I entered the police department and showed my badge to the clerk who let me pass without going through the metal detector, I walked to the chief and said, "Well i'm here sir where is the forensics office?"  he looked at me and pointed at room and said, "Your office is over there, it has everything you'll need for doing your job. I'll get someone to fill you in on the details of the current case later." With that he quickly went back to checking some files I assumed were based on the current case.

Victor grinned. "Well I'd look bad if I was the only person who said no. Count me in. Protecting everybody and all that.

 

Highlander clapped his hands together in a display of almost worrying enthusiasm. "Good man! Well then, I officially welcome you all to the Heroes' Union. I imagine you're all pretty tired by now, so please, rest. You may spend the night here if you wish. Otherwise, Koenig will take you home. He's already escorting one person anyway, and it's his turn to take night patrol. Come back in the morning and we'll see about training you to be Heroes."

The side effects lasted for about an hour, and most of was charred by the end of that time. Gale slowly stood, the bindings having burned off ten minutes ago, and exited the room. She still felt a bit lightheaded, but at least she could still walk. The only good thing about this was that she did feel stronger. "I wonder if I gained any new abilities." She thought. After checking out of the institute and saying her goodbye to the receptionist, the teen decided to simply walk back to the apartment, not wanting to risk flying just yet.

Nico turned to Tora at the offer of staying for the night. "What do you think? Stay for the night or go back to the warehouse?" Nico asked her. The warehouse they were staying at didn't have much in ways of furniture but they planned to get some furniture in. He smiled at her weary look and understood why she was like that.

Rikku grabbed Victor by the hand "No thank you, I'm going to walk home with Victor."

 

Tora smiled back at him and relaxed "Yeah, we can stay tonight. Get some furniture in our place tommorow."

 

This was nice, joining a group. She was always used to running solo. Not of her own choice but of necessity. And she just couldn't stick in one place for long.

Highlander nodded. "As you wish. Now, I shall get some blankets!" With that, he disappeared into a side room somewhere.

 

Victor held Rikku's hand and smiled warmly at her. "Alright. That sounds like a good idea. It's not far from here anyway. Shall we get going?"

So we go back to the house, and then come back in the morning. Besides, Rose will have dinner ready, and I'm starving."

"That sounds like a good idea." Nico agreed and watched Highlander disappear into another room. He looked around the place and was unsure if he should walk around the room or not and have a look at what ever was going there. "You still suspicious about this group?" Nico asked Tora quietly.

Rikku nodded and left with Victor, letting him lead her back home.

 

"Im always suspicious. But they dont seem too bad do they? That Highlander dude is just a bit...loco. But you join, I join." Tora shrugged and hooked her thumbs into the belt loops of her shorts.

Victor was quiet for a while as he led Rikku home, still holding her by the hand. Eventually, he decided to ask something that had been bothering him. "So... if you wanted to walk back home with me, does that mean you're not upset with me anymore? Because I figured you'd still be mad at me for... well, for everything, really." He paused before adding, "And I am sorry, you know."

"I was never really mad at you. I really do understand what happened..." she gave him a warm smile.

 

"Why did you join this...this..." she struggled to find the word and pronounce it. Rikku knotted her brows "Uni...on. Union. Sorry."

 

The night was very nice and cool, so Rikku walked closely with Victor.

"A bit is right." Nico agreed, still talking quietly. He doesn't know why Highlander was overly enthusiastic. Maybe it's because he liked it too much or maybe it's because of something else. Whatever it was, it was infectious. He took out his phone and morphed it back into the Rubik's Cube he liked. After doing that, he begam to pla around with the puzzle as he looked around the room nervously. "I'm glad you agreed to join as well. It seems better joining with a friend." Nico told her.

