AMD Dual-Core Opteron 185

Nvidia gtx 285 (I think) 712mb vram

3gb RAM

Windows XP SP3 32-bit

It's mainly parts from 06' and 08', but it's still capable of running some new-ish games on low-mid settings at good frame rates.

For those of you wondering how hard it is to build a PC, don't. Even a 5-year-old can do it.

The only hard part is figure out where all the wires go for the first time, but after completely discounted and re-connected everything on mine twice it's just as simple and plugging a USB cord in for me.

Got Shadowplay working(which is cool as hell) and started uploading some footage of that this build can do.

As a kid, I would have wished my dad showed me how to build a computer. xD

Seriously, it's one of the most useful skills one can have in this day in age.

If it at least looked good, then maybe we could almost justify the fact (but no, not really) that it runs so poorly on every platform.

Behold the wonder of true next-generation cinematic gameplay.

I selected a PC build from Austin Evans (thank you for the source) but for a variety of reasons I dont think I will be able to build it myself. Are there any services one can use to construct a PC for a fee?

Do you have any PC shops near you? They could probably build it for you.

Welp. *looks for a table to flip* :muffins:

My 750ti can keep a pretty solid 40FPS+ with minimal slow-downs on BF4 with 2AA, 1080p, and Ultra/High settings with world detail on Medium, how poorly optimized is this thing that you need a $700 GPU to max it out?

Still not as bad as the Evil Within, it doesn't look much prettier than RE6(and takes place mostly in smaller areas with few enemies), yet not even a 970 can max it out and keep a solid 60FPS(it drops to 40 or so near constantly in the benchmarks I've seen).

Oh, I recorded from BF4 gameplay(the FPS didn't show on video, so you'll have to take my word for it in the description)

Ouch. Haven't played it. Didn't look like there was enough horror and too much RE6.

Getting into the home stretch now. Case and power supply have been ordered. Just the storage remains.

MX100? Or something else?

256GB MX100 and 1TB Western Digital Black.

Nice, got an MX100 here as well. Never given me any trouble. Not that a storage device should... no firmware updates available. So that's a good thing, I guess.

Of course, I'm planning on expanding it further later. You can never have enough storage, after all.

RELIABLE storage. Don't know how they are now, but copying files to my old 1.5 TB Green was akin to throwing your data into a digital wastebasket.

Well, WD Greens are pretty slow anyway, so...

So, once you have your build all together, what game will you play on it first?

Kerbal Space Program.

I'm totally not watching two different KSP streams right now nor do I have a Jeb sitting on my desk, nor a KSP wallpaper on my phone. I don't have an addiction, I swear.

KSP is great. Picked it up on sale for around $16. Figured it wouldn't be dropping much more any time soon. Friend of mine usually plays on his laptop and it c-h-u-g-s. Gloriously smooth on my desktop, so I can witness his catastrophic failures without much slowdown.

They're pretty catastrophic so I'd need one of those hexa/octa-core chips to smooth it out some more.

KSP is more heavily CPU speed-dependent than core-dependent due to limitations of the Unity engine, so having all the gigahertz is more beneficial than having all the cores.
