It's your first day at your new school and you're traveling on the Hogwarts Express. Are you nervous? Or perhaps, you're excited. Maybe a mixture of both. Make new friends on the train, and think about your sorting. What house will be yours? There's also the worry about He Who Must Not Be Named, the dark pegasus stallion Voldemort who some say is dead, but others say is still out there somewhere.

Rules.

 

1. Normal RPing rules apply. Please try to post at least once a week and let me know in this thread if you're gonna take a break for any reason. No godmoding, Mary Sues or throwing in new plot points without asking the DM, ie me, first.

 

2. This is Harry Potter and also ponies. Rules for both apply. I have adapted the universe accordingly to fit with ponies so please keep to the adaptations below. If you are unsure about anything, then ask!

 

3. Regarding houses; I'd like an even mix of students so if one house is full, then please choose another for your character as it will be first come, first served. Teachers will be NPC and played by me unless of course somepony wants to play a teacher.

 

Adaptations to the universe to accommodate ponies are as follows. No alicorns allowed; only the Headmaster is one. No non pony species, please. Remember, Hogwarts is full of magic sensors so a disguised changeling for example would be found out right away!

 

Purebloods - Unicorns. Pureblooded witches and wizard ponies are always unicorns. They perform magic with their horns.

 

Halfbloods - Pegasi. Halfbloods are always pegasi, with at least one unicorn parent. They perform magic with their wings.

 

Muggleborn - Earth ponies/Zebras. Muggleborns are always earth ponies or zebras. They perform magic with wands held in their mouths.

 

Quidditch. Pegasi fly with their own wings, unicorns and earth ponies/zebras perform a spell to give them temporary wings. This spell is only taught to second year students so the rule about no first years in the teams still applies.

 

Houses. All the founders are alicorns.

 

Gryffindor - Founder is Godric Gryffindor, a red stallion with a gold mane and tail. His cutie mark is a lion, representing bravery.

 

Ravenclaw - Founder is Rowena Ravenclaw, a blue mare with a bronze mane and tail. Her cutie mark is an eagle, representing cleverness.

 

Hufflepuff - Founder is Helga Hufflepuff, a yellow mare with a black mane and tail. Her cutie mark is a badger, representing loyalty.

 

Slytherin - Founder is Salazar Slytherin, a silver stallion with a green mane and tail. His cutie mark is a serpent, representing cunning.

 

The founders are not to be RPed, instead representing the symbols of your chosen house.

I was going to make the offer Mythos being a Slytherin, like I did before, a Pure-Blood of a rich family much like Malfoy was... though less racist/arrogant/superior minded and more friendly with all races and the other Houses, yet more for the personal reason of understanding allies and friends are better then enemies. That is it better to be liked then hated if you are to rise up and take a position of influence.

I'd have liked to enter my OC, Amber Dust, as a Ravenclaw, but she's a unicorn and I just can't see her being a pureblood. :/ Her closest unicorn relative is her great-grandfather...so I think that'd make her more if a mudblood.

I feel like you might want to change the rules regarding race. It seems a little too restrictive.

 

Then again, mixing HP with mlp is kind of tricky to begin with.

Such as Mythos Gray covering not only the core class History of Magic but also the Extra-curricular class Ancient Studies? Also Stardream with both the core class Astronomy and the elective Divination? Golden Dawn would just be the teacher of The Defense Against the Dark Arts.

@@AmberDust, I'm not going to change the rules; this seemed the only way to make a crossover plausible, ie using pony races instead of blood purity. You can always change your character's race to fit with the RP, you know.

You can have a pure-blood wizard or witch in other Houses then Slytherin, there is no restriction there. The only restriction really shown to be in effect is no muggle-born wizards or witches in the Slytherin House. A unicorn in Ravenclaw House shouldn't be a problem.

 

Also, not all pure-bloods are bad/evil or something you should feel the need to avoid. Remember the Weasley family.

