivation needed to give the tree a much better strike, and a satisfying number of the apples were dislodged from the branches this time. "Now that's more like it!" she said encouragingly.Helping to pick up the few strays, she then lifted the baskets onto the cart. "Keep doin' it like that and we'll have 'er done in no time."

With that, she started towards the next trees. "Y'all take that side of the row, and I'll take this one." she said. Spreading the baskets around the base of her next tree, she looked up. "So, how'd y'all get into the fancy poetry, anyway? It's sure like nothin' I ever heard before."

Applejack was having flashbacks to when she spent several days a very odd shade of blue. Discord was laying it on thick, she thought, and that usually didn't end well at all, for any pony. Twilight sounded like she was thinking the same thing, so Applejack figured she wasn't far off the mark. "Yes, friends do help each other, when they honestly need help." she said, emphasizing that she hadn't forgotten his own peculiar brand of blue flu.

Also, I really really really wanted them to show a scene, if not that a photo from an album or something of Pear and Bright holding Applebloom. Because that would put the nail in the coffin of another disgusting rumor that keeps getting circulated from time to time when some of the questions about Applebloom start.

I imagine this is why they made Bright Mac exactly the same colours as Apple Bloom.

Applejack hadn't expected much out of Groovi's first attempt, but even so, she'd seen stronger kicks from a gopher digging a burrow. Still, as Groovi had suggested, maybe she just needed another demonstration. "Well, yeah, that looked all right, but if you don't put everything into it, you'd barely tickle a squirrel's toes. So, take another look."

Turning to line herself up with the tree herself, she took another deep breath before again lifting up onto her forehooves and striking with all her tensed muscles into the trunk of the tree, which was soon raining down its bounty again. "Don't be afraid to give 'er all ya got. The tree can actually take a lot without gettin' seriously hurt, and it'll heal itself up by next Spring if it does. Try 'er again," she said, placing new empty baskets around the tree.

Applejack had been putting on a kindly face for the better part of half an hour by now. After all, Twilight was like another sister to her and Applejack knew well of her love of not only acquiring but sharing knowledge with anypony who would listen. But Applejack had come looking to Twilight for any information on a soil survey of Equestria that might have been commissioned by Princess Celestia at some point, so as to compare crop yields elsewhere and get clues on how to provide the best possible mix of nutrients for her trees, and that was enough to cause Twilight to launch into a long-winded exposition about basic botany. Applejack had let Twilight go on, though. It did make her happy, and for all Applejack knew, she was the reason Twilight had taken an interest in the first place. Nevertheless, the knock on the castle door made Applejack sigh with relief inside, since she no longer had to listen to Twilight talk as though she had no idea what photosynthesis was.

"Know what, I'll come with ya, just to stretch my legs." she said. With luck, whatever was happening next would make Twilight forget about her impromptu class. Still, Twilight's greeting caused her to pause and perk her ears up. "Discord?" she repeated, before trotting over to take in the very sad spectacle of the miserable-looking spirit of chaos himself.

Applejack tucked the blanket underneath herself and her hooves as best she could, snuggling down as comfy as she could manage to. "Well, I guess it'll be tomorrow before they do, now. Guess we got farther out than I thought before this tub came down." She took a deep, heavy sigh as the events o the day suddenly started to weigh more heavily on her than before, but then with a small start she peered over at Trixie. "How's your head doin'? You been feeling any better? I think you got it worse than I did. Maybe I should stay awake and keep an eye on y'all." She had no idea what sh could do if Trixie did suddenly take a turn for the worse, but felt she should at least be aware of it if it happened.

I can't believe a fellow Brony said that. That is the first time in years those words had passed these eyes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Pony Creator is a great tool for people with no artistic skill (like me) who want to create a quick and simple reference image of what their OC would look like. I used it for the image in my signature (with a little help from Photoshop for the cutie mark). It just helps if the person using it has enough aesthetic sense not to make a neon lime green OC with a red and black mane that makes people's retinas bleed.

Not your LEAST favorite episode per se, but one(s) you consider to be your favorite episode's polar opposite. For me, my favorite episodes are Brotherhooves Social, The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows, and Flurry of Emotions. The latter two don't have polar opposites, (yet) but Hard to Say Anything is the polar opposite of Brotherhooves Social for reasons I've stated many times.

Yeah, when Big Macintosh is more comfortable pretending to be a mare than talking to one, I'd say that counts as antithetical.

Finally, I don't believe Granny and Grand Pear are or were a couple. He is AJ's maternal grandfather, and Granny is her paternal grandmother.

    Spoiler

The novel Applejack and the Honest-To-Goodness Switcheroo implied heavily that Granny Smith was Applejack's maternal grandmother. It may yet be the case.

Either way, I'm watching these the second they're out! Been really looking forward to this Applejack episode.

Applejack's eyes widened at the suggestion of a barrel of Zap Apple cider being shared around by such a group of ponies. Luna and Celestia might have been able to handle the effects themselves by sheer force of will and magic, but she wasn't sure about herself, Big Mac and Twilight. "Well, that'd be one way to start a new tradition, that's for sure. Just do me a favour and make sure some medical-type pony is nearby." she suggested. "And I'd love to go and see Trottingham, if the timing's right. Hmm, with apples just for cider, maybe it wouldn't need to be at one time of the year, neither."

Applejack leaned back as she took a sip of milk, finishing her glass. "Are there any other holidays or things you'd like help with, Ma'am?" She asked after setting her glass down. "Or, another slice?"

  11. One further suggestion related to the above: Lift the requirement for a picture, especially for an OC. Yes, Pony Creator is a wonderful thing and all but we want roleplay to be something that people can get into quickly, and start playing quickly, rather than making getting into EqE a chore in and of itself.

Applejack nodded. "Yeah. A family and a few foals of my own. Bein' part of one means everythin' to me so to have one I could love the way I..." she caught herself suddenly, then quickly cleared her throat. "Uhm, yeah, anyway. Yeah, if y'all were to get a permanent show, trust me, Las Pegasus would be the place for you to do it. I went there once. Everything's a hundred times flashier there than anywhere else. Your show would fit right in." she said.

Peering out the hole in the hull after Trixie, she noted the sun starting to go down herself, and leaned over to look through the chest of survival gear again, gently extracting a pair of blankets and then giving one of them over to Trixie. "Here. We're gonna need these soon. For a desert it sure cools down quick after dark around here."

Applejack nodded and smiled. "T'wouldn't be no inconvenience for you, Ma'am." she reassured Luna. "We mostly have red varieties on this farm. Macintosh, Gala, Delicious, that sorta thing. Some of the other apples grow other types but these were the ones we started with. Personally, I've always wanted to go to Trottingham and see their apples, though. I heard they have some types of apples they don't use for anything but cider."

A slight smile crossed Applejack's lips at Luna's suggestion though. "Well, my Granny told me once how, when she was younger, around my age, she did try makin' cider outta zap apples." She paused and took a deep breath, partially to recall, and partially to try and imagine it for herself. "She said it was like a purple haze all in her brain, and that she tried to kiss the sky! Now, I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but she said she ain't never tried it since, and I don't think I wanna make it for anypony else without bein' able to right properly warn them first."
