I still have a sore on my knuckle because "installing a new fan-cable while the system is on and full of spinning wheels of death isn't a bad idea, right?"

Side note, I found out the grain filter does nothing but make the game look slightly worse(and I mean slightly)

Filter off:

Turned on and cranked up to 100%

Oh, and AA is turned on(that's how useless it is, I'm almost convinced it's a dummy option)

I like to keep most of the post-processing off. I prefer the clean look, though I'm not opposed to PP done well, which... it usually isn't.

It seems I should have my new SSD on Wednesday. Yippee!

Which one did you decide on?

How do you feel about AA? I've found it does wonders on some games that have a lot of jagged edges after rendering.

I got the Samsung 840 Evo 1TB, for slightly larger capacity and slightly better performance. If it gets brick'd from power loss, that should be covered under warranty, anyway.

You'll probably want to check the firmware to make sure its the latest version without the performance bug. It'll probably be updated, but still good to check.

Not a huge fan of the 'post-process' AA some games employ. Some games like Guild Wars 2 have supersample AA (and the new NVIDIA drivers let you do SSAA at the driver level) which looks super nice. Would recommend it if you can spare the performance.

I can't afford to run AA at my resolution (2560x1600) on my 670 but I don't think it really needs it. It looks nice enough for me. :)

Yeah. If that's the case, it should be an easy fix. The only question is, do I do that before or after I format and install Windows on the drive?

This game has something called FXAA on the highest setting.

The updater runs in Windows, so you gotta install it first.

FXAA is fast, but blurs the image somewhat. Borderlands 2 has that and I generally just leave it off since I prefer a crisper looking image.

I might turn it off then, explains why some fine details like facial features look really shitty.

Well, I guess that makes sense. If not, it would have to go through the BIOS or something... and while possible, I imagine it'd be pretty difficult to write an installer for that. Every BIOS is a little different, so I imagine there would be all sorts of compatibility issues with such a thing.

Actually, I take that back. It looks like they've uploaded ISO images of DOS mode updaters since then, here at the bottom of the page.

Never mind, they're still the old firmware. Windows only still... guessing Linux and Mac users are none too happy about this.

FRAMES PER SECOND

IN TEAM FORTRESS 2.

img-3266226-1-Xgs2Br1.jpg

And in combat it never goes below 190! I'VE NEVER PLAYED THIS GAME THIS SMOOTHLY BEFORE!

You sound like me when I fired up Serious Sam 2 for the first time "I was getting lag on medium setting and sub-1080p before, now I can max this thing all the way out at 1080p and still be pulling over 100FPS!"

I've got Portal maxed out at 1080p and this system is still handing the game it's own ass!

Something odd, I've noticed the evil with seems to have a weird lighting engine that makes otherwise decent graphic look horrid unless the seen is lit just right, then it looks awesome:

Anyone played Far Cry 4 yet?

Nope, but it looks pretty cool like Far Cry 3. Which was awesome. I'll pick it up at some point. Maybe along with a new graphics card.

Need to prepare for holiday sales. Gotta spend money to spend money. :squee:

FC 4 will be the first game I play once I get my new SSD up and running. The reviews on consoles seem to be good, so I'm thinking it's not another AC Unity disaster. Should be worth playing.

What games should I get from pir-, er, I mean Steam. I'm down to one chapter left of The Evil Within.

I bought the series pack for far cry before far cry 4 was even announced, and I've still yet to play any of the series ;p.

Actually I lied, I played Blood dragons a bit, Blood dragons is a weird game, I don't know how to feel about it ;p.

I liked Shadow of Mordor and Legend of Korra looks pretty interesting as well. Far Cry 4 is next on my list, though.

I already knew I was going to like Blood Dragon going in but this screenshot made the game for me.

Yeah, the whole art style change to like what looks like a much older game during cutscenes is kinda weird in a way, not that i'm overly concerned with graphics directly, it's just weird how it changes entirely all of a sudden.

But the game also has some things that are strangely appealing too, regardless i've still yet to get that far in the game really, so I can't say I can really give a good opinion on it anyways.

On another note, I think that Legend of Korra looks interesting, but most of that simply has to do with the fact that I love the actual series ;p.

Yeah, Blood Dragon was basically a love letter to the 80s with random references everywhere and the awesome soundtrack by Powerglove, a band named after the NES accessory.

And it was longer than a CoD SP campaign for only $15. I hope they do something with BD and FC4.

And yeah, I haven't watched anything Avatar related for years but the game looks cool. If it goes on sale, I'll definitely pick it up.

Because sales are gonna happen.

You just watch.

I do, "other thing" if I can't afford a game yet then buy it once it's cheap.
