  1. I'm sorry about being absent. I've been ill and I'm trying out for a band, so all of my energy is focused elsewhere. I'm back for now though! @@nx9100 I'm not sure if it's necessary to mention this, but it's common for larger facilities to cook all of the food for the smaller facilities up to several miles away, and then deliver those meals. Most of the time, the food that gets made for smaller facilities is of much higher quality. (At the facility that I work at, the main dish for breakfast is grits and turkey-based bologna while the smaller facility that we make food for gets legitimate Jimmy Dean Sausage, Biscuits, eggs, etc.)
  2. Recording went so bad that I could cry. 51 unusable takes. I can definitely see why people circumvent drums altogether and just use a machune

  3. I've finally found the time to work on the studio. I'll be drumming all day. That's a good day.

  4. Both are true. I didn't want to limit my offer to one person.
  5. I forgot to follow this thread: I actually haven't found a singer yet. Pm me.
  6. Hey, just thought I'd say: Seg is a colloquial corrections term that is short for segregation which is the more common term rather than the commonly perceived "solitary" which I have yet to hear in real life.
  7. @@Pripyat Pony, @@Eternal Night, @@Firehearted, @, Tom simply nodded as a quiet and subtle assurance that she would be taken forcefully if necessary, but remained at Hermes side while keeping an eye on Snowflake. He pointed to the two nearby ponies that were talking to Jay, "You two might as well clean up and go to rec, now. I'm not fuckin' around unless you want to spend the week in Seg."
  8. @,@@Knox_Proxy,@@nx9100, Chow was going to wind down soon and the inmates would be instructed to go to the recreation yard for the hour. Tom scanned the room to see any pony doing anything suspicious. There wasn't anything particular going on. He knew these veteran criminals were exceptional at deceit. He also knew that as benign as any situation appeared, somepony always had something in the works. In this prison, it seemed that no pony simply did their time. Tom gestured with his nose to the black and grey pony whom Hermes had been speaking with and called, "Hey, you! Come back over here." Tom trotted to Hermes and nudged him, "We should send these ponies to rec and keep this one behind for cleaning. Snowflake wants to question that other one, and he may need our help to get her into the interrogation room. What do you think?"
  9. LOL, my wife was upset about that. She was like, "Not cool. So, not cool." LOL.
  10. BUMP: Original instrumental posted above. This was the first track I produced with Ableton Live 9. (Which is what I am using to record the album). It's only notable because I recorded live drums for it. One of these days, I'll figure out how to make my live drums sound as good as my drum-machine. Too much cymbals. It had lyrics, but they were so, so, SO NSFW, so this is just the music. Edit: Link was broken. Also, note, the song was pony related. It was just heavy about raping them, so they had to go. Which is sad that I wasted my best death-vocals on it. Double :(
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftTlh9S1zdE Not my best, but it's something. I have a much better set-up now. I'll throw an audition together if you'd like.
  12. My eye just won't get better I know it's not pink-eye, because my wife and son would've caught it from me by now. I think I should have it cut out.
  13. "Here I am!" "What have I done..."
  14. Taking a break from writing music to do a pony parody.

  15. Pulling another all nighter recording music. Oh, and I made a Derpy hat.
  16. I am working on a parody of "Doesn't Remind Me" by Audioslave (where it will be 'doesn't remind me of season 5.') Now, the issue is that I'm pretty new to music, (I've only been playing for about 4 years) and I can't solo yet, and that song has a really fast guitar solo in it. I know a scales, and I could noodle something within the scale of the song, but would that ruin it for everypony? Would that be a huge turn-off for the listener? In any cover I want to do, I am usually evaluating the difficulty of the solo because that's my basis for whether or not to actually do the song. The attached .wav file is the instrumental, and the best solo I could do is at 2:50. Please tell me if it's awful. Doesn't Remind me of Season 5 Lower.wav
  17. Somepony should be the commissary vendor. It's common for guards to handle the orders for the commissary contractor. If anypony here likes to be a vendor. Note that it's hugely corrupt, overpriced, and under quality in real life. You can't exaggerate that too much, seriously. It may be a fun little thing to play with, if anypony cares.
  18. "Cool, Cool." Tom nodded. "Thanks, buddy." Tom gave the pegasus a pat on the shoulder and retreated to his post in the far east corner of the room. He looked around the chow hall watching the inmates do what they normally did. He scanned the crowd for a suitable trustee for clean up afterward. Tom always found it funny that the term for 'inmate worker" was a trustee. He understood that it was because a trustee was somepony whom worked to earn money for their trust account which they could send home to their families, although most ponies selfishly bought from the overpriced in-house commissary. Maybe that one that Hermes was talking to would work for them.
  19. I just got over the flu, so my death-vocals burned out really quick. I would have posted this in my music thread, but I made a new thread for Skullbuster. At any rate, I was seriously impressed with Skullbuster's rhymes. He is really good. I've never done a lead singing vocals before, so if you could give me some criticism, it'd be greatly appreciated. (No seriously. Be mean, be rude, or whatever. I need pointers.) By the way, I used the old drum track while I re-recorded the guitars. I would have really liked to have re-recorded the drums, but I was having trouble matching the rap with the beat. I cannot wait to get my hands on the kit with the new recording equipment. Maybe I can cancel out some of that awful overbearing cymbal splash. (I need soundproofing. The walls of the room where I recorded the drums are way too bright.)
  20. "I was late, did I miss anything?" Tom asked while ignoring the inmates whom hadn't left. Tom always found somepony to give him a rundown of anything that had happened during the first half-hour of shift. They usually understood that being a single dad made things difficult for him, but if they were short due to his consistent tardiness, he also understood. "Anypony get stupid or any important notes from the warden during squad meeting?" Tom gave an embarrassed smile, a look that he gave somepony every day. [Rock on, bro. See you later.]
  21. Floor Tom was characteristically late for work. He was allowed into the secured facility and quickly made his way to his post with the assumption that his absence had gone unnoticed during squad meeting. He dashed into the dining hall and saw that chow was already underway. He stood in the back and saw Hermes speaking with an inmate as he usually did. When Tom first saw Hermes working he thought that he was too kind for this line of work, but eventually, Tom found that Hermes wasn't weak so much as just respectful. Tom approached Hermes and the inmate. He held a hoof up to the inmate, "Can you give us a minute?" Tom said sternly making it clear that he wasn't asking. "Hermes, I need to talk to you." Tom said, as he usually did when he arrived.

  23. Is this a soundtrack to something? It sounds like a movie opening, or a compelling video game theme. I don't know how else to say this, but it sounds like action.
  24. I used audacity for a couple of years. I have a few tips if you're cool with that: Step 1: Record a metronome as a first track and let it run for about 5 minutes or whatever the length of the song. Step 2: Record each track to that metronome. Each time you record something, you'll have to magnify the track and move it back (Slightly in tiny increments.) in order to compensate for latency that is found in all recording software. Once you have a track set, you can record the next track and do the same thing. Step 3: Since there is not a compressor, you'll have to go to the loud parts and amplify negatively. Once each track is about the same volume throughout, you can set the volume of each track to fix the mix. Step 4: Mute the metronome track, and render. Voila, you have your finished song.