Strength and Weaknesses: Skilled in use of charms used to hide, deceive, disguise, or create illusionary effects. Weak in the way of transmutation and conjuration. Has a record of Dark Art use when it comes to necromancy, making him a monitored wizard by the Ministry of Magic

Personality: Mythos is very much about enjoying himself, even if there is risk involved. He has a love of a good story whether it is history and ponylore, more offer such stories and history to others for their enjoyment. He is charismatic, and has a gift for getting ponies to like him using his good manners and respectful speech. Hopes and dreams. Why is your character teaching at Hogwarts?: Seeks to be remembered, to pass on his knowledge and learning to others. He joined Hogwarts as a professor so as to instill a love of stories and the past in others, to show that history does not need to be boring and that much can be learned from witches and wizards of the past. He choose the school because of its reputation of bringing out some of the best the magic community produces.
Biography:

Mythos was born in a well to do pure blood family who always seemed to be busy being involved in some social function or event. His father Brightstrings being an extremely skilled violinist and his mother Autumnheart a well respected private teacher of Equestrian and magical history. As a foal Mythos had plenty of time to himself, where he learned how to read as well as play music on the piano and violin. Yet while reading came easy to him, the musical arts were much harder. Yet Mythos was even at this young age a determinant lad and he actually did become fairly good at these instruments.

As time went on Mythos expand his studies to not only the basics he needed to know but more, but other things as well as he had yet to discover his special talent. This frustrated him and pushed him to try new things. Now like all self respecting unicorn he learned to use the basics of levitation and illuminating his horn, though it was not until his invitation to Hogwarts that he could go past these basics. Yet before this came the event that would mark the gaining of his cutiemark when seeking to entertain and visiting relative, a pegasus by the name of Sundipple who was feeling down. With a smile and surprising flair at such a young age he would tell the filly a story, thus gaining his cutiemark.

When he got his letter to join Hogwarts was an exciting time for him and an honor his parents were quite proud of seeing, especially when she was placed in the Sytherian House. While it was not all fun and games, nor was it always easy, Mythos did prove himself and got high marks each year in most of his classes. Of note was his top marks in History of Magic, Charms, Ancient Studies, Care of Magical Creatures, and Apparition his sixth year. Yet he was also notorious for getting in trouble and in later years at the school with his charming of young mares before breaking their hearts. He would graduate with an impressive records, though he had his weakness in Potions, Transmutations, Herbology, and Astronamy.

After this, Mythos would travel the world, making a name for himself as an adventurer and storyteller, writing a number of books both of fiction and of history while secretly dabbling in the Dark Arts. After the death of his wife and getting in some trouble with the Ministry of Magic for dealing in necromancy the stallion would decide it was time to settle himself by becoming a professor at the very school he had gone to in his youth, thus taking the class the History of Magic and Ancient Studies.

 

Character Name: Stardream

Character Age: 26

Character Race: Pegaus

Character Education: Graduate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Took extra schooling to become an Astrologer as well worked hard to improve her talent in Divination, before putting this aside to become a professor at Hogwarts.

Strength and Weaknesses: Knowledgeable in ways of the night sky, of stars and their movements, of the planets and other celestial bodies. Given her special talent, she is also trained in use of all the different methods of divination though not all are as effective as others. Perhaps her greatest weakness is her more passive nature, as well as having only average skill on most forms of magic though she did well in school.

Physical Description: She has a midnight blue mane and tail, long and wavy. Has a dark blue coat, moving to near black it would seem from afar and green eyes. Basic care seems to have been taken in keeping her mane and tail clean and combed, but to some it could be considered a bit messy and with no real style to it. Her cutiemark is that of a green imageof an eye with a black pupil surround in light blue aura.

Personality: A mare uncertain of her roots, her parents a mystery she seeks to learn of herself and of what she can do. Orphaned when young, she was raised by a old muggle woman, and since she had no one to turn to explain the strange things had become sky and afraid of being around others Because of the nature of her gift she is uncertain around others, doing what she can to hide herself behind being an astrologist and lettings ponies thinking her detailed understanding of the stars is her talent. She is not one to become close to others, though some seem drawn to her shy nature. Slow to trust, given her childhood and because of her pas relationship. Has a love of reading, but mostly only those on the night sky and the stars. Books that might help her understand her talent better. Likes meeting through with good manners, yet grows frustrated with those who show selfishness, take risks, and cause trouble.

