Mystery Pony Theater 3000 **Voice Actors Wanted**

[MVC NVMXD JVRXD 2,406]

After watching the show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (http://www.mst3k.com/), I got the idea to do the same thing, but instead of watching bad sci-fi movies I want it to be of MLP:FIM. What I want it to be is Pinkie PIe and Rainbow Dash cracking jokes, so I'm gonna need voice actors. So pm me with auditions, or post them below.

 

And I made a quick picture of what it would look like.

Well, aside from voice acting I believe you need to put lots of thoughts into what jokes to make. Lots of videos out there under the title of "Let's Watch". What MST3K (and their current project Rifftrax) have that youtuber "Let's Watch" commentaries lack is a solid focus on jokes and timing. Mike Nelson (who we know as the head writer of MST3K, and the 2nd host) is a genius when it comes to mixing references and jokes at a rapid fire pace (I loved how he was always sneaking in Lord of the Rings book references).

 

Mike Nelson and Joel Hodgson, and the rest of the cast were only decent stand-up comics, but get them writing commentary for movies and they are unmatched. To define your project over other people doing similar things will depend on writing, or having someone with a spot on sense of humor that is different from other commentators.

 

That's just my two cents as a huge MST3K fan.

For example, probably one of my favorite things that the MST3K crew would do is come up with a running gag and keep building it up the entire length of a movie (and sometimes it would even make its way into other episodes, such as the many Torgo jokes in Manos, the Hands of Fate)

 

My personal favorite has always been the increasingly over the top "Manly-macho names" gag for the character Jack Ryder in Space Mutiny (Season 8, Episode 20)

I like the on-going jokes in Manhunt in Space. That is definitely a good example of a 'quality episode'.
