CosmicHooves 2,705 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 (edited) Upon observation, I don't find anything in the MLP FiM show stating that everyone needs to "love and tolerate" each other. Now don't get me wrong. I personally think this is an excellent motto to follow by. I'm just wondering is it a product of the fandom or the show itself? (rainbow dash is so cute!) Frostgage 7,975 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 Honestly, I think it was just created to troll haters. I'm not sure though. It's still a good motto either way, I suppose. 2 Signature by Lacerna | You should fill out my Johari Window. All the cool kids are doing it. Malinter 3,064 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 (edited) It is a good motto, however folks tend to try and troll bronies by using the term literally in that we should accept everyone and everything when that's clearly not possible in some situations.. And in a way yes, it is. both the fandom and that motto originated from 4chan. boiteporte 591 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 Stated seriously, it would be a good motto to follow. But not this way.

Miles 2,512 August 8, 2014 Share August 8, 2014 I believe the motto is derivative of the show, though indirectly. I don't think it's been said explicitly before in the show, but it's just the theme of the show in general, or at least the common theme of the combined lessons learned. So yah, probably made by the fans... but it follows the logic of the show quite well, or I'd like to think so anyway. ~ Rise And Rise Again, Until Lambs Become Lions ~
ShadowPirateX 600 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 I believe it started as a countermeasure against haters and troll. It has never been said directly in the show, but it is the overall theme. It was probably created in the deepest forges of the burning hell which is 4chan, at the start of our holy creation! It was a weapon used by our ancestors to fight back the forces of hate. Man, it sounds so epic Not really too big of a stretch, as one does not simply walk into 4chan! 1 "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" ~ Optimus Prime
Handmade 46 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 The terminology 'Love & Tolerate' started on 4chan's /co/ (Western Cartoons & Comics) board when the show was beginning to gain popularity. Most of 4chan's community made jokes of the show. Among the jokes, was the love and tolerate motto. After the /mlp/ community was kicked out of /co/ and raided /b/ (Random) board, the reference became much more well known, and thereafter spread among the community and is now a popular motto related to the show and its followers. Sadly, even as it was created jokingly, it remains a joke, as many bronies do not follow it.
caramba2654 602 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 I thought we stopped using it. :v I won't be a complete brony until I get a Thunderlane plushie and go to a convention.

Snow Frostflame 3,568 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 (edited) this motto was used by the first G4 Bronies back in 2010 its to keep you from giving in to insults without this motto not much would of changed about me I still wouldn't care if an Anti-Brony is trying to insult me I would just give him a hug and walk off Edited August 9, 2014 by Spy
Rainbow S.D. 546 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 I think it was started on 4chan (/co/ or /b/ I think). Quote from KnowYourMeme. "Love and tolerate was created to deal with trolling and hatred in pony related threads, while staying true to the show’s message of friendship and kindness. Love and tolerate is commonly used in place of violent terms in an attempt to stay non-confrontational. It is often used in image macros to express contempt in a joking, light-hearted manner." http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/bronyspeak My Youtube Channel I upload clips, animations, and other stuff. Handmade 46 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 ...the burning hell which is 4chan... Not really too big of a stretch, as one does not simply walk into 4chan! Contrary to most, 4chan is not that bad. I went there back in '09 and most of it was pretty fun. I wander back every once in a while, and it still remains a pretty good site. Most people visit the infamous /b/ (Random) board, which, is NSFW, and thus, contains various topics which most people find disturbing. However, there are great people on other boards, such as /fa/ (Fashion), /co/ (Cartoons & Comics), /x/ (Paranormal), /wsg/ (Worksafe .gif), and /a/ (Anime) board. /b/ has even committed some good deeds, they stopped a mass shooting at a mall back in '11, I think.

Commissar Alexer 763 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 I'm pretty sure it was just a joke to annoy peolpe since this fandom's origin is 4chan. 1 "There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt." NiceVillains 244 August 9, 2014 Share August 9, 2014 If others are being rude, lines need to be drawn. So, I generally think respect is a better general idea. If someone is disrespectful to me I ignore it or, sadly, try to get even. Now, about weirdos, it is easy to respect them as long as they comprehend personal boundaries. What evidence could be for a god? Because, if god can do anything, surely a lesser being relative to god, could still trick humans without fail if they wanted to. Which means, a being that appears to be god, may not be god. So even if god showed up in person doing anything and everything, for all you know it could be a demon casting illusions or your brain plugged into the matrix. Just because it claims to be a god, does not mean it is. Thus, there is never evidence enough for a god. Which means you cannot have an accurate reason for believing in god.
