Everypony knows better than to enter the Everfree Forest on Nightmare Night.  Everypony.  Except you, it seems.  Now, for whatever reason, you find yourself in the dark depths of this wild place.  After wandering, lost and alone for hours in the darkness, you see a light ahead.  Your dispirited walk turns to a trot, then a full-blown canter as you bolt towards the hope of shelter and civilization. You screech to a halt as you come to what looks like an old mansion, the gardens overgrown and the gate rusted.  It seems extremely forboding--Was that a scream you just heard?  Still, the autumn night grows chill, and the windows glow warmly.  Dare you knock upon the oaken door?  What awaits you in this place?

It's essentially a murder-mystery, with myself running the killer. I'll have several characters, too, to throw you off the scent.  I figured, since it's that time of year, one of these would be a good addition to the expansive RPs on this site.  (Plus, I wanted to join an RP, but couldn't find one that suited me.   )

 

NOTE:  You do not have to die.  That is voluntary, and you can even pick the mode of your death.  I'll write that out myself.  But all deaths must happen off-screen, and I get to write what the remaining characters find.

 

RULES:

 

1. All forum rules apply.  Be reasonable, friends,
2. No god-modding, controlling others' characters, etc.  That's just rude, and all such posts will be flat ignored.
3. No Alicorn OCs.  Sorry, but those can too easily become Mary-Sue
4. No royalty or major nobility of any sort.  I'll consider ranked individuals on a case-by-case basis.
5. All players must make at least an attempt to be semi-literate.  I'll forgive a misspelled word here and there, or a few grammatical mistakes if English isn't your first language, but the site does an automatic spell-check.  Please use it.
6. Absolutely NO text- or leet-speak.  This is a huge pet peeve of mine.  We've all graduated kindergarten, we know 'B' is a letter, not a word.  Similarly, '4' is a number, not an 'A.'
7. No killing each other.  I will handle that, thank you.
8. PM me if you volunteer to be a victim.  I want each death to be a surprise.
9. No OCs may have direct connection to a cannon character.
10. Rules may change in the future, as unanticipated things happen.  Check back for more.

@Miss Reaper:  Galatea's accepted, too.  However, I would like you to note that that super-long, elegantly-crafted backstory you wrote for her will be largely ignored in the RP.  I mean no offense, but I'd like to focus on the mystery at hoof rather than any particular character's past.  Reference it all you like, just don't expect it to become the focus of what's going on.

That's perfectly fine! I didn't create the backstory to be the only thing she's about, after all; it merely helps define what shaped her into the character she is now. ^-^

Oh no problem!  I just find that when some people write big, long backstories for their character, it's all they want to focus on.  I just wanted to warn you that we wouldn't be doing that here.

How many people, more or less, do you think we'll need to start off the RP? Provided that there will (probably) be some killing in there, I guess we'd need a relatively large group? If anything, we can throw more of our own OCs so that we have backups. I dunno.

A larger group is definitely necessary, and I figured people would be signing up with multiple ponies.  If we all use three characters, that gives us nine right now.  Would that be big enough, do you think?

Well, I could always toss Ariel in. Only reason I chose Galatea over her is because, well, Ariel is a very nervous pony by nature. She doesn't handle bad situations very well at all, and is sooner to have an anxiety attack then do anything useful in this kind of situation... Hehe, could still be interesting, but I'll let you have the final say on that, @Nom de Plume.

@Miss Reaper:  Weeeeell....  Ariel probably wouldn't be a good fit for this RP, to be quite honest.  I'm sorry, but I just don't want to have to deal with the chaos that will undoubtedly result from her interacting with, or even seeing, Galatea.  I can whip up two other OCs, though, if you can't or don't want to.

I would love to add another character, but I don't think I have any other OC that's fit for this RP other than Shooting Star... I could try Amber Vox, if I can find her character page... I'll see what I can do.

Found her: Amber Vox. She's a little outdated, but I guess she's still playable. We can ignore her entire backstory if you find it necessary.

I'm afraid I really don't have many other characters that would be a good fit... My only other character that's been introduced on the forums is Nano, and a robot pony certainly wouldn't fit into this RP.

 

There's also Frost Feather, a pegasus OC of mine, but she's not as thoroughly developed and she doesn't have a page on the forums here. And Gale, a changeling that... also wouldn't fit...

 

Yeah no, it looks like I'll have to stick with just Galatea.

@Driz: Amber's accepted.  I can't wait to see how she and Pumpkin interact-- Two bouncy fall-colored ponies will be fun.

 

@Miss Reaper: Frost Feather seems interesting.  Goodness knows I'll need to take a few days to finish Lace, Pumpkin, and Shade before they're really ready to play.  Go ahead and work on him if you want, see what you can get done.

I haven't had time to make another drawing for Frost, which was what I really wanted to do before I started a character page for her, but I suppose I could always use some older art as a placeholder pic. I'll start on her page soon so that maybe she could be added too.

@Miss Reaper:  No worries!  Time can be difficult to manage for everyone.  I've had to put my ask-blog on a two-week hiatus while I handle school stuff and other projects, myself.
