What if S1 had gone ahead and been a Nightmare Moon arc?

Originally Lauren Faust wanted S1 to be a season-long story about Nightmare Moon but Hasbro nixed that idea. I am curious just how you think it would've played out?

It would at least be entertaining for the first two episodes, but then again Lauren knows how to make things entertaining. I guess it could have given Nightmare Moon a better opportunity for development than the two parter did.

Well, it's tough to assume what it would have been like based on the varying quality of the two episodes we did get. It probably would have been epic though

 

I actually hope they do something like that one season, or at least have an extended arc. I'm thinking you can only do slice of life stuff for so long until you start to run low on good ideas

I think it would have been interesting if they had made Nightmare Moon into a subject extending over multiple episodes throughout the first season. But it would have taken longer for it to end in that case.

 It probably would have been interesting enough. The only problem is then we wouldn't have had all of the awesome S1 episodes that we have today.

Not just slice of life stuff but also without getting very dark. It's more than apparent that Hasbro prefers to play it safe.

 

OT: It would have been interesting as it would have fleshed out Nightmare Moon as more of a villain which may have made princess Luna's redemption that much more hard-hitting.

 

But come on, I really loved Party of One and The Best Night Ever. I can't really imagine S1 without them

They could use a large part of season 5 with an extended story arc of Luna having "flashbacks", that way it doesn't derail the main story but still fleshes out nightmare...
