Old Fluttershy 349 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 Okay I love the CMC they are my favorite ponies in the show. And I know that the whole point of them is to find their cutie marks but do you feel that it just comes off as them being idiots. In Season:1 Episode:18 The Show Stoppers I felt they were going to switch jobs but they didn't and I just thought "really". Plus the fact that everypony else tells them that they need to find their true selves to get their Cutie Marks but they just shove this as idiotic advice. So what do you think? Are the CMC just getting to be stupid or is there some underlying factor that I'm not seeing?
Digit 321 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 (edited) I dont think they are idiots, they are children. With rather large egos. More of a oblivious type if any thing. Although I've always seen them as more of a story of growing up and finding your calling. I wouldn't be able to count how many times as a kid I said I wanted to do this and that till Finnally I just realized what my calling was. child of the night 271 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 I feel like you are overlooking the fact that they are still kids... Witch explains quite a lot.
Pinkamena-Pills 6,840 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 They are not dummies, they are just anxious fillies that are a little bit impatient about getting their cutie marks. They are not idiots, however there continued desire to get their cutie marks by any means necessary an cause them to do things that would be considered silly and also blinds them to what their obvious talents may be. Oatmeal, are you crazy?! "Silly, you are already under my control."- Pinkie Pie Signature made by me, because resistance truly is futile, silly. Currently still undergoing maintenance. Yes, i can do that, im a program, silly.
Everleaf 542 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 (edited) I would not say idiots in a way it does come with kids around 8 to 10 or even younger (which is likely around the age they are) so no not really for example many people as children longed to find what their (talent) actually is. Pastel 7,630 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 I don't find them idiots at all. Finding their talent is a very serious matter, and even for us humans.
Ashen Pathfinder 16,164 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 They're just over-amitious fillies who have little patience for waiting. Nothing more, nothing less. Though I will say that it seems like they have matured somewhat in season 4; which was nice to see. Old Fluttershy 349 July 3, 2014 Author Share July 3, 2014 (edited) Well thanks for making me feel bad and for the insight on why. I'm just surprised that after 4 seasons they still have yet to find what makes them special. So here's hoping that in season 5 they finally get their Cutie Marks. Jeric 46,880 July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 The CMC started with them pining for their cutie marks, which was fine since it added a little world building along the way. It slowly evolved from that being the focus of the characters. Now their tale is more a coming of age template. Each has been tested with issues that a child growing up would face independent of their search for their talent. Sibling relationships, the yearning for a personal connection to a role model, the need to start being more independent, the frustration of your personal limitations, etc All of this set amoungst three children becoming the closest of friends. It's a G rated and Ponified Stand By Me / The Body.
