How would our world deal with the Equestrian villains?

No, I meant him leaping into Twilight's arms and going

"What in the world?!"

If you are going to bring up lack of realism, then Celestia's sun feat means nothing because it's not meant to be this big thing. It's a staple in fiction. For example, Helios is weaker than Zeus, yet Helios moves the Sun and Zeus moves thunder clouds.

Sun moving in fiction, unless specifically treated as such, is usually just a trope

-Surprise, not fear. Still featless in any regard.

-Except she moves it using magic from her own body.

Then stuff like Ra who isn't even continent level is also solar system level. The problem is that you seem to feel the need to overrate them. I bet that if I asked one of the writers if Celestia could destroy the Sun, the answer would be no

I'm pretty sure the only villains we would have to worry about would be Discord and maybe Nightmare Moon.

I mean, if Nightmare Moon could launch the moon at the earth, we would be done for. :P

It's based on the ideas presented in Egyptian mythology. Ra, being the embodiment of the sun, should be star level, although i'll admit that's speculation on my part. Anyways, to the heart of it:

o·ver·rate
ˌōvərˈrāt/
verb
gerund or present participle: overrating
  1. have a higher opinion of (someone or something) than is deserved.
"dismissing the work as pompous and overrated"
synonyms: overestimateovervalue, think too much of, attach too much importance to,praise too highly
"I think his music is overrated"

Superman.

Thor.

Bills.

Sailor Moon.

Silver Surfer.

Professor X.

Doctor Strange.

Doctor Who.

These are some of the people that could destroy the princesses, and the MLPverse, off the top of my head.Anybody above them could win as well, obviously, these are just the closest to the baseline limit without going under it. Also of note: MLPverse has no resistance to soul or mind related abilities.

Bottom line: I'm competitive, not illogical; I know where my characters stand in a match, I know their strengths and weaknesses, and I know who they can and can't win against. I'm not overrating anything, and I'm not fanboying, i'm just not going to throw logic and state that characters can't win against someone they clearly have the capacity to beat. That would be underrating, a lie, and a disservice to myself.

@,

I still think you overrate them. MLP characters are similar to Naruto in that their hax allows for interesting abilities, but otherwise, they're just okay

The real question is how would Equestrian villains deal with our world?

- Nightmare moon ain't scaring nobody modern humans tend to appreciate the night life.

- Sombra won't find another crystal kingdom, he's better off crawling into some geode and dying.

- We'll cook the vines with flamethrowers.

- We have no magic for Tirek to steal, might as well launch a couple of nukes at him and watch him die.

.

.

.

- Discord's a problem though.

I would challenge them to a POKEMON BATTLE! (On Pokémon X and Y) They would lose. No thumbs haha. Except Discord. He'd probably cheat. But if we were talking about his reformed side, he'd probably still cheat.

- Discord's a problem though.

Between all the night owls and moon related occupations, Nightmare Moon would love this place. People finally enjoy her night, she'd have no reason to attack us.

Discord would gain a cult following(like an actual cult;the cult of Discord). His existence would create so much chaos in and of itself, he would love it here. The science community would be shocked. the PETA would defend him and crush anybody who laid a hand on him. He'd also be labeled as an endangered species, making more people angry... The chaos would last for years.

Tirek is no threat to us without magic to absorb. He'd quickly be subdued and would spend the rest of his days in a government laboratory.

Chrysalis' existence would generate such a cult following, her and her changelings would have more love than they could deal with. Barring that, she could become a famous singer and work from that angle. I don't know if chagelings breed... that would be the only problem.

I like all these comments stating that a nuke, heck even a machine gun, could easily kill, if not hurt, the villains. Tell me, what sources do you have that they are vulnerable to our weaponry?

On topic;

- Nightmare Moon wouldn't be too big of a threat, considering how a lot of us appreciate the night.

- Discord may single-handedly be our biggest threat. He can defy our laws of physics (unless our world has Equestria Girls logic), bend the world to his will and cause even more chaos and anarchy than there already is.

- Queen Chrysalis and her Changelings could disguise themselves among us and cause chaos (and perhaps strenghten Discord in the process). Not to mention that her fanbase could increase her powers.

- King Sombra would be pretty deadly too. He enslaved a kingdom for numerous years. Who knows what he could do to us? And who knows if we could beat him without the Crystal Heart...

- The Plunder Seeds may be the smallest threat. A flamethrower and napalm bombs should make short work of them, but there's the problem of actually having them after the other villains' rampage.

- Tirek before he absorbed all that power may or may not be of little danger. Tirek after he absorbed all that power, on the other hand... (And who's to say he can't backstab the other villains and steal their powers?)

  • 5 years later...

A question that might deserve a second look, now that we have more villains to think about (and the real world has changed a bit too).

As for my thoughts:

  • Nightmare Moon would be quite the problem, especially if she was smart enough not to stay in one known place that could be nuked - i doubt much else could take her out save perhaps by total surprise. And that's before we get into whether/how much she can pry into dreams, and control the moon/night. If she dominates the latter fully, then she probably brings eternal night  - if not, her motivation is unclear, and she may become a dangerous wild card.
  • Discord wins, hands down - I don't think there's any way to cause him real harm or block his effects without magic. The best strategy is actually the one that worked in Equestria, befriending him -  but it'll be a lot harder without the threat of the Elements to make him pay attention, and even then he probably isn't going to play nice with the world order.
  • Chrysalis will hurt the world a lot more than she'll actually succeed - her planning will get her scheme, whatever it is, blown, at which point paranoia and fear takes over the world and makes modern police states look like hippie communes. It's up in the air whether she survives personally, but at least some of her hive will.
  • Sombra has a lot less moblity than most, so it matters more where he comes out. It's not clear whether he could just be shot, but assuming not (better to overestimate your enemy than the other way) there are quite a few places he could build up a decent following of mind-controlled servants. Still, he'll probably end up nuked sooner or later.]
  • Tirek... depends a lot on his power level, and whether he has any way of increasing it. At his weakest, he's likely helpless - at his strongest, he could probably shoot down individual nukes, though a barrage would get him eventually.
  • Starlight can probably just be shot by soldiers - if she doesn't just shield and teleport, and more importantly, if she's a target in the first place. It's not even clear what her goals would be in a highly unequal world without cutiemarks - but I could certainly see her becoming the hidden ace of a 99% revolutionary movement somewhere.
  • The Pony of Shadows - well, I honestly don't know what he'd do - his motivation was always vague. He could probably be nuked (but nothing less) if he stayed still.
  • The Storm King would be no danger himself, of course - with his whole army, he might cause quite a stir, but drones could probably take down his airships. Tempest would probably be taken out by a sniper.
  • Cozy Glow, as always, is not a physical threat - it really depends on what humans she falls in with, how much they trust her, and how much power they have. Decent chance she just becomes a celebrity.
