Vacationing down on the Crystal Coast of NC and did some painting today.

 

I'm not overly pleased with how it turned out, but it's not terrible, so I'll take it.

It looks very good however, why is it called carrot island?

 

Heh heh, that's the name of the island on the left. Why that island got the name is a rather more humorous story, though.

 

When Beaufort was still a young town some three hundred years ago, a bunch of carts ended up over on the island (the specifics of how and why escape me). When newcomers came down from the north and asked about the island, the residents told them there were a bunch of carts on it, but because of the locals' southern accents, the northerners though they were saying "carrots". So they called it Carrot Island and the name stuck.
