I'd agree, if only to say religion and politics are ultimately very petty things in life that people put far too much stock into. 

In short, friends have better things to talk about. 

I'm not sure how much harder I can disagree with this sentiment.
To disavow any discussion on hard topics, especially with those closest to you is to eliminate any chance of congregational progress.
Denying not only maturity for one's self, but also those around them.

They are difficult topics, to be sure, but talking about them and overcoming them together is a major facet of humanity as we know it.
To prevent that is to deny one's humanity.

I'm sorry to see you violate others' high opinions of you in such a manner, Mes'

I hope to see you grow past such childish ideologies.
