Pinkie Pie has to fight Rainbow Dash... to save her

Something's gone terribly wrong.

 

Pinkie and Dashie were just having fun at the shady spot, when an evil spirit came out of the lake and dragged Dash under. When she came back to the surface, she was something different. Something evil. And now Pinkie Pie has to fight her best friend.

...Only, she can't kill her, that's not an option here. She doesn't even really want to fight, but Evil Dash might hurt her, and the rest of her friends, if she doesn't. There's no other choice; Pinkie Pie has to knock some sense into Rainbow Dash for her own good. Once Rainbow is out cold, maybe she can get her some help. Until then, there's no holding back; she's using every trick and power at her disposal to get her friend back.

 

Evil Dash has no qualms about hurting others. There's some hope, though; the spirit knows nothing about Rainbow Dash. It has full control over her body, but no knowledge of any of her tricks, including the Sonic Rainboom. It also knows nothing about Pinkie Pie; something it may come to regret.

 

Can Pinkie bring Dash home?

What is this spirit? Why is it located under a lake? Where did it come from and why is it using Rainbow Dash? Why is there no other alternative but to fight her? Does the spirit have too much power for one pony to evade or deal with by other means? If so, why does such a powerful being need a Pegasus in the first place?

Emotions are a powerful force in Equestria, both good and bad. They can be used as an energy source, and even weapons like the Elements. Of course, good and bad always exist in a balance, and right now, Equestria is in a state of pristine peace. All that excess negative emotion had to go somewhere, and in this case, it was attracted to a magical... ley line of sorts situated under the pool. Once enough negative energy gathered there, it somehow grew a conscious, one that was fixated on "restoring the balance".

 

(In the voice of Celestia)

Of course, not even evil spirits can just go out and cause havoc; it needed some sort of vessel to do harm with. But it couldn't leave the lake, because the magical energy that created it was supporting it. Without a physical body, leaving the lake would cause it to dissipate.

 

So it had to wait for somepony to come to it. The only two visitors that commonly found themselves at the lake were the elements of Laughter and Loyalty, so it had to take one of them. It (foolishly) dismissed the element of Laughter as the vastly weaker of the two, and instead struck Rainbow Dash when she was unaware. It took control of her body and decided to use her as its first weapon.

 

I suppose its goal was to spread itself among ponies like a virus and leave Equestria in a state of disharmony. The plan might have very well worked; ponies taken by the spirit look no different from before, making detection a difficult task. But before it could do that, it would first have to remove the primary sources of good that existed, so it turned on the closest existing one; the element of Laughter.

Apparently something has gone terribly wrong, considering this scenario has inadvertently summoned me into this madness.

Im going to ignore any and all attempts and objections to say what Pinkie can or cannot do, because it's Pinkie. 

 

Now with that said, i will now end this entire scenario, and whatever silly struggle one might think this situation might have for Pinkie, facing this evil spirit possessed RD, and just say this:

Pinkie laughs at possessed RD it. Evil spirit goes *poof*, RD is no longer possessed, Equestria is saved. The End 

 

Giggle at the ghostie is op against evil spirits.

...If Pinkie had a guardian angel, I imagine it would be very similar to you, Pills; you're always looking out for her. It's like you've been talking to her, that answer is so Pinkie.

 

Of course, leave it to her to pick the third option and save herself, her friends, and Equestria...with a laugh. "Giggle at the ghosties," indeed.

I will ask Can the "Dash Spirit" fly?  If so, it can always escape because Pinkie can't.  Of course, as shown in Too Many Pinkies, P can really move when she wants to, so it won't be easy to outdistance her.

 

As to its motive.  I suppose it could be something like asking for help, or righting an ancient wrong but just possessing somebody is the wrong way to go about it.  I can see why P would assume it was evil. (Perhaps her "Pinkie Sense" told her.

 

Pinkie is an Earth Pony.  If this spirit makes the mistake of trying to grab P, then P will capture it.
