  1. Did Rarity ever become a crazy cat lady?

  2. In retrospect it's weird that Friendship of Magic changed Rainbow Dash's personality to something completely different from what it was in prior My Little Pony cartoons.

  3. I'm not paying attention to that upcoming My Little Pony movie at all but the new ponies look really cute.

    1. Evil Pink One

Wise choice not to get hyped... Big mistake for me though...I hyped

    2. Thrond

      Thrond

I burnt out really hard on Friendship is Magic and I'm not looking to go through that again.

  4. I am conflicted regarding the question of "how big are My Little Ponies supposed to be?" My favourite answers are "toy size" and "real pony size," but I'm not sure which is better

    1. Thrond

      Thrond

Could they be the duck-sized horses I keep hearing about?!

  5. How good are the My Little Ponies at cooking?

Applejack - Excellent, though her friends wonder how she never gets sick of apples. It's not that she can't cook non-apple dishes, but she has so many apples and there's no point letting them go to waste.

Rainbow Dash - Bad; not patient enough to learn to do it right. Often gets distracted and burns her food. At least she can throw a simple sandwich together.

Pinkie Pie - Great at baking but puts too much sugar into everything else. Including recipes that aren't supposed to have sugar in them.

Fluttershy - Great, but has almost no recipes for ponies. She wastes all of her groceries on animals and then eats the same boring salad three times a day.

Twilight Sparkle - About as good as the recipe she's following. Without one she gets all the measurements and timers wrong, leading to disastrous results.

Rarity - Pretty good but gets overshadowed by Applejack and Pinkie Pie, despite using a greater variety of ingredients. Sometimes tries and fails to make haute cuisine, even though none of her friends even like that stuff.

BONUS: Spike - Low-key the best cook of the lot. Whenever Twilight's friends come to her place for meals, they're always disappointed if Twilight is the one cooking and not Spike.

  6. Season 9 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic continues to not be on Netflix, over a year later...

Look, there's a part of me that would rather pretend the show ended after season 8, but on the other hand there are several season 9 episodes that I would like to rewatch without pirating them.

    1. Sparklefan1234

      Sparklefan1234

"Going to Seed".  'Beginning of the End" and "Between Dark and Dawn" are the only S9 episodes

      I still enjoy watching.

"Sparkle's Seven" was fun the first couple of times for me but it lost it's "specialness" quickly.

There’s like 7 or 8 that I really liked the first time through, have yet to watch any of them a second time.

Take all the best episodes from season 9 and cram them into your season 8 list and pretend them to be season 8 episodes.:please:

My favorite S9  episodes are Sparkle's Seven, Frenemies, Trivial Pursuit, Ending of the End, The Last Problem.:Rara:

  7. The School of Friendship may have been an awkward idea but I liked it a lot because

    1. It was a much-needed change of pace for a show which I felt was stagnating and running out of ideas for its main characters.
    2. It seemed like a natural evolution of the main-six-as-teachers trend in the show, and introduced a bit more failure and uncertainty to those stories.
    3. It let Twilight work as part of an educational institution, which I had always felt was the perfect line of work for her.
    4. It served as a symbol of acceptance and let the mane six stand against xenophobia, which was a positive development in the show's depiction of non-pony species.
    5. It gave Starlight a clearer purpose in the show, which was especially nice because I felt that season was a major improvement for her characterization.
    6. The main student characters are cute.

The school is one of the reasons i liked about season 8. Season 8 has the most well-round story setting in the show, that why i have so many problems with season 9 because it downplayed whatever season 8 has built. Season 8 is the last season of the show that i consider great.:oh_golly:

It suffers from the fact that the idea of an actual School centered around friendship is a really dumb idea, especially when it was established from the first episode that Friendship is something you can't just learn at school.

That was always the elephant in the room, alongside the fact that the mane six also have other jobs, and it's probably the least creative gimmick they could have come up with. Still, by the end of season 7 they could have thrown in just about anything and I would have thought "hey, at least it's something different."

      Quote

Student Six themselves aren't bad in concept, but they suffer from the school as well. If they really wanted them, they should have just been the mane 6's personal students instead

I like that the school offers natural opportunities for them to meet, and I like that the mane six are just "the teachers" to them. It gives us a fresh perspective on the ponies we know and love - something I wish had been a bigger part of those last two seasons. I do think they overcrowd the main cast, though.

Season 8 is fresh and benefits from a lot of increased sophistication but at that point I felt the storytelling often just didn't make sense. How do the mane six have time to both teach at the school and do their other jobs? How have Rainbow Dash and Rarity found no common interests in their years of friendship? Why is being bad at one musical instrument enough to send Pinkie Pie into a deep depression?! By that point it seemed like the writers didn't understand this show at all.

