Whether you know of not of it being real, it's still a muking GUN going off in your face!! That is THE Thomas Alva Edison, isn't it? The guy who's method of advertising involved electrocuting live, innocent animals, huh? I'd say a apt description of Mr. Edison is "Twist the Blade." That Super Science Friends animated show might've been off in characterization of historical figures in several places, but they were spot on with Edison.

...still not sure what the point of the small cloaked figure coming in to wake up the first mugged conductor was.

Edison was more a thief than inventor. He was NOTORIOUS for looking out for people (especially on his teams) coming up with new technology, and he would then patent the tech before the other guy could.

Back then, you could patent individual pieces of cameras. So if your camera had something in it that Edison patented and he didn’t give permission to use it, he could sue you.

One guy who was on his team for a while got screwed over by Edison, and he was DISGUSTED. So he left and formed his own film studio, American Biograph. Biograph and Edison clashed for years, neither side really winning over the other, before they teamed up to buy out or destroy any small competition in the film industry. This was before monopolies and oligopolies were outlawed. It wasn’t until 5 people stood up to the two tyrants that others began to follow suite, and both Edison and Biograph began to lose their grip on the market. The “big 5” ultimately started the first companies which would ultimately lay the ground work for Hollywood today.

Well, kind of makes sense for him to take credit for those he's shipped in under his brand for, what was it called, Menlo Park? But I know well how badly he buried poor Nikoli Tessla!
