Thank you SIlkies. A loss in a family is hard, especially when it's a kid that you lose. Princess Ika and Prince Borealis being young during the death of their younger sister Siarah, they we're dubbed as the forgotten mourner because they and their feelings were often ignored. Like Princess Siarah, Queen Ika's son also has EIDS, but with medical treatments and research being much more advanced than that 20 years ago, her son will more likely live a normal life.

Normal: Stained Glass variant: (TW: Sibling loss) Lore: Queen Ika is the ruler of the Overland. She has been since she was 12 and is currently 30 years old. Ika’s life hasn’t always been easy, but the year she was 7 years old was undoubtedly the worst. Queen Ika has 2 younger siblings, Prince Borealis, who’s currently 28 and Princess Siarah, who would’ve been 25, but is forever 2. This isn’t normal for a sibling relationship, to lose their youngest sibling, but Siarah’s life was far from easy. Princess Siarah was the youngest in the Overland royal family. She and her older siblings are all the kids of Queen Australis, but all had different fathers. The Overland royal family is known for polygamy. Queen Australis had 3 husbands, 1 for each kid. Princess Siarah was hatched on April 3rd of 2000. However, her hatch day was difficult. Because of her low weight, the doctors had to manually hatch her and send her to the NICU to get help. Queen Australis and her 3rd Royal husband weren’t able to see Siarah until hours later. Even though Princess Siarah got the help from the doctors, that didn’t mean she was healthy, far from it actually. She was diagnosed with EIDS; which is a very rare and often fatal disease. This caused Princess Siarah to be critically ill in her short life. Because of the severe disease that Princess Siarah suffered from, she couldn’t go outside to play like her older siblings. The only times she can go outdoors was for royal events, but even then it was limited. Even though Princess Ika and Prince Borealis got to live normal lives, Siarah couldn’t because of her illness. Despite this, Princess Siarah still managed to smile through it all, because she still wanted to see the good in it all. Every time Siarah smiled, her royal father would find this moment precious and he only ever captured the good moments in Siarah’s life so he can remember it forever. As for Siarah’s siblings, Ika and Borealis, she had a good bond with both of them. She especially had a strong bond with Ika since they’re both sisters. Princess Ika and Prince Borealis were aware of Princess Siarah’s critical illness, so they all had the best of times together since they knew that they didn’t have much time with Siarah. Unfortunately, 4 months after Princess Siarah’s 2nd birthday, on August 3rd 2002, she passed away in the hospital due to complications of EIDS. This was devastating on the whole royal family, but especially on Queen Australis and Siarah’s royal father. Princess Ika was only 7 and Prince Borealis was only 5 at the time so while they didn’t quite understand the concept of death, they were still sad about losing their sibling. Of course since this was a royal death, it was all over the news, not just in the Overland, but globally. A week later, Siarah’s funeral was held and many creatures were there, including other royals from other countries. Unlike Equestria, where the mourning colour is black, in the Overland, the mourning colour is white. Princess Ika and Prince Borealis were often ignored by Queen Australis after the funeral, even though the two siblings were mourning too. Several years after the death of Princess Siarah, because of Queen Australis having health issues and being so devastated, in 2007, Princess Ika was made ruler of the Overland, even though she was only 12. Despite this, Ika felt like she had to be ruler because she was the eldest. Every year, on Siarah’s birthday and on the day of her death, Ika would visit her younger sister’s grave and speak to her as if she were still alive. Even though Ika is 30 now and has her son, who also has EIDS, she’s still hopeful since medical practices have improved. She still thinks about her younger sister Siarah and never forgot about her. If Princess Siarah were still alive, she’d be 25.
