Nico backed away when he saw a strawberry-blond haired man come in and instruct Tora. Nico took the headphones off of the unconscious girl's head and placed them around his neck, remembering to switch them off so that the same thing doesn't happen to him. His eyes widened when he saw Tora turn back into a girl and was struggling to breathe. He walked closer and talked to the man taht helped. "We should get her to a hospital! It looks like she has a crushed windpipe!" Nico said, panicking slightly.

He nodded. "Call an ambulance for me, would you? I'd like to make sure she's handling the change alright." He sat down next to her and gently put a hand on her shoulders. "You've been to the institute, haven't you? Shapeshifters have a hard time adjusting to enhanced abilities. I should know, being one myself. Always remember that regardless of form, your mind is still human, and you're the one in control. Don't let the nature of the beast drive you. Anchor a part of yourself in humanity, and reign in the rest of you when things start to go out of control. In the end, you're a human that can take other forms, but still a human inside. That's the strength of your power, really. And as for the hunger, you could have just asked our friend here for some raw meat. I buy it here all the time."

Nico nodded and held his headphones, morphing their shape into a simple flip phone. He sensed the number from accidentally eavesdropping into a conversation over the phone to them. He keyed it into his own phone and put the phone to his ear. Nico held his head as he waited for the call to go through. Once it did, he immediately started talking. "I would like an ambulance to come quickly please." Nico said hurriedly and walked outside to see the address of the place. After having memorised it, he walked back in. He told them the address and when asked who he was with he turned to the man. "I'm with ... what's your name? Apparently they need it." Nico asked having calmed down slightly.

The man looked up with an expression that indicated he'd all but forgotten Nico was there until he spoke. "Luke Giles. Tell them I said Jackson owes me a favor. That ought to get them here in no time at all." He turned back to Tora and once again seemed to block out pretty much everything else.

"Okay .. Hello? You still there? I'm with Luke Giles and he said that Jackson owes him a favour." Nico repeated what Luke said and shut the phone once the call was done. "They said that an ambulance was already on the way." Nico told him and sat down against the wall, rubbing his temple. 'Luke Giles ... when he told Tora all that stuff, he appeared to know what he was talking about.' Nico thought to himself and getting an idea, switched his phone from a flip-phone to a smartphone so that he could see if there was any information about this guy in Haven Point. As he was searching, he kept glancing over at Tora, feeling extremely worried for his friend.

@, Louise thought it over then said, "That would be super awesome. But only if you're sure that you can lift me."

 

Louise was starting to feel hungry, so she added, "We could go and get some lunch in town, as well. If you don't like fast food, I'm sure there's someplace else we could go to."

*Kain walked out of the institution. It had been a rather amusing experience. The doctor who had been assigned to him couldn't stand the sight of blood,so when Kain showed off his powers, the doctor became very unsettled, very quickly. The doctor had needed to pause a few times to step out and regain their composure. Every time the doctor walked back in, Kain gave him a glare of annoyance, and every time the doctor stepped out, he just chuckled to himself in amusement. When the doctor had to give him the injection, Kain just rolled up his sleve and let the doctor do it. Kain just let the doctor do the injection without flinching, almost as if he didn't feel anything at all. It really was far from the worst pain he had felt. Anyway, Kain was now walking down the street, tossing and catching his chunk of iron. One toss, he missed the catch, and rameached out to grab it, but missed, however, the chunk of iron floated in the air, about a foot above the ground. Kain looked at it with wide eyes and then closed and lowered his hand. The chunk of iron fell and hit the ground. Kain bent down and picked up the metal. He looked at it and gave a slight smile. He stood back up and felt something dripping down his face. He put his hand to his face and wiped some blood away from his bleeding nose.*

"Side effects, eh? Well I guess that's what happens."

