If you have never seen or played any of the classic Metroid games, what is your thoughts on the music?

Being brought up with the Metroid games myself, is like, being really scared, but can't stop exploring the worlds. And the music, being very limited here, is doing its best to keep you playing. The Metroid II main overworld theme might be one of the best music pieces I have ever heard on classic Gameboy (I do think Super Mario Land's overworld is quite perfect).
When it comes to the first Metroid game for NES, well, that kind of music quality at that time era, is outstanding! But what really do you think of the music? Do you hate this kind of 8-bit music? Or do you look past the square waves and noise, and hear the soul behind the music?

Metroid is a very difficult game, because it was made very long ago, when games were supposed to be very difficult (almost not fun to play).
I really suggest playing "Metroid Zero Mission" for Gameboy Advace, first of all. It is a much better remake of the original, with added stuff, really cool map that is fun to explore, and slightly scary (manageable). Putting your fears away, and you will get through that game like a soldier. It has the good music as well, and some cool cutscenes. Explains more about the entire game franchise. And after that you can move on to the big one "Super Metroid" for SNES which is still the masterpiece everyone talks about.

Search for VisualBoyAdvance. it is an emulator that you can use to play the games on a PC. Also search for the Metroid Zero Mission ROM. You are bound to find download links somewhere, sine these things are very popular.