Yeah, it's very silly for the mane 6 who can save the world, do their usual chores and being full-time/or part-time teacher without having mental breakdown. Their stamina must be insane. :ButtercupLaugh:

It's hard to find any friendship problems between mane 6 at that stage of the show without making it too silly. I like when the show has more just 'friendship lesson' episodes. At least the later half of the episode was very entertaining, it didnt bother me that much.

      "BFFFF"?

  9. "Tip Toppings"

Still not sure if the Equestria Girls are vegetarians or not. Also, none of Pinkie's friends were helpful at all.

Applejack - Why did Pinkie ask her if she wasn't gonna listen? I really thought Applejack was gonna nag her for health reasons, but she just really likes fruit I guess.

Twilight - Did she pay for all those samples? Also, Pinkie just does not care what form her snacks are in as long as they're extra sugary, huh.

Fluttershy - What kind of monster would pick this one? It doesn't even make sense.

  10. "Costume Conundrum"

No costume party at Bulk Biceps' house can be all that exclusive.

Rarity - I was not expecting the "darling" tip jar. Nearly died laughing at that. Also, Rarity, you didn't need to trick Fluttershy into modelling for you. I'm sure she's happy to help.

Applejack - Brief reminder that Fluttershy is a furry.

Sunset Shimmer - Brief reminder that Bad Girl Sunset is best Sunset.

    1. Sparklefan1234

      Sparklefan1234

Rarity: Fluttershy looked like Rapunzel, IMO. :kindness:

Applejack: I wonder if Applejack has other costumes for her friends?

Sunset Shimmer: Must like scary movies. :sneer:

  11. MORE EQUESTRIA GIRLS:

"Let it Rain" is good but of course the Sunset Shimmer one is told from the second person...

    "Sock It to Me":

Rarity - Rarity's complete lack of sports knowledge is the best thing in this entire series. Truly relatable. Though isn't this the exact opposite of when Rarity went to that one Wonderbolts show in season 2? Funny, that.

Bulk Biceps - A bird fucking dies in this. What the hell.

Trixie - Why does Trixie have an unlucky sock? Also, why did she bring her laundry to school? Is she participating in Pinkie's anti-sock revolution?

  12. Completely missed that Equestria Girls music video with the Dazzlings. That's easily my favourite of the season 2 music videos, though the standards aren't exactly high... is that last Sunset Shimmer music video ever coming to the official YouTube channel?

Also, I wonder what's gonna happen with the last few chose-your-ending shorts now that YouTube has changed the way links work.

If we’re getting into specific shows I’m not qualified to comment, but that seems about right. Maybe Fluttershy finally convinced her to watch something else...

Surely she has animals at home. I can't imagine Fluttershy wouldn't have a pet.

Sure, but the wild animals at (say) her sanctuary are possible vectors. it is thought that, while originating in bats, the virus must have passed though at least one intermediatory animal as it has adopted genes from other viruses NOT found in bats.

(Pangolins are a strong suspect; those other genes ARE found in pangolin-specific retroviruses, and because trade in pangolins or their meat is illegal, if that WAS a vector, there would obviously be no records of the sale or origin)

For Influenza, pigs and chickens are common intermediatory hosts.

Look if we're getting into pony territory, then a lot of things are different. I don't think Fluttershy is dealing with any exotic animals in the Equestria Girls world, although she would be sad that she can't go to the pet shop or the zoo.

I did find some of them kinda annoying, mostly because they're really noisy. I like the innocent tone but don't really like how all of the ponies act like little kids, and those two qualities basically cancel each other out for me. I'd say they're all fairly predictable but they're also mostly pleasant. I really liked the one where Pinkie did magic.

  25. Supposedly Lauren Faust always wanted Twilight Sparkle to be Celestia's successor. If she was still in charge, would Twilight actually seem like she sort of wants to be a princess, rather than being pressured into it? Given the complete lack of any such indication in the two seasons she was in charge of, I do have my doubts.

@Number62 No I'm not too worried about the lifespan thing anymore, Twilight being an alicorn is weird but honestly pretty cool. It just never seemed in those first two seasons like Twilight had any interest in being a princess; I honestly believe she became Celestia's student solely to learn about magic.

    3. Sparklefan1234

      Sparklefan1234

I think Twilight being a Princess was poorly executed, TBH.

I know she was a “Princess of Friendship

but she never *really* felt like a Princess to me.

    4. Number62

      Number62

@AlexanderThrondI was against Twilight being an alicorn because I felt that there were too many by that point, and I didn't want the show to keep adding more just because it could. Then I figured that Twilight being an alicorn could open up opportunities for the show to talk about them, but too bad that's not what we got.

As for Twilight wanting to be a princess, you're right in that she hardly aspired to be a princess. Maybe she could eventually find a reason to be one, or maybe she'll realize that's she didn't know that's what she wanted. I feel like they could make it work if they're smart. Overall, I do also agree that the show didn't give much of a reason for her to be a princess. And I doubt there was anything Twilight could actually learn from Celestia.
