Any type of premise(roleplays as well) can be used if written correctly with a good start, great characterizing/development, and usually not having a long boring moments (try to avoid long battles for instance) and should be fine. Now, if you want more action/battles. A journey across equestria in search for a specific artifact could work well.

Well, it depends on how you want to play this type of adventure. Is this a mystery adventure (where character find clues/find a murderer), or do you want to fight off enemy on a journey? Is it more of a slice of life where characters walk around Equestria/wherever where their characters develop over time/possibly love each othe?

The toxic colors ream in. It seeps though the underground as her eyes lays over her court. Her domain. She owns this land when the moon towers over the mountain of Canterlot. To do what she has done it was not of her want, but of need. Her blue eyes stare with regret. "Twilight Sparkle, what have you done?" She had said to herself. Only to see what everything that's gone forth. The murders, the chaos in Canterlot. Ponies all frantic. Not to mention, Twilight Sparkle to be forced into Princesshood with still no whereabouts of our dear sister. Twilight, though strong as she might portray herself to the public. Still cries under the sheets like she was a foal. What could have done? Even bringing in the detective and his group that was able to save the elements only made things much worst. From what she has heard from guards and Twilight Sparkle, it just caused more deaths. She has not been able to mourn her dear sister. Too much to do, so little time. It won't be long before- The sound of wings flapping in the moonlight. As the hooves land on the balcony. A exhausted sigh comes from her lips, as she steps out of the balcony. The months have not been kind on her. Her all-encompassing mane has lost it's luster, lying on the floor. bags under her eyes. Even an alicorn needs beauty sleep. The princess of the night, sees one of her Nighthunters. "Quickly Point" you could hear voice being slightly raspy. "Do you have any news of your work with the Detective?" ---- "Well, the lack of citizen has a lot of questions to be asked. Such as why they are a good amount of ponies hiding? Is it out of fear? Or is it something else? Maybe it isn't all of them, maybe there just a small amount, but there was a questionable action that happen after Celestia's disappearance." "Out of nowhere, the instate of Princess Twilight Sparkle. A pony well known for being Celestia's student. A pony she cared VERY much and did not hid that action one bit. She has taken over Celestia's position. It wouldn't look too hard to either see that A) She is very sad that she taken over or B ) she was the one that taken Celestia. There is TOO much speculation on the grounds that nopony knows what happen to Celestia. No body was found and they can only assume the worst." "So, we have various murders, a "tyrannical" princesses with any type of distaste of the government. All of that creates, rebels." (Will check for grammar later)

I guess, you can say a part of "me" will be playing Luna. (So yeah, I'll just take care of it)

"If these events continue to occur, Hypno. It might not be long before you'll be put into action." Carrick said to him. "Sooner or later one side will intervene, be it the 'rebels' or the murder. Though I do fear that it could be the latter might never come." The detective rubbed his forehead. "Quickly, you probably should go over to see what has happen. However, if you don't return by the hour, I might have to investigate. Just take note of that." The detective stared at the window.

A lot of thoughts came towards the young detective. Surely he can find something to do. However, he wasn't one to jump the gun. Carrick saw Azura and Hypno go into the scene. He glance at both of them. "Just some small investigating. Best we better wait, it could be a small problem" Carrick assumed.

Carrick took a bit to think about it. "No, we don't have much evidence except for blood. This pony, a bloody killer, doesn't drop items. Though I've inclined to believe that the suspect is using a magic weapon. A lot of magical residue and those magic weapons would be able to hide the body until they can leave. Still, we might need to give those ponies protection or use them as a bait to find him." The detective right ear twitch, a sudden change of time. As if the sun was tackled down by figuratively football players, the light escaped and the moon took over. It was night time, the moon light stare over the city in the mountains. Have we been out this long? No this seems....artificial. When did Luna? "I'm sorry, Starbolt." Carrick turned around and open the door. Seeing the night skies right above him. The soft sounds of anger coming from the east. Sounds like trouble. He turned to Quickly. "Hey, Quickly. Care to explain why Luna might have bought in the moon so early?"

We are at a point where adding a character will be out of the question. So, no slots open until who knows.

Carrick cleared his throat, "basically," the detective replied. The earth pony trotted towards the burnt marks, staring at them. Still to have somepony attack Starbolt. I don't recall her in any of the files. Why was she targeted? Could they have know? Do they know what happen in the Ice Star incident? "There have been two recently murders and a...suicide that had happen in the course of a day. The correlation might be in the files, because certain ponies in those files have been murdered. If you can find any type of magical trace that might be a start. Not to mention...I only trust you . I can tell something bigger is happening. Very few ponies outside, no one saying much. Nothing is adding up. which means something big is happening." Carrick said. "So, any help with this might be perfect."

The detective placed his hoof on the top of his fedora. The queasy feeling of seeing an ex is unsettling. Especially....her. Why? Not to mention, that giant burnt wall. That's...new. "I'm here...to talk to you about your expertise. Hynpo and Azura here were just bringing down some papers for me and..." Carrick stare at the wall, "sorry, care to explain this?" He pointed at it.

Carrick took his time to walk towards his Starbolt's door. It really has been a while since we've talked. I wonder if she's gotten over me. We weren't compatible....that's all. Driven by the adrenaline of the case to which we don't care what lies ahead. I guess when things die down, you see the true side of both of us. A detective who only lives for mysteries and a pony who wants...something else. Carrick saw Fae unlock the front door as Carrick just walked up and got inside. Seeing Starbolt, just as she was..."Hey." the detective muttered.

