okay, so I just came back from the Ford dealership and we sat in the Ford Puma, and we got a good idea of what it is like. overall, it is very similar to the Ford Falcon. I had to climb into the front seats, but it was easy to get into the back seats. in the front seats, it was easy to put on the seat-belts. (the belt buckle has been raised quite a fair bit). As for the rear seat-belts, (depending on where you’re sitting) the seat belts are on the opposite side of the head-rests, so it can be a bit awkward trying to get the seat-belt to get into the belt buckle. (yeah, they’re kinda wedged into the seat. In comparison to the falcon, they have been raised a teeny bit, so it is a little bit easier to get it into the belt buckle) the head-rests do obstruct quite a fair bit, but I'm sure you can lower it. overall, the rear visibility of the puma is pretty compromised. it feels like you're looking through a letterbox. that is a bit of a concern considering how 'large' the vehicle is, but at least you've got a lot of rear parking sensors to help you with that. the seats are comfortable and supportive. I was surprised by how SMALL the engine was. Yes, I knew it was gonna be small, but I did not think it’d be THAT small. Despite the size of the engine, that 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine is an absolute gem / fire-cracker.
there was enough clearance to get in and out of the front and the rear without too much of a hassle. yeah, that was the one thing that I was really worried bout. but yeah, nah. the doors open up quite a fair bit, so that's good. So yeah, those were my first impressions about the Ford Puma. Next time, we’ll go and sit inside the Toyota Yaris, and do a comparison. There are some things that my dad likes about the Puma and there are some things he did not like. He did not like the design of the head-lights and how they were bulging, but he likes the tail-lights. He says the seating position is slightly better than the barina and it’s pretty similar to the Falcon. He says the visibility is…good and of course, he likes the interior. Based on the pictures, there are pluses and minuses between the Ford and the Toyota. But yeah, we need to take a look at the yaris. Ultimately, it's up to him. I’m happy either way.
both are about the same price (roughly $37,000). Yeah, we're not gonna buy a car until after my sisters wedding, so there's plenty of time.

Okay, so we just came back from the Toyota dealership and we sat in the Toyota Yaris. we had to settle for the base model just to see what it is like (the model we were looking for A.K.A the Yaris ZR Hybrid is un-available, which is really unfortunate, but...it is what it is.)
...and I gotta say, I was surprised by how spacious it was for such a small car. I'd say it was a lot easier to get in and out of the Yaris. (the ford feels a bit more 'cramped' when you compare it to the yaris, but that's just me) I did not have any problems with the seat-belts. the rear visibility is slightly better than the Puma. I like how the door pocket is close to the door handle. it makes it a lot easier to get out of the front seats. as for the sat-nav, well, we both agreed that it was a lot more solid than the one in the Puma.
Okay, so now, we've got a good idea of what its like to sit inside the Ford Puma AND the Toyota Yaris. When I asked my dad 'which one is better?', he says the Puma is far superior. he says it's got slighter better visibility, it looks a lot better than the yaris and the interior is a lot better. yeah, he said the interior in the Yaris is 'poor' in comparison to the Ford. when I asked him: 'which one do you prefer?' well...he said the Yaris is still on the top of the list. (3.3 litres VS 5.3 litres per 100 kilometres, but then again, you are comparing a Hybrid to a petrol engine, so I think that is a bit un-fair)
according to the dealer, the waiting list for a Hybrid is 12 months +, which is a bit of a shocker. as for the Puma, well...we only have to wait for 2 months. So...yeah, it looks like we're one step closer to the Puma, but we're not gonna buy a brand new car til after my sisters wedding and it's ultimately up to him.
