Me and my stupid identity crisis...

Hey everyone! If you read above, you already now my story of how I got into the fandom, so I'll go ahead and mention something else.

 

I'm a adult male... that's as much as I'm giving out on my age, sorry.

 

I am a bit of an audiophile. I can't tell you a lot about how they compose the stuff, but if I hear something I like, I will overplay it and still not get tired of it. have a huge collection of pony music on my Ipod.

 

I'm a writer. I write on fimfiction.com under the pen name Night-Sky currently. But, as this thread will later explain, that name will be changing soon.

 

I am in the Marine Corp. Not a marine yet, I still have to earn that. I'm currently in the delayed entry program, and will be shipping to boot camp in September if all goes according to plan. Oorah!

 

I had no idea who best princess is. I love Twilight, Luna is adorkable, especially all the personalities that the fandom had given her, and I have high respect for Celestia and how she has helped form Equestria into what it is today. Cadence is sweet, but not nearly as interesting to me as the others, so she isn't in the running. If you feel you can help me decide, by all means, do try.

 

And I am a christian. My faith is extremely important to me, and I truly believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

 

So, now for the original reason I decided to make this thread. I'm not one who normally likes to ask for assistance, and the last thing I would normally want to do upon introducing myself is ask for help, but I'm having a bit of a dilemma. It's part of the reason that I am 'A Wild Magikarp' rather than some form of pony name or another. You see, I HAVE an OC. His name is Night Sky, he is an earth pony scientist, and I even have him as the main protagonist in a story I am writing. He has a full back-story, friends and family listed, yada-yada-yada, but as of late, I have been doing some soul searching of sorts, and have come to the conclusion that he is not ME. I mean, I can relate to him in some ways, and in a lot of ways, he was meant to be my personified as a pony. But in the end, he just isn't what I see myself being.

 

I started making a new character, one that fits me better, and I have his appearance down, he is a unicorn with a brown coat, cyan eyes, and a blue mane with red highlights. There is just two things that he is missing; his name, and cutie mark. I have two cutie marks in mind, one being a shield with a star representing my service, and the other a scroll and quill, for my love of literature and writing. I have asked my fellow bronies, and they have no idea. So here I am, asking for my fellows on the internet for help.

 

Can you bronies and pegasisters out there that read this help me find a name for my new OC? And which mark should I pick?

 

Using what I have typed, that I am male, a writer, a christian, a marine, and the marks provided, I would love any and all help you guys could offer.

I'm not really that knowledgeable when it comes to OCs, I'm afraid (don't have any myself, actually ) so I can't really judge, I'm afraid I think you'll know what's best though, as the creator of and most passionate person about your OC; just keep thinking about your OC down to the smallest detail,and you'll think of something, I'm sure

It just seems more like a scientist cutie mark because scientists take A LOT of notes while they are doing experiments. Trust me on this.
