Shooting looked at the Crystal Empire. I wonder how all this survived under Sombra's reign... Shooting thought. She got close to the Crystal Heart, wondering, How was it made? How did no pony accidentally break it? Oh well. If only the Crystal Ponies would tell us. Shooting sat down in the shade of a nearby tree, watching as the civilians walked by cheerfully.

Suddenly an overly hyper young filly with sunglasses on seemed to cone right out of nowhere right in Shooting's face. 

 

"Hi!" The little girl shouted. Her happy expression was matched by her practically vibrating body. "Who are you? What's your name? Mine's Aqua Marry. What are you doing here? I don't see soft-skin ponies up here too often." Her questions seemed to be on a rappid fire mode.

Shooting was surprised when a filly was asking questions in her face.

 

"H-hi." Shooting greeted. "I'm Shooting. I'm here because I wanted to see... The Crystal Empire." Shooting said calmly and quietly. Does this filly have an off switch? Wait, what does she mean, "soft-skin ponies" and she doesn't see them often? There's some on the train up here. Shooting thought, adding it to the list of questions that wouldn't be answered easily.

"Oh you wanted to see the Crystal Empire? What exactly did you want to see? Cause I've been following you around ever since you got off the train and saw you didn't go to any of the big attractions that soft-skins normally go to whenever they come up here. You never went to see the sports stadium, or that really fun looking diner that's just a little bit away from the train station. The only thing you did was go straight to the..." Aqua gasped and stood between shooting and the Crystal Heart with a face that she tried best to make look menacing. "You're not going to steal the crystal heart are you?!"

"Wait, you were following me? That's not nice." Shooting said, seriously. She slightly giggled at Aqua's attempt to be menacing. "No, I was just looking, I had questions about it but it's a secret and I don't think you can keep this big of a secret." Shooting said. She's kinda annoying and a bit rude. I want her to run off but at the same time, stay. Shooting thought.

"All right this looks to be the last of it, wait hold that thought, theres one more"

Finally the last crate was stacked onto the leaning pile and once she was sure it only looked Amber wiped her brow, collected her payment, and cleared out. A quick glance at her business calendar confirmed that she had two down weeks before she was due in Cloudsdale for another delivery. Sighing in boredom she pocketed her calender and headed to the closest attraction, The open air market.

 

If there was one thing Amber had trouble with, it was handling free time. She had walked the market place twice, buying only some hay fries and a hard cider, and still for the love of Celestia could not find a spot to sit. Finally she decided on a grassy hill overlooking the Crystal Palace, it would have made a great place to sit and take a nap if it weren't for the incessant rambling of some foal nearby.

((OOC: Just to let you know, my intro posts are usually very long. ))

 

A bright-eyed Pegasus with a brilliant white, crystal coat trotted through the streets of the Crystal Empire, happily waving at ponies that she passed by. She may have seemed that she was headed somewhere, but in reality, she was just wandering. Today was her day off, and her coworkers/ friends Crystal Light and Icy Stars were taking care of her shop. Hence, she didn't have much to do.

Eventually she found herself wandering near the Crystal Heart. She had never had a good look at it before, so she didn't mind.

The mare stopped near the Heart, admiring it. She wondered how it came to be. Did somepony sculpt it and enchant it? Or something else?

If it was the former, then she greatly respected the talent of whoever had sculpted it, being a sculptor herself. She could sculpt ice no problem, but crystal was more of a challenge, and she'd never gotten either to become a perfect heart.

A white Pegasus with clear blue eyes and long hair looked down at the Crystal Empire with curiosity and awe from the cloud she was perched on.. She didn't know much about the Empire, just remembered growing up as a filly and seeing nothing there, then one day, an entire Empire just appeared out of nowhere. She'd been there once or twice, but still knew next to nothing about it, except for King Sombra's reign, but even that knowledge was limited.

The turquoise-and-yellow-maned mare grinned as she watched ponies walk through the streets below. She'd always been curious about the Empire and it's past, and today, she vowed to satisfy that unending curiosity of hers and find some answers.

She slid off her cloud and drifted to the ground, at the outskirts of the Empire, as she alighted, she gazed in awe at the beauty of it. The Crystal Palace towered above her, the crystals glittering in the sunlight.

