Does MLP has much complexity for children?

Children are smarter than most people give them credit for..... Guessing the median demographic age is 8 for MLP FIM, it can be assumed that for the most part that they can understand the plots. (Not that they were really complex in the first place)

I always watch the show to enjoy it, and it's easy to do that... Although I don't know if younger folks have an easier time doing that too. It's not too complex, I think, so hakuna matata.

I personally think that there were several plots in Call Of Duty and Metal Gear. I played Metal Gear at like 4, and played Tomb Raider at 5. In Call Of Duty Black Ops, you could interpret the plot as ''Guy shoots bad guys while regaining his memories''. Or ''Guy shoots bad guys discovering the secret of his friend in russia''. Or ''Guy shoots bad guys to discover a massive conspiracy''. It is possible, I understand pretty much every plot of a video game. But yeah, I think MLP isn't too complex unless you interpret it that way. The most complicated episodes to understand were the Changeling episodes. I'm not sure if they are exactly ''Child Friendly''. Considering they are based on Borg, Xenomorphs and Fake Snuff Films(Yes, they were inspired by the director of Guinea Pig). And I think ''Trade Ya'' had a mixed message on Barter Trade vs Currency.

Well, I'd say yes and no. As the analyst community has proven, there is usually a lot more to a simple concept than meets the eye.

The overall plot is simple and easy enough for most kids to grasp (though to be fair plenty of kids are smarter than we give them credit for), but there is also a level of complexity that we often don't pay much attention to. Look at "Flight to the Finish" and how it deals with bullying; which is a real life problem that too many kids often have to face. That episode looks at the issue in a mature way, but not in an exactly simple way. Honestly, if I was bullied like that my parents would've had me fight back (which I never did). Conversely, the episode looks at how some kids might respond, how unhealthy said responses can be, and how those older can help out without confronting the billies themselves.

It may look simple in a way, but I think there's definitely a level of complexity that we miss.
