Whats the best concert you have ever been to?
Stallionslaughter replied to Poetic Stone's topic in Media Discussion
I saw Avenged Sevenfold at the Cain's Ballroom in Oklahoma in 2007. Unfortunately, the opening acts were better than they were. The Black Tide opened for them and they were awesome. Operator was also very good while Confessions wasn't that amazing. I saw Trans-Siberian Orchestra once for my 2nd anniversary with my wife. Now, that was a show! -
Not knowing if anypony there was friend or foe, Floor Tom remained silent despite the black pegasus' question. Tom's mind had been churning for answers about where they were, who the hooded ponies were, and what exactly was going on; therefore, he had only caught the tail end of the question. He watched the pegasus eat and shook his head. Tom squinted at the food on the bar, but refrained from helping himself despite the nauseating hunger filling his throat. Frustration manifested a tightness in his skull because Tom was used to getting a good sized pinch of snuff first thing in the morning, but his can wasn't with him. He didn't know who this pony was that had just entered, but the interruption of the silence wasn't welcomed. He recognized his irrational state of mind due to the nicotine withdrawal, so he took a deep breath and tried to formulate a response that wasn't simply a long string of profanity. Tom raised a brow at the pegasus whom had broken the silence, "Do you think they're listening?"

Are you still accepting ponies? Name: Floor Tom Age: 24 Race: Earth Pony Appearance: Light Blue coat, Red Tail, and Red Eyebrows (No mane). Gold eyes. He is small in stature and size. Cutie Mark: Red and Yellow floor tom-tom with two floating drum sticks. Personality: Floor tom is trusting and hard working. He always tries to be respectful, but can seem charmingly crass most times. He's outspoken and well-read despite not being very smart. He's devoted, but doesn't learn quickly and gets frustrated easily. Happiness spurs chattiness, and anger/sadness causes one-word responses if not silence. Additional Notes: Floor tom is not forgiving. A violation of his trust usually destroys the relationship forever. Despite this, he is not vindictive, but he is bitter and tends to hold a grudge. Back story: Tom grew up in Apple Loosa and worked for his father in construction for many years. He and his mother are very close and maintain a relationship while he doesn't know his father well outside of being Tom's boss. Tom moved to Canterlot when he was 19, but a bad relationship ending in betrayal and deceit destroyed his finances which caused him to move back in with his parents in Apple Loosa and resume construction work for his father. (I hope I did this right.) By the way, do we not know why we've been detained or what's up with that?

Stallionslaughter replied to Rosemary Comet's topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/floor-tom-r7950 Reserved, funny, honest, and happy. Charmingly crass, well-read, and helpful. Floor Tom is a night shift detention guard in the Canterlot Criminal Justice Center. Socializes in the morning, and sleeps through the evening to stay awake all night at work. ((I hope this is what you're looking for. This is my first Role-Play as well.)) -

I'm off work and hanging out with my 18 month old son. He and I get very little time one-on-one.

How did you develop your OC?
Stallionslaughter replied to AmberDust's topic in Original Character Help
I used the people around me and myself. I have three OCs: Majesty Envoy is my wife if she were strong willed and independant. Scroot Whinny is my step-father with the exception of the dishonest past and laziness. Floor Tom is a direct representation of me. I had to change a lot about his backstory because there are major events in my life that wouldn't happen in Equestria. Question though; I don't have a huge giant story about Tom and his past, are the minute details important? or are just major events in a summary sufficient? -
Colored Pencil Help
Stallionslaughter replied to Stallionslaughter's topic in Photo Finish's Magics (Visual Art)
You're awesome. I appreciate the feedback. It's always nice to hear that my frustration of seeing an image in my head, and not being able to translate that image to paper with the slightest resemblance is shared in some capacity. -
Colored Pencil Help
Stallionslaughter replied to Stallionslaughter's topic in Photo Finish's Magics (Visual Art)
Although I appreciate the sentiment, the picture attached isn't graphite. It's ink and colored pencil (which I'm not sure what they're made of). Additionally, I feel that if I'm going to draw ponies, color is an integral part of My Little Pony fan work. If that's not the case, you'd really make my day. I like to draw ponies, and I'm comfortable in grey scale, but I'd like to evolve a little. Also, don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm a bad artist or anything, I just know how to draw, and having familiar tools not work exactly the way I'm used it is frustrating as all get out. Thank you for your time, Tom -
I have been drawing with graphite pencils for a long time and I'm fairly good at it. The issue is that when I apply ink and color, the pencil work doesn't work the same way at all. I have tried to seek out tutorials for traditional color works, but they're invariably leaning toward acrylic or oil. I have a 2 year old; therefore, I am not willing to have paint anywhere in my house. I'd like to start working with color, but nothing I do seems to have the depth that I can achieve with graphite. I'd like to be able to do color with the same quality, but I am consistently dissatisfied with the result in color which is the reason why I don't do it. An example of my color and ink work is below. It seems flat, and I can't seem to keep a steady hand with ink. The colors come out stippled and I'm just frustrated with it. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks a bunch.