 

Hopes and dreams. Why is your character teaching at Hogwarts?: She has a love of the night sky, and seek to pass on such a love to others. To teach them of the beauty of the stars, the moon, the planets, and many other wonders. Seeks to be a source of aid to others, to use her unique gift to helps others not only in school but in their own life though keep hidden the true reason for such insight. Has grown uncertain of being a professor given her past relationship with a certain charming unicorn

Biography:

Named by the parents Stardream would never know she had to spend her earliest years at an orphanage, but was taken in by what would seemed to be a crabby high class old mare by the name of Sourbloom. It actually confused some why an earth pony would want to adopt a pegasus but the old mare was insistent. It wasn't until she was older that she understood why she even was adopted, though at least Sourbloom played with her bit, bought things for her, and paid attention to her... they did manage to become friends somehow. It would seem it didn't take much for the old mare to start complaining though, and it didn't help that Stardream wings and her learning to use them right broke things but it would seem most of the time Sourbloom just complained about her family who never visited and only seem to want her money.

 

It was when Stardream was a young filly she that she got her cutie mark. Having always had an interest in the night sky and feeling a comfort being under them... even thinking sometimes they could hear and understand her. She talked to the stars, considering them friends as she wished time and again that they would talk back to her. At times she thought they did, even hearing what would seem to be warnings that protected her from danger. Once listening to the stars had saved the live of her guardian, which is how she gained her cutie mark, in which Sourbloom had a small heart attack. The stars prompted Stardream to look for Sourbloom as soon as it started and because of this medical staff were able to get to her in time to stabilize her, thus saving the old mare's life.

 

Yet came to surprise two both, to Sourbloom since she was a muggle with no knowledge of witchs and wizards though at first thinking it was some sort of prank, and for Stardream herself though when given time to think with would explain many of the strange things that had happened in her youth. Yet after discussing details with her guardian it was decided she was a special filly with a gift that could suggest magical gift. As such, the old earth pony mare would help Stardream acquire what she need for school and even getting her the best her money could buy once exchanged.

 

The filly would grow up, doing well in school though she only got top marks in Astrology given how much she had learned on her own and how it was her passion. It was actually at Hogwarts she would meet Mythos in her, who would take a shine to the filly though he was a unicorn from Slytherin while she was just a pegasus from Hufflepuff. Charmed by the colt and finding herself spending much of her free time with him, Stardream find herself uncomfortable with how often the colt would flirt with other fillies and manipulatie students. Yet it was towards the end of their time at Hogwarts that she would end it, finding out Mythos had been involving himself with a shady group of students though it would not help that Sourbloom had died of old age while at the school.

 

Parting ways completely after graduation, Stardream would with a heavy heart would begin her career as an astrologer and continue her life quietly as well as take hold of her guardian's estate to the upset of the extended family. She would take up employment with a unicorn wizard by the Stargazer, learning from him what she was not taught in school as they mare worked in the palace. Yet eventually, she would feel a different pull back to the school she had been a student. After discussion with her mentor and employer Stargazer the pegasus would take the position of the professor of the classes Astrology and Divination.

 

Character Name: Golden Dawn

Character Age: 25

Character Race: Pegasus

Character Education: Graduate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, getting top marks so as to qualify for his training as an Auror and follow in the hoofsteps of his father. Became a full Auror, but took up the position of professor at Hogwarts later.

Strength and Weaknesses: Very skilled at defensive Charms and also Conjuration, yet can also be surprisingly effective in transmutation and potions. Really all aspects of magic are important given the career he had chosen and the stringent requirements need. For weakness though more subtle and deceptive magic is beyond him, though he can still most often recognize its use and defend against it. He is also very honest, often to a fault, and is very serious. With be strict and unforgiving when it comes to rule breaking, to the point where many students many not like him.

Physical Description: A stallion with a golden yellow coat and wings. His mane and tail a dark brown color, almost black. His eyes are a more bronze yellow, and a serious look on his face with small scars all over his muzzle and marks on his wings. An image of a golden sun just rising over a field, with darkness moving away from the sun's rays. His cutiemark represent his firmness of believe and willingness to stand strong like the sun against fear.

Personality: Once cheerful and idealistic, though he has grown much more serious since becoming an Auror . Still despite his strictness and can still show the cheerfulness and idealism he had in his young. He keeps to himself most of the time though others may get him to have fun. One to never give up and courage to see himself through any danger, and will always helps those in need. While show a dedicated passion for teaching, and while not slack of in his duties or responsibilities.