*He pocketed the metal and continued on his walk.*

*Alec was walking down the street, soaked with water. It was a nice day, and he wasn't swimming, but he couldn't get this stormcloud that was pouring water on him to go away. This hadnt happened in the longest time, then he went to visit the institute and they injected him with this strange stuff, and now the damn cloud wouldn't go away, no matter how much he tried.*

Detru staggered to her feet, clutching her skull. That awful ringing! She felt bile rising in her throat from how badly she was disoriented. A shake of her head cleared up the nausea, but didn't fix the splitting pain in her skull.

"Y-you...what did you do to me?..." Detru panted, still seeing double from the assault on her ears. She powered more blood to her skull, a secondary effect of destroying oxygen. She could feel herself reinvigorating as blood flushed her face.

Luke looked over at the larger girl as if he had only just noticed she was there. He sighed. "There's an ambulance coming soon. I don't know what exactly happened before I got here, but it might not be a bad idea for you to get some help from them. Frankly, you don't look too good." No sooner did he say that then an ambulance arrived on the scene and a paramedic got out and approached Nico, asking what was going on.

 

Victor had arrived back at the hotel, and now found himself doing little besides waiting for Rikku to return. Now that he wasn't spending ninety percent of his time in a lab somewhere, he didn't really know what to do with himself. Maybe if he could find a good casino... but that would have to wait for later. He'd had enough of wandering the city for the time being.

Rikku arrived at the penthouse after leaving when the paramedics arrived. She was a bit shaken from the elevator "Maybe we should have some wine out on the terrace? It's still so warm, no?"

 

Tora groaned, clutching on to someone or something. Detru was so strong, her whole body ached and trembled with pain. Tora coughed feebly; trying to draw in as much breath as possible.

Detru snorted as she saw the tiger holding onto the guy who had randomly showed up. A puff of mist shot from her mouth as she did so.

 

"I don't need that. The cat is mine, let me take her" Detru snarled, fully prepared to take her prey back home and torture it as payback for the damage it had done

Victor nodded. "Sure. I'm always happy to join a pretty lady for a drink." He went to the refrigerator and grabbed the bottle, "Um... is one bottle going to be enough? I really have no idea. They don't let you drink when they're studying your brain, you know?" He grabbed uncorked the bottle and grabbed a couple of glasses with his free hand, gesturing for her to follow him out onto the terrace. "So I just bought the fanciest and most expensive bottle there. I hope it's good."

As the paramedics saw the injured tiger-girl, they rushed over and began to treat her. Luke just shook his head at the larger girl. "I can't let you do that. In fact, I believe, if anything, she's mine now, not yours. So kindly run along before the authorities start to wonder who put her in this condition."

 

Outside, the police had shown up and were making inquiries about a hacker that was allegedly in the area.

Nico looked up from his searching to see paramedics fusing over Tora. He sighed and put his phone away, standing up. "What was what? The sudden assault of sound on your ears? That was me, trying to get you to get off of her." Nico said rather angrily. He won't hesitate to do it again.

"That's fine with me. I'm not too picky. Let's go. " Zen said. He then picked Louise up suddenly bridal style and quickly rose into the air. 'It's been a while since I've done this.' He thought to himself, 'let's see if I can still go as fast.' He began going higher and higher before he realized that Louise might need to breathe and stopped. It was quite the view with the ocean going on for miles around them.

"Screw the police, she attacked me, I'll kill her! Very simple" Detru responded, her overly blunt thinking making her not realize that her sprees of violence would stop in jail. A thought suddenly occured to her(rare). If she stayed and got rid of the tiger, then she'd have to shave time off of her training session. She would not let herself get weak. With a growl, she stomped off

Luke just watched the large girl stomp off and made a mental note to watch out for her in the future. That one was bound to be trouble. Suddenly the police came storming in, and were making a fuss about some sort of hacking attempt, pointing guns at Nico and telling him to surrender and come quietly. Luke walked over to them with a friendly smile on his face. "Officers, I assure you this man has done nothing wrong. In fact, he may have just saved a young girls life. Surely there must be a mistake. After all, he's been right here this whole time. We would have noticed if he were hacking something." While he retained a friendly expression, there was something almost challenging in his tone, as if he was daring them to question him. After the lead officer stared at him in thought for a while, the police left, warning that they would be watching closely for any sort of funny business. As soon as they were gone, Luke put a hand on Nico's shoulder and looked him in the eye. "Care to tell me why you were hacking the Institute?"

