Diamond faintly heard somepony talking, and shuffled her hoof to reach for the snooze button, thinking the voice was a radio. All her hoof felt was the ground, and then the voice came louder.

She sat up groggily and started to yawn and stretch, but as soon as she opened her eyes, she snapped out of her sleepy daze. She immediately recognized where she was, and her eyes widened and ears flattened as she started to frantically look around.

She stammered out a few unintelligible words, her shock preventing her from speaking correctly.

She didn't want to be here. It was obvious something had happened to bring her to the past. Whether she was viewing it, or had actually been brought to the past, she didn't know. Either way, it didn't matter. All she knew was that she hoped this was a dream.

She stayed sitting there,not realizing there were others around her, ears fully flattened and her expression distraught.

The pony who woke them up looked over to Diamond. He was awestruck. He went over to her quickly. "H-how are you s-still, well, crystal-like?! Sombra forced us to work for him and we wish we were like you!" He stumbled over his own words. "Uhh miss?" He said, seeing her look of not wanting to be there.

"S-Sombra!? D-Did you say Sombra... no no no no..." He said the crystal pony. Eternity started to panic.  This can't be! No. What's going to happen to us! Are we going to become slaves!? No! I don't want to be a slave! No... just calm down. Calm... there must be a reason why... The Heart. When that mare bumped into it it reacted. Its magic sent us back in time. Incredible. Now is not a time to be marveled though. "Sir..." He said in a more calm voice, but there was still a hint of fear. "How long were we out? Did you see how we arrived here?"

He turned to Eternity. "I'm sorry. I don't know. I just walked up here for some good and plentiful water and found you all." He told him. He shook his head. "Once again, I'm sorry. One can not know any more. Sombra has made us find crystals for him to use so we're tired." He said gloomier than normal as he shook his head.

"Oh Luna my head, I swear I only had like 5 rounds" Amber groaned as she sat up and rubbed her temples. Slowly her mind began to register the gloomy surroundings before she squeezed her eyes shut and lay back down. "Nope, I am not doing this again, I swear this happens every time I get a hang over. I'm just gonna fall asleep and wake up in my cabin where I'm supposed to be" she told to herself. Unable to find comfort in unconsciousness, Amber warily reopened her eyes only to find the same sight at before. "Celestia screw me and get this over with damn it!" she cursed to herself.

 

((It took all my willpower not to get really colorful with the obscenities here, and I mean really colorful.))

Forge was standing there, his mouth open. An unusual expression for him. He finally closed his mouth and said. "So...you're saying we're in the...past? Under some Sombra's rule? I'm sorry, but I'm just a black smith, so forgive me if this sounds naive, but who is Sombra?"

Oh yeah they're called hats, I think I had an uncle who wore a sombra two my cuteceañera once" Amber said groggily as she hobbled over to Forge. "Hey do you know what the hay happened here?" she asked as she rubbed her head in a vain attempt to clear out the cobwebs that had built up.

Forge nodded. "Yeah...could be right, but then why is everyone afraid of this particular Sombra?" he replies thinking out loud. Then turns to Amber to answer her question. "Here's what I know. Somehow we were transported back in time and now everyone is afraid of a sombra for some reason."

"Aw shoot I dunno, maybe it's like an evil, super sombra that's all black and red and steals the soul of anyone who puts it on. I met a guy in Saddle Arabia who tried to sell me a necklace or something dumb like that, I decided not to have my soul stolen so I didn't buy it though... Hey Forge have you ever been to Saddle Arabia? It's all hot and sandy and stuff, but the people are really nice. Well except for this one colt I met, he tried to get me to join his harem but I told him to buck off" Amber said. It was strange but she had learned that rambling always seemed to help with a hangover.

The crystal stallion looked at them like they were bonkers, which one of them was. "Sombra is our ruler. He's evil and just wants crystals, not to make us happy." He explained. He went back over to Diamond. "Is she paralyzed? She's not moving." He told the group.

"Well that sure explains a hell of a lot, why didn't you say that sooner?" Amber questioned before her attention was switched to Diamond. "Oh dang I really hope she isn't paralyzed, I haven't even got her in bed yet.. Oh buck was that out loud?" she shook her head before turning towards the sad looking crystal pony. "Hey you got any water and maybe some lemons? ginger works too."

Hey Forge have you ever been to Saddle Arabia?

 Forge nods. "I had to make swoard for somepony there once. Though I suppose they prefer to be called horses?"

 

 

 

"Sombra is our ruler. He's evil and just wants crystals, not to make us happy."

 

Forge nods. "Oh, ok. That would make a bit more sense." 

 

 

 

"Is she paralyzed? She's not moving."

 

Forge walks over to Diamond Dust and sits down in front of her. "Diamond, hey, you ok? Diamond Dust! Hey, what's wrong?" he asks, in as soothing of a tone as he can.

When she felt a small nudge, Silver Brush slowly came to, faintly making out voices somewhere…  Next to her?  A few feet away?  Until she actually woke up, she couldn't tell.  But when her vision came back to her, it was a most horrible sight.  ​N-no.  Is this… what I think this is?  "By any chance, did some pony mention 'Sombra'?" she asked, sitting up and levitating her saddlebags and cloak over to her.  She looked pretty calm on the outside, but on the inside, she mine as well be a scared little filly.