She shook out of her daze and started trotting down a street. She'd studied the map of the Empire earlier and knew the way to her first stop; the Crystal Heart.

Aqua's "attempting to be menacing" face faded into a fade of shame. "I'm sorry Ms. Shooting, it's just I've been really protective about the Crystal Heart since yesterday. You see, it told me that something bad is going to happen to it." Aqua realized that she'd better explain what she was talking about to the mare.

 

"Ok so yesterday here was REALLY bright outside. I was wearing my sunglasses like I was supposed to because I have special eyes." She moved her sunglasses down and showed that her eyes were literally glowing. "Neat huh? So anyway I was up here trying to see if I could just from that tree you're sitting under to that one over there. Well, I couldn't and fell on my face. That broke the pair of sunglasses I was wearing. When I looked up I was staring right at the Crystal Heart. I guess the heart acts like me because some sunlight hit it and reflected it right into my eyes. Normally when that happens I just turn into a pony disco ball. But instead...it gave me these weird dreams about something bad involving it and a soft-skin like you. So I hope you can understand why I was following you around."

 

Her face instantly became excited again. "So can I know your secret?"

Realizing that she wasn't going to be getting much sleep Amber finished off her fries and dragged herself to her hooves. Bored with the bustling marketplace, she instead trotted towards the magnificent palace, finally she stopped short of the crystalline blue heart that hovered in the middle of the city. "How the hell does a glorified piece of jewelry protect an entire empire from evil?" she muttered to herself. Spying a nearby white pegasus mare, Amber waved her hoof in a gesture to call her over. "Hey, do you know if this thing actually works or if it just a bunch of ceremonial mumbo jumbo these ponies put up for tradition?"

"It's alright, you're just... Trying to... Protect the Crystal Heart..." Shooting said, slightly going into her own world. She shook it out of her head. "Sorry. Got a bit derailed there for a moment." Shooting said.

 

Shooting looked a bit confused at the fact the filly's eyes are glowing but still listened. "That makes some sense..." Shooting said, still comprehending the situation.

 

"You did tell me yours... But don't tell anypony alright? It's a secret mission I was assigned to come here." Shooting said, stalling herself to debate whether-or-not to ask the filly about Sombra. Shooting found it fun and silly to be pretending that it was a mission.

Aqua's interests were peaked even more now. "Oh a mission?! Are you a spy or somepony like that? Did the princesses send you? Or are you here because you know something bad is going to happen with the Crystal Heart too?" Marry's ears perk up when she heard somepony nearby ask something about the Crystal Heart.

Shooting looked around, pretending like there was somepony watching them and then looked back at the sparkling filly. "My friend sent me, she's a spy." Shooting said, almost whispering. "Don't tell anyone, alright my little pony?" Shooting asked. She enjoyed messing with the filly a bit. A bit.

Out of the corner of her eye, Diamond saw somepony looking at her and waving a hoof. As she turned to look at her straight-on, she found that the mare was beckoning her.

As she drew nearer, the Earth pony asked about the Crystal Heart.

"Just ceremonial stuff?" She echoed. "No, it's not just ceremonial, and far from mymbo-jumbo. I can see why some ponies would be skeptical, but it does, in fact, work."

"Huh? Well that's pretty cool I guess. Wonder who thought of that?" she thought aloud before stifling a yawn. Turning away from the blue heart, Amber examined the mare who had approached her.  She was maybe one or two years younger than Amber and had an almost iridescent white, yet not completely crystalline, coat. It took all of Amber's will not to open with a bad pickup line, but somehow she managed a simple "hey, name's Amber" accompanied by a hoofshake.

 

((In case it has some significance in the future; what is the Equestrian (or more specifically Crystal Empire) drinking age?))

Forge hated the cold. He hated being what seemed like the only normal unicorn in the crystal empire, and he hated the cold...or did he alread mention that. He finished up at his forge and decided to close for the day. Business was slow and he needed some supplies. Forge headed out of his nice, warm, cozy house/forge and walked around the city center, buying metals and trading little trinkets he'd made. When he finished his rounds, he was about to head home, when he noticed a couple of mares motioning towards the heart. He shook his head and was about to head home when he noticed a couple of mares motioning towards the Crystal Heart and acting like they were talking about it. He almost smiled. He could understand why so many ponies came to see it. He'd lived in the empire for...how long had it been? A while, and yet it still was a mystery to him. Then again, he wasn't a crystal pony, he was just a regular old unicorn. He walked up to the two mares to see if they were still talking about he Crystal Heart.