Hopes and dreams. Why is your character teaching at Hogwarts?: He seeks nothing more then to pass on his knowledge and teach the generations to come how to defend themselves against the worst examples of their kind, the dangerous and deranged, monsters and creatures that are toxic or fatal if met. Golden understands he cannot be everywhere, so feels teaching at one of the most prestigious schools in Equestria would allow him to offer the tools and skills necessary to face any threats to come. Yet he had a mission assigned while there, to keep an eye on Professor Gray and make certain he doesn't do what he shouldn't.

I'm submitting Amber Dust as a Ravenclaw. This seems like fun.

 

(I was only concerned earlier because Amber's parents aren't unicorns, so I was afraid it wouldn't really make sense if SHE was a pureblood when her parent weren't lol. But I guess that doesn't matter.)

Character Age: this can change, depending on setting. If the RP is mostly first-years, she'll be 11.

Physical Description: Long blue mane/tail, one of which is always braided. Amber eyes and freckles on her nose.

Biography: I'm going to say right off the bat that this is an AU version of Amber--so this is going to be a bit different from her usual backstory. I'd like her to still be the only unicorn in her immediate family, if its allowed. Or at least the only unicorn amongst her siblings.

Amber Dust was not like the rest of her family. Unlike her brothers and sister, Amber had little interest in things like money, possessions, and social interactions. She had everything she needed inside her head. And was always delighted to share with her two only friends--and the only ponies who believed her stories.

Amber had a passion for discovery. She loved ancien things and magical things, and always felt that everything had a hidden potential waiting to be found. She devoted her young life to exploration, looking for new things to study and new stories to tell. It wasn't long before she received a mysterious letter in the post, inviting her to a faraway place. Ecstatic, Amber rushed the letter over to her parents, who were quick to agree--their daughter would attend magic school and learn to fulfil her own secret hidden potential, while discovering things about the ancient magical world, day by day.

Biography: Link in signature. Amendment: Lightning's father was a unicorn and her mother was a pegasus. She found out that she was a witch when she was 8 years old. She found out from her father (accidentally). She caught him doing magic and he figured that there was no point hiding it. He explained everything to her and started teaching her the basics of magic, so that she would be prepared when she received her Hogwarts letter.

 

On the Pottermore quiz thing, I got Hufflepuff and Lightning Strike is basically me as a pony, so I guess she would be Hufflepuff. :3

Sorry this has taken so long, things have been hectic!

 

Character Name: Diego.

Character Age: Eleven.

Hometown: Trottingham.

Character Race: Unicorn.

Physical Description: Diego is slimly built, much like his mother, and has patched indigo and dark red fur, with a black mane and tail. His eyes are red.

Personality: Diego is a loner mostly, tho if anypony can get thru to him, he'll be friends with them. Diego finds it very difficult to make friends, but once somepony makes the effort to get thru his barriers, he'll be loyal to them for life.

He's offbeam and pulls quite a few pranks; not out of maliciousness, at least, not all the time, but cuz his sense of humour is skewed compared to other ponies. He can be difficult to hold back once he's got a plan of action lodged in his skull. Think Leroy Jenkins... He doesn't think about consequences.

Diego is impulsive and will rush headlong into danger, regardless of circumstances, especially if it's to help out one of his few friends. He can be hot tempered and blows up suddenly, tho he never holds a grudge and will forget all about his bad temper later on.

Biography: Diego's father left his mother when he was only small, and he doesn't remember him. His mother, Shadow Star, is still bitter and refuses to talk about her ex to her son. Diego grew up rather wild, as his mother was lax on discipline and didn't check his rather crazy impulses. Shadow Star is a gambler and preferred to frequent the bars and clubs rather than spend time being a mother. Diego likes her, and has no interest in finding his father, or finding out what happened to him. Shadow Star taught her son at home, rather than send him to the local school, as she figured that her son would only get expelled from there sooner or later. When he received the letter from Hogwarts at age eleven, Shadow Star decided reluctantly that she would let him go, cuz she wanted him to get the best magical education that he could.

First year, but it's preferable if people don't have their character be bestest friends with Harry and co. I've seen that happen way too many times in fanfic and RP and it annoys me. Besides, since so far there are no Gryffs, nopony is likely to be getting close.

Do muggleponies know about the magic world or not?

Seeing how the two worlds of HP and MLP combined, I am trying to find out weither magic is known throughout the world or not.

 

As in MLP it is a everyday thing and in HP secluded to mostly wizards.

 

I want to know this since I'm thinking of creating a muggleborn.
