According to my research... Saturn and Jupiter are gas giant planets that produce a truly unique form of weather. Recently, scientists discovered that there is plenty of carbon in these atmospheres. When carbon soot gets hit by lightning, it hardens into graphite and falls downward, where the pressure of the atmosphere hardens it further, until it becomes… a diamond! Storms on these planets may literally rain diamonds as big as a centimeter across. -
@Samurai Equine Hehe well I'm always interested in learning more about space as it's my favorite scientific topic. Huh... that does make sense since diamonds are just a lump of carbon is crystalline form.
I can't remember the name of the planet that rains glass horizontally but it looks very beautiful from an outsiders perspective. Though if you were to go to the surface... it probably wouldn't be very pleasant hehe. Also thanks for sharing that as I find it very fascinating.