"Yes ma'am!" Aqua gave a salute like she saw the guards do all the time. "It's good to know that ponies like you are here to help keep our Crystal Heart safe. You know it's the thing that protects the Crystal Empire from a lot of bad magic. Or at least that's what my teacher told me."

"I've been wondering how it came to be myself," Diamond mused, gazing over at the Crystal Heart. She turned back to the mare and returned the hoof shake when she heard her introduce herself.

"I'm Diamond Dust," she said, giving her an easy grin.

She heard hoofsteps coming closer and turned her head to see the source. Upon seeing a stallion approaching, she turned back to Amber, assuming he was coming to see her. "He your friend?' she asked, gesturing to the stallion in question.

Okay, maybe she'd been a little overconfident.

The white Pegasus had indeed studied the map, but either it was old, or she hadn't studied well enough. Still, there wasn't really any trouble. She eventually decided to just fly over.

Now, why didn't I think of this earlier? she thought, mentally rolling her eyes at herself as she alighted not far from the Crystal Heart.

Looking around, the teenaged pony found that there weren't many ponies by the Heart, and even less Crystal Ponies.

Seeing two ponies by a tree, she figured she'd try her luck there. It looked like somepony was going to meet the other two, who were shaking hooves, and she didn't want to bother all three of them.

As she trotted up to them, she heard something about the Crystal Heart. She didn't quite get all of it, but she grinned anyway. Any little tidbit of information could help cure her curiosity.

She stopped close to them and cleared her throat to get their attention, but politely.

"Hi..." She trailed off, suddenly feeling awkward. She shook her head and tried again.

"Um, hi. I'm Winter Light. I'm just here for the day to learn about the Crystal Heart, and I overheard you saying something about it. Do you think you could tell me anything about it? I'm not well versed in the Crystal Empire's history."

Amber smiled as Diamond Dust returned the greeting and then looked as she heard hoofsteps approaching from behind. "Nope sorry, never seen him in my life" she said in response to Diamond's question when her eyes fell on the grey unicorn stallion walking towards them. "You from around here mister?" She asked once he was within speaking range.

Forge nodded to Amber. "I am. Name's Forge. I run the smithy just down the road from here. I was gathering some supplies and I over heard you two talking about the Heart. Thought I might learn a thing or two about it since she looks like a local." Upon saying this he motions towards Diamond Dust, who he then turns to and asks "You are a crystal pony aren't you? You're kind of shining. Either way, you had a bit of knowledge about the Heart and I was interested in learning more about it. I'm a smith by trade and I've worked with crystal before, but nothing I've ever made has...floated...or glowed...or shot lasers out of it like I've heard the heart has. So, would you know how it works?"

Shooting nodded her head to the filly. She turned to the new face. "All I know... about the heart is that it defends from evil beings..." Shooting said to the new pony there. She kept herself against the tree still. This has been an interesting conversation so far. Shooting thought.

From behind her glasses Aqua's eyes shot up with excitement as she dashed up to the new pony. "Oh I know all about the Crystal Heart! We just learned about it in school last month! The Crystal Heart keeps us here in the Empire safe from all sorts of bad guys that want to hurt us. Like Windigos, Snow Monsters, Gem Eaters, and big bad dark evil kings! Some ponies also say that it's where Crystal Ponies came from."

After walking for what seemed like hours, Hazmat meets a small group of ponies. He walks up to the group, not to close, more like a few meters away. "Hallo..." He says cautiously, unsure of what they would do. He stayed quiet for a bit as he scan their posture, looks, and style. Zey seem alright... He thought to himself as he soon looks at each pony in the eyes.

(If I'm lost just say so.... I have no idea on what I should do.)

"Vell, ja." Hazmat replies as his posture straightens a bit. "Ich been vondering how crystal vorks vith since ich had a bit of an accident vith zem..." He lifts his wing up showing the red neon glowing vanadium. "Ze crystals... vell... crystalized my inner vings." He informs. "Und I vas vondering if some pony can see how it is.. Ich dunno much about crystals..." Hazmat adds in.
