  1. Well, after I got the eyes down on my own, I don't see any anatomical issues. In fact, I already made the head thinner even though the head was based off of a circle. You shortened one of her legs I intend to keep it that long as an attempt to show that Twilight is a little close to us, and her left leg is now visibly longer than the shortened leg.
  2. Well, I figured something that will work pretty well. Anyways, you guys can still try something out and see if you can do better.
  3. Every time I try to draw them on to this, they don't feel right. Anyone wanna give it a shot?
  4. I just saw your latest edit submitted to the MyLittlePixel group. I just picked up a book from a library on color schemes and color harmony. It says that very vivid, saturated colors can be compared to 'shouting'. Colors like the ones you picked for Dashie's coat is very saturated, but the same thing can be said about her hair. Her hair is also very vivid and saturated. What ends up happening is that both her coat and hair are competing for attention, which ends up in chaos. I suppose this is the very reason why I found it more appealing to desaturate her coat and instead let her hair get the attention. It also pointed out why I happened to find Rainbow dash very, very annoying to draw. There are too many colors to handle so it's harder to find color harmony.
  5. Use PNG. Unlike jpegs, PNG's are good with images that have large areas of solid color, like vectors and pixel art.
  6. But in order to do that, don't you have to turn cupcakes into a religion of sorts? How many people is this hurting? Secondly, what you just called an argument, I call a discussion where people use logic.
  7. The point is not eliminating religion will magically stop violence. The people who would present religion as something used as a weapon however, believe we may be better off from having something so superficial dividing us so much.
  8. That way of thinking is not how we approach learning the world. We can't add things to our list of fun things we know about the universe only on the ground that it might be true. Being openminded is not about taking things to be true because you don't know better, but what's really open-minded is being able to change your views to better fit the world. Is there a reason to believe in a 'higher power'? Well then, surprise me with something juicy!
  9. I don't even think 'fuzzy' is the best texture for hair.
  10. Here's what I got Made many minor changes, but I would think the biggest change to note is how I changed the coat color around a bit. I desaturated the colors and varied the hues here. The lightest color starts at the cyans , then it goes to blue, then a purple. I also changed Dashie's right eye so she looked less cross-eyed.
  11. I am not a fan of dithering as it adds extra details where details might not really help your case all the time. We're dealing with ponies, and ponies are awesome because they're simple. I found the coat color to be rather bland. Care to read Protip #3? I wanna see what happens if we paly around with the palette. Would you mind if I play around with it a little?
  12. I dunno about it being a problem, but it's just something that I haven't wrapped my mind around yet, and it would be helpful to know how to have more control with my art. That is all. I'll keep this in mind.
  13. So if it's 'so obvious' that she's in a yellow light, how could I change it so the coat color doesn't resemble Octavia's as much?
  14. I actually didn't have the 'yellow light' thing in mind, all I did was experiment with hues until I like the results. Didn't I say I was more interested in a gender-neutral name? I don't remember seeing a guy naming himself something with heart or love in his name. From experience, more details = a bad thing, since we're dealing with ponies, not RL stuff.
  15. Lolol, I like how you dug into the colors I used. Just to let you know, the lightest color on my coat is a gray with a very slight green tint, the darker areas being a yellow-ish brown, and the outline is a red. Yeah, I go much crazier with hues than the producers. EDIT: I also added a very slight blueish tint to my mane too. I don't think Octavia's hair has that, does it?
  16. This art style is more 16 bit... Hmmm... Bit 16? I like the ring of that. I think I'll keep poking around with computer-related names.
  17. I would make a forum post about it!
  18. jpegs make me sad. They ruin the quality of this pic since it's not a photo but a pic with large areas of solid color D: Still a fun pic though.
  19. LOL @ vector. Pretty strange considering the general art style I'm mainly working with. Also, I don't seem to be thinking 'Octavia' so much when I look at her... mainly because the coat color is really different.
  20. What's happening to Vinyl? Since she's holding her head up (and not having it lowered), looks like she's in physical pain. O_O
  21. source Not particularly fond of OC's, but I eventually decided it may be better to use something unique to make me more indentifiable (for a lack of a better term) considering the pace which I'll be picking up attention. Since I got a surprise art gift, I thought I should make one of these reference sheets ASAP in case people wanna make stuff for me again. ... Should it be given a name? Name suggestions should be gender-neutral since I'm a guy who finds that a mare's nose is more aesthetically pleasing.
  22. Feel free to send a rebuttal through PM then.
  23. I disagree. If it's not because we're supposedly 'bashing' each other, I don't see the issue because the thread is asking for different perspectives. That is easily what a debate does - explore different perspectives and see how they logically compare with another.
  24. Ever wondered what he exactly meant by "God" and "religion"? Though I personally don't know what he meant by religion, Einstein's god, in a nutshell, is the set of laws that the universe is bound to. If anything, he's a great example that shows that we can easily confuse the hell out of each other because we do not agree on what God is. Pretty much the point of Ignosticism, which is basically a form of agnosticism but putting more emphasis on the fact we don't know what God is so we can't even approach the question. I don't know what you mean by 'bashing'. I find the debate here to be tame enough to not warrant a lock o_O
