Have I posted here yet?
To echo some previously mentioned opinions:
The Beatles are too glorified. They were influential, but that's much different than being the greatest band of all time.
Speaking of over-glorification, Mitch Lucker was not the greatest vocalist of all time, nor was Jeff Hanneman the best guitarist, or Cliff Burton the best bassist. If they were still alive, I guarantee you most likely wouldn't have those opinions (Cliff is barely audible a lot of the time so what the hell). If I may reference
"A moment of silence, but not one moment more. The dead are to be forgotten, we are here to be adored."
Some opinions of my own.
If you say your favorite Led Zeppelin song is "Stairway to Heaven" (unless you've actually heard a good majority of their discography), your opinion of them has no merit. There are exceptions, of course; my favorite Coldplay song is still "Yellow" (though I don't think it's especially good anyway).
My favorite classical music comes out of the 1960s through the 80s; Steve Reich and
are the names for me.
People that dismiss hip hop (or any other entire genre) as a whole should just keep searching beyond what they hear on the radio.
was my entry point.
I prefer more avant-garde jazz over the traditional bop stuff, with my favorites being
Pharoah Sanders,
and
"God Hates Us All" is my favorite Slayer album.
I've come so close to liking Dream Theater, but I keep falling back on Cynic and other prog metal bands that I feel introduce fresher concepts into their music.
That's all I got, but I'll certainly be back when I think of others.
