Shout! Factory released an official trailer. Apparently it contains the extended recording of the theme...?

Oh the awesomeness has indeed been doubled... 40% cooler?

I don't mind if Shout releases the entire series only on individual DVDs like this, as long as we get all the episodes within time, plus being an anime fan, i'm used to companies using this method (more profit for them in the long run too). Heck, I don't mind its not in fancy Blu-ray or chronological order either. I'd rather save my pennies and get Blu-ray versions of shows/films that are worth seeing in super hi-depth. While MLP has great animation, I just personaly don't think its worth going out of my way and getting a Blu-ray version of it.

My only nitpick is that it better be widescreen. If I know something was made in widescreen, I want it in widescreen. I hate getting a cropped screen and not see the whole picture. Plus these days widescreen is the new standard, so having something like this in fullscreen seems downright silly. So I hope the detail about this DVD being in fullscreen on Amazon is just a typo. The Target DVD and freebee DVD that came with the toys was widescreen afteral.

Anyways, for only $10 on Amazon i'm gonna order it soon and support the show.

you know I'd never buy it, i'll just wait until the bonus thingies are on youtube, however, since now my mother nows I'm a brony, and I'm hoping I will still be one when my birthday comes, and since my parents know I'm a brony, there is a chance they'll get it for my birthday

Yeah, Amazon made a mistake, it's actually in widescreen. No 5.1 surround audio, unfortunately (it's 2.0 stereo).

I'm going to buy this only because it has the full two minute long version of the opening theme! I'm very disappointed though. It's a "Best Of" DVD, and not in broadcast order! Here's the episode list:

Friendship Is Magic, Part 1 (Mare In The Moon)

Friendship Is Magic, Part 2 (Elements Of Harmony)

Over A Barrel

Hearth’s Warming Eve

The Last Roundup

Why oh why didn't they release it as disc one of the series? I would rather a complete box set, but I would have bought all the discs as they were released! That's how I got all of Teen Titans. In fact, I have two copies of the first Teen Titans disc, because they changed formats and started releasing as two disc sets after i bought the first one! I'm still waiting for stupid Disney to release a Kim Possible box set too! In case anyone is wondering, as I bought the Teen Titans discs, I deleted the corresponding downloaded episodes ontil I only had the series on DVD. I will do the same for both MLP:FIM and Kim Possible!

Because according to Shout, Hasbro wanted to have themed DVDs. I'm sure if Shout had thier way they would have released all the episodes in chronological order.

Oh and, didnt this thingy's name have something to do with a train? It actually includes the first 2 episodes and then the 3 episodes in wich a train has appeared, so it makes sense

You are exactly right. This DVD is to help promote that new train set Habro is currently pushing. Which is why it also has such an odd selection of episodes. (I would personally have Heart's Warming Eve on a separate Holiday or winter themed DVD.)

Because remember folks: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic exists becuase Hasbro wanted to sell toys, not the other way around, just like all other MLP cartoons before it.This is also why the toys aren't show accurate and leftover, creepy-looking, G3.5 toys rebranded into G4 toys. If the show itself was thier core product *then* we would be seeing show accurate toys and proper DVD releases.

I still think it's such a shame. I bet if Hasbro announced that they were permitting Shout to release a box set too, they'd have real trouble keeping it in stock.

Is there a particular logic to the episodes released on the DVD? I understand the inclusion of both parts of "Friendship is Magic", but I would expect them to thus proceed in broadcast order with the episodes, i.e., FiM pts 1 and 2, The Ticket Master, Applebuck Season, and Griffon the Brush Off. That is how most DVDs for television shows are designed. Why the episodes are all over the place perplexes me.

Still, I'm looking forward to buying the DVD.

Well, it's better than nothing. At least it means that they're moving towards DVD's and it's safe to asume once they get enough income they'll go bigger and start the DVD boxsets we all want.

Here's an idea, since it's going to be only 5 episodes, it might not be worth purchasing. If we're gonna watch it just for the bonus materials, then maybe someone can upload it onto youtube and then we can all check it out for free.

I look it at from this perspective: while I have a good portion of the episodes on my computer (most of which are not available anywhere but online), I also want to encourage continued releases of MLP: FiM products which are accessible to bronies. I figure buying at least one DVD set is a simple way of saying "thank you" to everyone involved in the production of the show.

And yes, it is a very oddball selection of episodes, but the later 3 episodes all have trains in them, which is what Hasbro is trying to sell right now, thus the train theme, as stated. Edited by SailorCardKnight
