Full blown? Maybe, maybe not. Look, I'm just giving my honest opinion on the issue. I'm sure you have your reasons for believing she is full blown evil. While I will disagree, I will not deny that she did have villainous tendencies.

I know my answer may sound typical but I compare myself the most to Fluttershy. I'm naturally shy by nature and I love the outdoors. In truth I do wish I wasn't so shy but then again I wouldn't be so careful otherwise. One thing that people will know when they get to know me is that I lack trust for most people. Once I get to know someone enough, I begin to trust them more but it's gradual.

I openly admit that I like Lun-... excuse me... Princess Luna allot. While my fave pony is Fluttershy, Luna does seem to also have a wounderous charm about her too. I'm all for the night and if I had to choose who would rule my world. Luna would be my choice, not that I have anything against Princess Celestia. Though Celestia does seem to have the godly, know all, feel to her title as princess. That maybe why I like Luna more, it's because she seems more grounded as a character than Celestia. Luna has flaws that define her mortality more. Yes she sees into Dreams but with her being the Princess of the Night, it is all logical for her to have such a power.

I say she is evil, but also a bit misunderstood as well. I think of it this way. Think of the hive's perspective on this. All the changelings follow Queen Chrysalis as the hive mother. They follow her orders without question. What Chrysalis wants is love, as is how the race thrives. In small doses, that is rather non-threatening. In the matter of a large scale invasion (IE. The Royal Wedding episode), she and her hive could be perceived as evil. Especially with the force entrapment of all the ponies in Canterlot. They relish the entrapment and suffering but also use what Queen Chrysalis gives them as far as love. They are powerless without love to consume. They chose to invade Canterlot and it's castle due to the high scale love there and across Equestria. It's more or less survival for them if anything, just like what the ponies of that word use in resources to survive.
