Shooting nodded. "That's interesting. Sadly I don't know much either about crystals." Shooting said. She thought his story got straight to the point, which she liked. Shooting smiled under the shade of the tree which she was glad was there. Her questions about the Crystal Empire popped back into her head.

"Oh, vell, okay. Can ich join your little... passé?" Hazmat asks almost as if a bit shy to ask in fear of rejection. She seemed nice, but is she nicer? His faint glowing neon red irises were looking at her eyes. Calmly waiting for the reply of the mare. It was almost a bit awkward for him to ask a stranger to "join up" with her.

I'm a Crystal Pegasus, actually,"Diamond Dust said, giving the stallion a sheepish smile at his next set of questions.

"Sorry, but I honestly don't know how it works, or how it came to be. My guess is that it was enchanted or something, but I wouldn't know," she said, "All I really know is that it does work, really."

The Crystal Pegasus turned to look at the Heart.

"I don't know of its origin either, like I already said. It was already here when I was born, before..." She trailed off, not wanting to bring up Sombra's reign, over a millennium ago. She didn't have anything like PTSD and never had, but that didn't mean she liked remembering that time.

Winter listened eagerly to the filly's words, and was about to respond, when some pony came up to them and greeted them. She started to say hello, but the mare who had first spoken to her started speaking first. So she gave him a friendly wave and turned back to the filly.

"Do you know anything else about it?" she asked eagerly, giving the little Crystal Pony a bright smile.

Amber nodded her head in agreement with Diamond, "I ain't got anything neither. I mean, I'd heard stories and all but I always just assumed they were hogwash and tradition up until Diamond here told me otherwise. Hell I even thought the thing was pink before seeing it today" she added with a chuckle as she held out a hoof to the stallion. "Anyway it's nice to meetcha Forge, the name's Amber and this pretty little mare is Diamond Dust."

The Crystal Empire... what a sight to see.

 

Eternity just stepped off the train from Canterlot. He stood in awe, looking at the gorgeous crystalline buildings and not to mention the amazing centerpiece that was the palace. Simply amazing. Hard to believe this entire place wasn't here for 1000 years and neither were these ponies too. I wonder if any of them knew what it was like before Sombra. I wonder if they knew what Equestria was like 1000 years ago. He left the train station and immediately started trotting though the city looking around with curiosity. Most of the things he brought were in his saddlebags, mostly books and papers, some bits as well if he has to buy any food or souvenirs. Let's see what to do first. Could check out the library, might be some interesting old books in there! He then stopped for a moment once he saw the Crystal Heart from a distance. It was quite a wondrous piece; there was something ominous and alluring about it as well. I did come here to study gemstone and crystals... why not look at the most powerful one here? He turned and then walked over the the Heart itself. There were some ponies all having conversations near the heart, most of them not even Crystal Ponies. He ignored them for the most part and walked straight to the Heart. He got up close to it and started analyzing it. He even took out a notebook and starting writing on it. ​Fascinating...

"I'm not really sure what hogwash means, but it sounds like you were saying that you thought the Crystal Heart was fake. You better not go around town saying that, if you want to keep all your teeth. We take the Heart very seriously."

Forge nodded to both of the mares politely, but didn't say anything. He wasn't a very social pony, most of his social interactions being business deals, so he didn't really know what to say. He shook Amber's hoof and finally decided to reply with "Well, its a pleasure to make your aquantinces."

"Sure. So what's your name? I'm Shooting." Shooting introduced. She felt silly but wanted to ask the crystal ponies about Sombra soon. But when? She also wanted to hit the library to find out more, if possible, for Sombra but it felt wrong for some reason to do that.

"Names Hazmat." The dark pony replied as he walks over to the group. Now that he can get a better look, He eyes everyone of them. The posture, the style, etc. Just to see if they can be friends, or foe. "Nice to meet you Shooting." Hazmat starts up; looking towards her.

A white unicorn in a modest, purple dress with arrived on that same train, though she took her time. Just like what the scrolls and the books say… This place is truly magnificent. She took the time to explore a little bit of the beautiful city, finding it shinier than Canterlot, but lacking the warm colors of Equestria's rich capital.  Still, you don't get a break from scribing everyday, so new sights are always welcome, especially if there's local lore to be studied. 

After exploring a bit, her path brought her to the Crystal Heart itself.  A picture may say a thousand words, but the real-deal is another story.  In this case, a wondrous, mystical story.  She stood between the nearby group of ponies and a unicorn who was taking notes. "'A crystal with a shining light, an icon of the North's love'," she quoted from a poem to herself, but loud enough that others might be able to hear.

Unbeknownst to her, a small bottle of black ink dropped out of her saddlebag and rolled into Amber Skies' hoof.