Victor smiled, appreciating her closeness and warmth. "I'm glad you understand. I wouldn't want to lose the first person I got know out here over something stupid like that." He wasn't sure whether to life or feel bad when she struggled to pronounce the word. Honestly, it was kind of cute. "Union. I'm sure it'll get easier to speak with practice. I know this language is weird. At any rate, I don't really know what possessed me to join. I guess... I've spent my life as a test subject and not much else. Now that I'm not in a lab all the time, I don't really know what to do with myself. I guess I thought a noble cause like this was the best course to find a place for myself. What about you? Why did you join?"

Highlander returned with an armload of blankets. "Now, is there anything else you'll be needing? Would you like something to eat, perhaps, or are you going right to sleep?"

"Yeah, its cool to have a bud. Everyone here seems to travel in couples." She answered Nico. Tora gladly took the blanket from Highlander "Oh gosh, I'm so hungry...hey, speaking of which, do you have a tiger guy here?"

 

"If I can become rich like them, while helping for a good cause, I can use my money to better the island. Better living conditions and food, safety and security for the poor. I lost everything in Brazil, but I can start again here." Rikku watched her feet as she walked.

At the mention of food, Nico realised he hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. "Some food would be nice." Nico agreed, taking one of the blankets from Highlander. "Thanks for letting us stay the night." Nico told him, grateful that they could actually sleep somewhere instead of the floor in the warehouse.

Gale sighed as she walked and noticed that it was getting dark. "Great. That's just great." She thought. The teen then noticed a alleyway and decided to take the new path, hoping that it would gice her a shortcut to the apartment where she and Shadow were staying. "Why do I get the feeling that this is going to end badly." She thought to herself.

Tora took out her and began searching away for cool furniture. At the same time she checked if any job ads were up. Hopefully, they had a club on this island. If they did, she'd find it. And she'd convince them to hire her one way or another.

 

She took her time while strolling around, eyes glued to the screen. Her phones native language was still in Chinese, she liked it that way.

"Yeah, I guess we should head back then. Rose is pretty panicky." Zen said putting his hands behind his head. 'I guess i'll see what's gonna happen tomorrow.' he thought. "So, you wanna fly back or take the long way home?" He asked Louise, not really caring which one she picked.

We'd get there a lot quicker and it's a lot more fun than just walking thru the streets. Plus if you see this place from the air, it'll be easier for us to find it tomorrow morning."

"Sounds good to me." Zen said as he walked out the door, holding it open for Louise. He then picked her up the same way as before and ascended, his body giving off a glow that was now more visible. He then looked back down at the Hero HQ. "Hm, the place does really look kind of unassuming doesn't it." He said, mainly to himself, before flying in the direction of their place.

@, Rose had been anxiously awaiting the return of her new housemates. She was relieved when she saw Louise and Zen, and said quickly, "Dinner's ready! It's on the table." She held the door open for Louise and Zen to enter the house. Despite the deal they'd made, she was still a little worried about being alone in the house and was determined to make her protectors comfortable so that they wouldn't want to leave. Louise was fine with this, especially as it meant that they didn't have to pay for anything.

Zen walked through the door and was hit with the smell of...well he had no idea, but it smelled good. "Wow, what did you make Rose? It smells really good in here." He said to her. There was something bothering him though, mainly the fact that he regained his hunger in the past few days. 'I wonder what it means.' He thought, but seeing as how neither him or anyone else was in direct danger, he didn't think about it past that point.

As Gale was walking through the alley, heavy footsteps rang out behind her. Something about them was off, though. In fact, they almost had a... metallic sound? Soon the footsteps grew closer, and before she could react, she was on the ground, the heavy weight of a meta with a layer of steel over their flesh crushing down on her.

 

((Feel free to go crazy on this guy. Not like I have any plans for him later anyway.))

Gale moaned in pain as she hit the ground and felt a somewhat metalic weight on top of her. "Get off of me." She yelled in anger. As soon as she said that, the weight was lifted and she heard a loud crash. When the teen stood and looked in the direction the meta flew, she could see a hole in the brick wall and decided it would be a good idea to fly to her apartment.

 

(Yes Gale is basically Magneto, but she still has to learn to control the new power and it can only be activated when she feels a strong emotion, in this case anger.)