Diamond didn't even register the Crystal Pony talking to her, and didn't say a word, instead continuing to stare off into space as she processed everything. She truly didn't know what to think or do.

 

Soon, something grey stepped into her vision, catching her attention. As her eyes focused on the object, she realized it was Forge, and completely snapped out of her daze.

She blinked once and lookied around to see other ponies around the town center. The only ponies she recognized were Amber and the little Crystal filly - Diamond didn't know her name, having only seen her around the Empire in the present day.

The Crystal Pegasus turned to face Forge again, and opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came.

Aqua Marry slowly opened her eyes. She hadn't had really any idea on what had happened. She had remembered that big flash of light before she had blacked out but that was it. Then the word light made her realize that she was outside and wasn't wearing sunglasses. While this wasn't particularly bad for her, Aqua did know that she would at the least annoy other ponies if she wasn't wearing them. She looked up at the sky to judge how bright the sun was and noticed that it was particularly cloudy. She also looked around the kingdom and felt that it was different somehow.

The crystal pony went over Aqua. "H-how are you still crystal-like?! And your eyes?" He asked her. He was really confused as to why the crystal ponies over here are still crystal-like. He wanted answers to so many things but he couldn't. He looked back towards the kingdom with more gloom.

Forge walked up to the dull crystal pony and asked "What's so big about their coat...unless, are you a crystal pony as well? Did Sombra do this?" Multiple questions started going through Forge's head, but one took priority in the forefront of his mind. "Is this place safe? Or do you know of a place that is safe where we can all get our bearings?" As he asks this, he walks over to Aqua and offers his hoof to help her up.

"Indeed. I am a crystal pony sadly." He responded. "I'm sorry. I can't help you, Sombra has us all under control." He said, shivering a bit at Sombra's name. "We should go back to the empire as quickly as we can." He said, gloomily looking at the empire, trying to remember the happier days.

Silver Brush watched as the questioning took place, a bit speechless to be in a place as melancholic as this dark, foreboding place.  ​That flash… I wonder, did we jump back in time somehow?  If that's the case, then…  Looking around, she extended her hoof for a hoofshake toward the dull-looking Crystal Pony (which just drove the point home where they are, at least in her mind) and said softly with a smile,"It's a pleasure to meet you.  Can you at least tell us where in the empire we should be?"  Considering the deliberate downplay of her usual courtesy, she at least decided to not outright state the malevolent unicorn's name.

He shook his head. "I'm sorry. I don't know. Maybe ask a guard? A punishment will be given but you'll know where to go." He told them. "The empire is that way. I know it looks a lot darker than normal but, we have had this dark fate (Hmm...) for a long time now." The crystal pony said, pointing to the gloomy and dark empire.

Aqua just looked confused at the pony because she didn't know what was going on. Though true to her personality, she was always one to keep a smile on her face no matter what the situation.

 

"Well my eyes is a problem the doctors call Optical Refraction Disorder. And I don't think it's very nice of you to comment on how bright my coat is."

He turned to Aqua. "You live in the crystal empire, right?" He asked her. He was still awestruck at how she was crystal like. After she responded, he said, "This is the crystal empire." Pointing to the gloomy and dark empire. He was not proud on how it was looking. Nor the residents.

Forge had heard enough. "If this is truly the Crystal Empire, then we should have some idea of where we are. And if what you're saying is still true, that there will be guards here soon, then we should move. I think I might recognize where we are, maybe. If I'm right, the spot where my black smith shop will be should be right around the corner. We can hide there." He walks over to Amber first and, reaching in to one of his vest pockets, produces a bottle of water. He hands it to her saying "Better sober up quick because it looks like we're going to need to move." Next he goes to Diamond Dust, kneeling in front of her and says softly "are you going to be alright? We need to get moving...are you going to be able to move?"

Gaaah! None of this makes any sense. Okay we are back in time but why? Why would the Heart send us here... The Heart can't control time can it? I thought it full of love and stuff. More importantly how are we going to get back. Time Spells... I don't any dammit! The only Times spells now would be the ones made by Starswirl and those would be in Canterlot, and I doubt they can send a large group of ponies 1000 years into the future! Think think... Eternity spaced out for a moment lost in thought. He then began to overhear the others. "I'm surprised you two have never heard of the evil King Sombra. He enslaved the Crystal ponies, took away their magic, and forced them to mine crystals. He was even responsible for sending the-" He remembered he was in the presence of a pony that wasn't from the future. He should talk about his future in front of him. He looked to forge "Forge was it? This Empire is the one we know but its drastically different. Even if you know your way around we don't know if there are any of Sombra's guards nearby. If Sombra finds us here he will enslave us. And I fancy you don't want to mine crystal for the rest of your life." He then looked to the dull crystal pony. "You, we don't belong here. You cannot tell any pony we are here. More importantly we need to find a way home..."

Shooting looked at the dull pony. "When is the best time to sneak in or out?" She asked.

 

"When everyone is going to mine. Crack of dawn." He responded gloomily.