Eternity paused his analysis when e heard the mare behind him speak. Normally He would have ignored her, but she quoted a poem he heard before. That caught his attention. Eternity thought that perhaps she knew a thing or two about the empire. "'In an Empire forever bright, as peaceful as a white dove'." He stated the next line in the poem. The turned around to look at her. "I see you know your literature. Have you come to look at the heart as well?" He said to the mare.

"Zat's neat." Hazmat was always up to learn. "I came here for-almost-ze same zing." He replies. "Mostly for ze vings zough." He looks at his wings. "Soft und as light as a feather." He comments on the Vanadium Sulphrite wings.

She looked a little surprised when the stallion spoke up.  She hadn't met another pony who expressed interest in poetry.  Then again, she was always tied up with her scribing job, so it would've been difficult to sit down for tea and cake anyways.  "I have actually," she said, smiling all lady-like for a moment before gazing up at the Crystal Heart again.  "I'm no mage, but the magic of this kingdom and its inhabitants fascinate me.  I mean, repelling a villain with a force fueled by hope and love?  I wonder if any of that magic remained during Sombra's rule?"  She then stopped, remembering her manners.  "Oh, where are my manners?  I'm Silver Brush," she said, doing the pony version of a small curtsy.

"Vell, ja ich guess." Hazmat replies. The question of all question has been asked by the female questioner. "Vell, ich vas born in Germane, zen moved into canterlot by some tourists from canterlot." He explains. "I vas basically adopted by zem. Und now I make chemicals zanks to zem giving me many options in ze beginning of my life." He soon ended.

Amber smiled and put her hoof down when she heard a quiet ringing, looking down she saw that she had kicked a small vial of black liquid. Picking it up she studied it a second before glancing up at Forge and Diamond. "Hey did one of you drop this?" she asked holding out the small vial.

Diamond blushed slightly at being called a "pretty little mare." She doubted anypony had called her anything like that before, much less somepony she'd just met. She wasn't quite sure why she had blushed, though. Probably from being surprised, she figured.

She held out a white hoof to Forge for a hoofshake, wearing a casual grin on her muzzle.

"Nice to make your acquaintance too. As Amber already mentioned, the name's Diamond Dust," she said.

Forge shook Diamond's hoof. He tried to smile back, but couldn't manage it, so he ended up with an almost painful looking half smirk. Fearing he might be making the wrong impression, and that his facial expression might be some horrendous deformed smile, Forge quickly looked away, towards Amber, and his face resumed is usual stony appearance. He heard her ask about the ink, and shrugged. "I work with metal and fire. I have no use for ink." Turning to Diamond Dust, he asked, "is that yours?"

"Hey tell ya what, if either of you two locals wanna tag along I'm gonna go find a nice place to eat, sleep, and probably get drunk" she said turning away from the heart. "You're both over the drinking age right? The last thing I need on my first night in the Crystal Empire is to be arrested for supplying minors" she said pausing and looking over her shoulder.

Forge merely lifted one eyebrow in response. (((He is in his late 20's to early 30's so he shouldn't appear that young. He'll assume she was messing with him...))) "As long as its hard. I won't drink until I'm out of it, just enough for a buzz I suppose. That is, if you're game as well?" He asks, looking at Diamond Dust. "I know of a few places that have some great cider."

Diamond shook her head.

"Nope, not mine. I'm an ice sculptor and have nopony to write to, so I have no use for ink. It probably rolled away from whoever dropped it," she replied.

 

Winter listened carefully and frowned at the last thing the filly mentioned.

"Bad dreams?" she echoed. "That doesn't sound very protects-ponies-from-bad-things-y to me. But it does sound magical. Either way, what do you mean by 'special ponies like me?'"

"Lead the way Forge" Amber said holding out a hoof in a dramatic bow as if presenting royalty. She looked back towards Diamond Dust who was still standing by the crystal heart, "you comin' along cutie? I wouldn't wan't you to miss out on all the fun" she said with a wink.

Diamond's blush at being called "cutie" was a bit more prominent than her reaction to being called a "pretty little mare."

She hesitated, not being much of a drinker - partially since she had only turned legal the year before, and partially because she didn't entirely see the appeal - but after a moment's thought she smiled and nodded. They seemed to both want her to come, and she didn't want to disappoint them. She just wouldn't have much alchohol.

Forge led the to a little bar not far from where they'd been. As you walk in, you notice Forge visibly relaxes. He walks up to the bar, and says to the barkeep "Hey Leeroy. Can I get three drinks? One for me and my two friends here?" A tan unicorn turns around, all smiles and charm. "Sure! Anything for you buddy." He looks over forges shoulder and whistles. "Oh shoot! Did you say they were friends of yours? Since when do you make friends as pretty as these two?" As he says this, the Barkeep shoots Amber a wink. Forge grits his teeth and says in a low voice "Just get the drinks." He turns to Diamond and Amber and says "First drinks are on me. If you don't like 'em, then we can try somewhere else."
