I believe that is the DM's job what good is it knowing what's gonning to happen the fun is suppose to be us planning to solve a problem we didn't foresee while the DM sees us react.

I will always enjoy personal quests, but for the main overall "meta" story arc, Most of it will come from me reacting to you reacting to positions I put you in.
