You seen this video yet by any chance Samurai Equine? good morning or whatever time it is over there by the way.
About this video, I'd say outside of these examples given even in the case where Princess Celestia smiled about her pet Phoenix being turned to ash, she knew her pet Phoenix would revive itself. Sure, it became part of a trollestia meme about her, but I hardly see that as a valid attack on her morality. If her pet was gone permanently, then she would be sad about it I guarantee it.

Ah yes, the Wonderbolts. That also goes into another issue. We know the show had a series bible, but we have no idea how deeply it went into detail vs how much was just illustrated as a general/loose idea guide. It could be that the Wonderbolts were originally envisioned as just a team of performers, and it was only later that they were molded to be a pseudo military organization. There have been plenty moments in the show where if felt like Lauren and the team just had some loose ideas at first, then explored them in deeper detail as the show went on. This kind of thing could also affect how the two sisters are portrayed in the show; never wanting to go too far from what Lauren envisioned, but not having near enough material or not being brave enough to do more. Not to mention the mental attitude that MLP G4 is basically the Mane Six's show, not theirs.

@Samurai Equine this is true, I think they did have electoral local government in Equestria though since they had Mayors, so perhaps the Courts were already independent from the Monarchy, we just don't know because they never clarified that. It is fine to have Luna and Celestia be the enforcers and decree law, but as you said, having them two hash it out with each other could help make the law making process seem more fairer or more just. Celestia while she is kind and merciful, is not perfect and we have seen that, so having Luna corule with her as she was meant to, in Celestia's own words, would make their Monarchy a stronger state with effective leaders who knew what they were talking about.

The government of Equestria will always confuse me. It's the one kingdom I know of that can have other kingdoms within it. Allied with the princesses, yet still very much considered their own thing. It's like a contradiction that no one has a problem with.
If I wanted to make a negative stance on it, I'd question just how independent these kingdoms are if they exist within the kingdom of the two sisters. But it seems to work! Everypony is happy. If they aren't questioning it, I won't. As for mayors and such, I can actually see how that works! I can totally see Celestia and Luna creating other government titles and lower levels to help them manage all of Equestria. And if those positions are voted in by the citizens, then it gives us the best of both worlds; royal rule and democracy coexisting!
