Iwo Jima Discription

Iwo Jima is a small volcanic island located 750 miles south of mainland Tokyo. The island is covered in black volcanic sand. The highest point on Iwo Jima is Mt. Suribachi which reaches 528 ft in the air. The size of Iwo Jima is 8 square miles. During World War II Iwo Jima was a strategic point and in 1945 the americans landed on it and the first wave of marines that landed there were faced with no artillery or gun fire but when they advanced forward the Japanese guns opened fire. Watching the first battle scene of Flags Of Our Fathers will help u understand. The battle of Iwo Jima lasted 35 bloody days on the 5th day 5 marines named Ira Hayes, Mike Strank, Rene Gagnon, Franklin Sousley, Harlon Block, and a US Navy corpsman John (Doc) Bradley raised the american flag on the top of Mt. Suribachi. Out of the 6 men that raised the flag only 3 survived Rene Gagnon, Ira Hayes, & John Bradly. After Iwo Jima was taken it was turned into a US airfield. In 1968 Iwo Jima was given back to the Japanese.

Sorry for not posting lately everyone. It's been getting extremely hot where I live, to the point where I am unable to concentrate on roleplaying due to the intense heat. Once it settles down I will rejoin immediately.
