Well optical drives are going to become obsolete eventually thanks to steam, flash drives, and wireless technology.

I agree, if you're going to have all those free 5.25" bays you might as well stick a $15 chunk of metal into it.

I don't remember the last time I used my optical drive.

I own over 300 PC games on disc and still collect them when I see the odd one that's interesting(there's also movies and music as well as emulating disc-based games from the real thing) so I'll stop using disc-drives when time rips them from my cold, dead, hands.

I have hundreds of discs as well, but when most of the PC games I've been buying boxed are nothing more than a sheet with a Steam key and a disc full of preload data, I tend to take the savings and convenience associated with buying digital.

'course if you're a collector, it is my opinion that digital CE's are a scam, so if you want the physical goodies, I understand that part.

But I always throw in an optical drive since they're dirt cheap and you never know if someone might want something burned, because I don't like giving away flash drives.

Mine are mostly older stuff(I have some boxed games from the 80s and 90s if you can believe that)

Burning DVDs/Blu-Rays/Music CDs is nice as well(as well as hard-backups of data since discs are more reliable than HDDs)

That all comes down to last call and having the resources to download and make perminiate back-ups of all your games(which would be a shit-load of portable HDDs, and you're boned once they die and take all the contents with them). It also doesn't help collectors that like physical copies or things like the extra plastic crap collector's editions make have(also, no mare rare or collectible games if we go fully digital)

Then I can't say, they haven't been out long enough to gauge and I don't own either yet. I can speculate(Silent Hills looks really good and it's questionable if it will even come to PC since it's demo/teaser didn't. Uncharted 4 also looks really good and will be if it stacks up with the others. Sunset Overdrive also seems cool)

Or my rig(a FX-8320/750ti build that comes in at under $600 as of now and even has a Blu-Ray drive)

Agreed, the fact there was budget builds out-performing them only six months after launch proves how cheap they went on the hardware.

Sunset Overdrive was NOT good at all.

Also, I have no issue at all with the past-gen consoles, as they usually provided a unique experience. Current-gen consoles just feel like watered-down PCs.

That's what consoles have been since the PS2(and arguably even the PS1) watered down PCs.

The new consoles haven't been out long enough to judge their libraries, that would be why.

The new consoles use disgusting business practices in order to squeeze every drop of money from the poor saps who buy them.

Seriously, though, read up on it. It's quite slimy.

I wasn't aware anyone but MS did that(and I know Nintendo doesn't since they've stopped giving a shit about the console wars and started doing their own thing)

Sony also charges for online now.

I found this just looking for something ridiculous and look at this insane setup

Judging by that office phone and the audio data on the monitors, I think that might be a workstation in a studio of some kind.

Sony also charges for online now.

...and several Valve games have micro-transactions that are pure bullshit(Keys in TF2 for example). No company is 100$ innocent.

They don't require you to pay to get access to multiplayer, though. Microtransactions are bullshit no matter what game they're in, but there's a difference between charging $50/year for multiplayer and $2.49 for a virtual key.

It's a set up made for the stock market, it looks like he's using 4 firepro w9100's possibly either that or has monitor cables that split off into more monitor cables

I think some of the keys cost quite a bit more than that(and can end costing MORE than online fees depending on how often you buy them and the price). Even at $2.50, a mere 20 keys is $50.

As I said, microtransactions are bullshit regardless of game and platform. Especially when you charge $99 for them.

I'm not innocent of buying them(character slots in Marvel Puzzle Quest) but whenever I see those games that have $100 packs I question who's buying them.

The people who are completest are the ones spending thousands of dollars on the micro-transactions in order to complete a pointless game.

Honestly, microtransactions are one of the worst things mobile gaming "contributed" to the medium.

Dota 2:

Perfect example of microtransactions done right.

And I have no issue with the "booster system," or paying for a booster pack to level faster.

So, microtransactions are pure bullshit! In other news, grass is green. And grows.

Honestly im fine with them as long as they dont make the base game grindy so you buy microtransactions.

I like the way Marvel Puzzle Quest did them(the only real thing you need them for is coins to buy character slots, but even those can be earned in normal game-play if you're patient enough)

You're all gonna love this, then:

To be fair, GW2 is not pay to win. It's pay to look cool -- which some people take to the extreme.

Holy shit..

Is bad my reaction was "if wanted to spend that on gaming, I could get me a higher-end GPU and then buy so many Steam games..."

IMHO this is why some people should never have kids or should be shot.... i would never spend 6K on anything short of a car or college