What's the funniest MLP episode?

Wow, it's like you read my mind. I am a one-pony band that makes videos of each part to show that I really can play what I'm recording, and I figured that would be a big deal, but nothing is gained usually. If you exclude the time it takes to write a song (which is several weeks) and then get good enough at playing it on all the instruments to record all in one take, recording, videoing, and editing takes about three days because of rendering, backgrounds, and subtitles. About a month poured into one video and I average about 20 views and 4 likes. Naturally, I do it for the love of the craft. I like recording music and making the videos more for myself than anyone else. I also enjoy trying to get good enough to collaborate with other bronies and help them make rock/metal songs (usually vocalists). From what I've seen, especially in videos or art, quantity is everything. Making quality works fast and plenty. If you consistently pump out content, you're going to be an entity worth paying attention to. After the initial canvass, quality and time will be more worth the wait for the watchers. At least that's what I've seen. Hope this helps.

Singer for Use - Bronyance
Stallionslaughter replied to Bronyance's topic in Vinyl's Creative Resources
Bronyance, please take a look at this thread: http://mlpforums.com/topic/122299-hard-rock-cover-i-need-a-singer/#entry3526363 -
I'm a musician and I want to cover a pony song in a metal style. I'm thinking of trying to get less deathcore and more alternative metal. My issue is vocals. I am pretty good at deathvocals with a sound close to Phil Bozeman, but I am just starting in singing. If anypony is willing to lend me some good metal singing for a pony song (from the show) I'd like to do one. I don't have any particular song in mind, I'd be willing to do any of them. Although I do have a particular affinity for Raise This Barn and Bats! as I think they'd make great metal songs. I'd need about 3 weeks to learn the song (on guitars, bass, drums, etc.), and about a week with your vocal track to mix it down and master it. I would need a full track in one take to because the time it takes to sync parts to music is painfully hard and often doesn't work out. Preferably, I'd like to take the song you'd want to do, finish my music, e-mail you the MP3 of my track for you to sing to, and then you send your vocal track to me for mixing. Because I play Nu-Metal styles, my guitars are in dropped B, so the end result will be in a lower key. Thank you for your time, Derrick Lesters the Hard Rock Llama (If you'd like to hear one of my tracks, I'd be more than happy to plug a link.)

It's okay. It's not awful or anything. I think it's make great menu music for a shooter or horror game.

Neat-o! (I found it more lively and fun than sad.)

I think it's cool. As a Drummer, the skipping staying in time fucked with me. It was an exhilarating song. I listened with Seinnheiser 380HD Pros, and I have to ask: Where's the bass? The track was neat, but tinny.

More power? Feh. It's great! There were key issues and what not, but that will work itself out with practice. Nicely done, really though. Badass. If Fluttershy did something by Black Label Society, I would do a hippity hoppity. I've had an ongoing daydream that Flutterguy was the voice behind Bleed for Me by Black Label Society. I even drew it.

In addition to tutorials and the manual for specific sounds, turn knobs, switch levers, and generally just dick with it until you compose a sound you like. that's the only way I could figure it out.

I'm a singer, but i need feedback.
Stallionslaughter replied to BeatStriker's topic in Vinyl's Creative Resources
I want to say something nice. It's not Terrible, but you need to raise your voice. If you're having trouble going low, which was evident many times, sing it in a different key without listing to the song while recording. Higher. There are often songs that are preformed in a key that may be difficult for you to hit accurately. Also, hearing yourself sing without the accompanying music will help you. I hope this helps. -
Scanners generally suck at capturing different shades of grey. Google Gimp 2.0 and download the freeware. I used the burn and dodge tools to fix the shading ambiguity that scanning can degrade.