Carrick tapped his hoof on his chin, the detective look towards the walls. There was certainly something going on here. Though would be the big question. Magical residues can only give you so much. He sighed softly, "Well, not much I can really do here. Best we better go to Starbolt's place." The detective trotted away. There was something wrong with it, but he couldn't put his hoof on it. However, it didn't seem like it would be useful as he move towards Starbolt's place.

"Just follow us. I am unsure of what will be ahead of us. The more ponies we have here, the better. Hypno and Azura can take care of themselves." Carrick replied. Trotting right behind Quickly. He was unsure of what lies ahead, but continues to trot along. His thoughts continue to lie ahead of backlash of all these murders that happened today.

Carrick turned to Phoenix. "Yeah, we're going to do a bit of investigation. Knowing Quickly's senses on this, we better go check it out. Even if it's some random civilian. With a smaller group. We won't look as intimating." Carrick explained. "You, Me and Quickly are moving. Lead the way, Quickly." Carrick replied.

Carrick took his time to consider his options. Canterlot ponies could be big trouble and if we were to investigate it could lead to a backlash. Not to mention if they find the dead body, it could lead to more trouble. However, if the pony was on the same area as Phoenix. Why didn't Phoenix notice?...or maybe she didn't want us to know. Nevertheless, with the dead body. We need to act fast. "Alright, we're going to go in teams of two here." Carrick took out his folders and scan the information. The detective had dangerous material in his hooves and if he stay in the open with it. It could be trouble. The earth pony walk over to Hypno and gave him the files. "You and Azura go to...." Carrick gave a soft sigh. He knew of one pony who would be able to help us.... "Starbolt's place. I'm positive that she is trustworthy enough." Carrick turned to Lazarus. "You, I'm apologize for not knowing your name, but I need you to make this area secure this alleyway and follow us right after. Something is amiss here."

"Phoenix is not here?" Carrick didn't seem to notice the orange mare had probably been still down in the alleyway, as he commanded. He didn't want to leave the body unattended though. The death count is adding up. It won't be long until somepony founds out one of the dead body How long can we keep this up? Carrick looked at the blood on the floor and the dead mare. "Somepony close this part of the alleyway up. We'll take the other way out and find Phoenix. She shouldn't be too far away." Carrick said. Turning himself away from the body and walking to the other way.

Carrick stare at the dead body. Everyone was a bit in shocked that this pony had committed suicide out of nowhere. It did seem....extreme to just off yourself? Was this pony connected? Did this pony even know what the folder had? The detective walk over to the pony and took the folder. A puddle of red was on the folder. The detective look inside again. Just as he thought, the names of the ponies were on each paper. Containing a few information about them, where they worked, where they were living, relationship status. He took a few skims at each paper and saw some ponies that weren't killed. Would they be part of the next murderer? Well, it's a connection and a lead. Guess this is good after all. "Alright, looks like we have something going on. However, we better find a more hidden place to talk about it. If one pony found this while we were searching. Talking about it in public could lead to trouble."

Carrick galloped his way right into the alleyway. Where he saw the thief who took the files. The shifting eyes gave a sense that this pony was thinking the options though. We had ponies who had survived against one the most arguably strongest ponies alive. Of course nopony knew that, but a small few. For all the thief knew, we were just part of the police squad. The pony held the folders in the air, "One move and the folder goes." the androgynous voice didn't tell this pony's gender. Carrick took his time to stare the contents of the folder. One more peak, and he might be able to just interpret the the murderer. No weapons and no magic don't make this pony a threat. However, this pony could be the murderer. The cloak was big enough to hide claws. "Why did you take the folders?" Carrick ask. "You don't have the right to ask that question....I have the folders and if you willing to chase me down...they must mean something." The hesitation of this pony's voice gave the impression that she had no idea what she is holding. This vagueness could be used as an advantage. "We chase you down, because you were in the crime scene. Not because you holding the folders. I've already checked the folders, they have nothing in them." "T-that's not true, because...." The pony dragged out her words, trying to find a reason. The earth pony interrupted her, "Here's a better question. Why were you there in the first place? You must of seen the blood and the dead body. Why?" The pony stuttered all over the place. "Look, if you done nothing wrong. You can just come with-" The detective's instinct come in and a long blade comes out of the cloak. "No...I can't let you do that. I'm not...questioning...." The sword was raised and then....pierced into the stomach....

There wasn't much to do anything. Quickly made his move, as well as Hypno with his magic attacks. The pony simply took his time to jump into an alley to avoid the confortation. Carrick was prepared. The pony didn't look like a unicorn so teleportation was out of the question, but it doesn't mean that trapping him will end well. "Phoenix, go around and try to caught him from behind. Azura, you're with me."

The pony didn't take any chance to look behind, the pony knew that being chased down, by a few ponies. The sounds of wings fluttering with the clip-clop of ponies galloping was just enough for him to take caution when he felt magic come by on his feet. He took a leap of faith and jump onto another building. He needed to get away from them... ----- Carrick took his time to think of a plan, seeing where everypony was. It was only a matter of time for all of us to lose him if they do anything. Quickly is fast enough to catch him, but can he overpower the pony? Hypno certainly has the magic power, but losing the files in the crossfire would end badly. Azura's magic powers are too erratic to be used and Phoenix....is slow and probably weak. She could only be used as a diversion. Carrick started to consider everything as the pony continue to flee from the scene.