Nico was going to do what the police said but stopped when Luke apparently saved him from being interrogated. Until Luke started his own interrogation on him. "I'm telling you right now. I. Am. Not. Hacking. I don't mean to and I think it's a bad thing to do anyway. It's just a side effect of the injection they gave me." Nico said hurriedly. He tried to wave the hacking off as a joke but he knew that wasn't true. "Besides, how was I meant to know I was hacking the Institute when I was busy chasing after Tora?" Nico asked, pointing to the girl.

He sighed. "Fine. I believe you. But try to reign it in. Not everyone has pull with the authorities like I do, and you probably won't be so lucky next time. Find someone who can help you control your abilities if you can't do it yourself. Just don't let it get you into trouble you don't want."

Rikku followed Victor out to the terrace and took a glass once it was filled.

 

"Have you noticed a surge in your powers? Or strange urges?" She asked, looking over at the city lights. She pondered what she should cook; tucking a wisp of hair behind her ear. The cool evening air soothed the heat she kept expierencing; whatever it might be.

"U-urges?" Well he had, but not the kind it was exactly polite to talk about. He blushed and tried not to think about it, or about how beautiful she looked in the fading sunlight. "I don't know, I mean... maybe? What do you mean?" He quickly took a sip of wine and hoped it would help to clear his head.

Nico sighed and rubbed his head, wincing slightly from the pressure it was under. "Okay, I'll try to reign it in. But for now, I want to make sure that Tora is safe first. I'll deal with all this after, okay Tigereye?" Nico said to Luke quietly and walked away to the paramedics, seeing if Tora is going to be fine. "How is she?" He asked one of the paramedics.

"Mmm you picked a great wine." She held the glass up to look at the contents before finishing them.

 

"I mean...the urge to do something. I feel so restless that I dont know what to do with myself! I tried growing but it wasn't enough." She shrugged.

 

"I wonder how they affect your powers" Rikku glanced at him while pouring another cup and noticed he was staring at her, which made her blush deeply.

@, Louise watched the living tapestry beneath them, temporarily awed by it. She put her hand over her nose as the air rushing past made breathing difficult, but did not mind. When Zen stopped, she looked up and smiled. "It's beautiful," she said. "I never flew before."

The hand on Nico's shoulder suddenly tightened. "You'd best stop using names like that, friend, or else I'll start thinking you were hacking for real. I'm Luke Giles, and if you want to call me by anything else you'll have to earn it." He turned and prepared to walk out. "Your friend will be fine. Tell her to seek me out at Ransen Appartments if and when she's ready to learn." With that, he left. The paramedics, having performed a brief treament of her throat and injected her with a small dose of what they called an accelerated healing agent, declared that she would be fine in a little while, save for being sore.

 

Victor's blush grew deeper. He'd only had one glass of wine, but it was starting to have an effect on him already. Years of very little drinking would do that. "I... well, the doctor did say something about restlessness, and heightened emotions. My powers don't seem to be that much different. More consistent maybe, but it's hard to tell. And... I guess I've been kind of getting urges too..." He trailed off as his blush only continued to intensify.

Detru took out her frustration on the trees she had been using as target practice. It mattered very little to her the cuts and scrapes on her fists after each pummel, what mattered was venting her rage. She wasn't strong enough to outright destroy a tree with her hands, but even so, she left quite an impression. As she finally stopped, she looked at her hands, trembling as she looked at her own blood.
