Hello everyone

I was browsing through the Rp section and noticed a lack of persona based roleplays going on and figured I'd take a shot at making my own. I thought up this concept back when the P5 gameplay trailer got released and I was really hyped, but I couldn't post it sooner because of real life.

Anyway, the jist of this takes place at Canterlot University, a prestigious center of higher education rivaled only by Celestia's very own academy. Rumor has it, that the princess herself has recently entrusted the university with a powerful magical artifact in the hopes of research. However along with it came the claim of terrible things happening to those who look at their reflection in any mirror at midnight. You are a freshman that has recently enrolled at this institution, excited to pursue your dreams at one of the best school in all of Equestria.

For this rp I'm going to require you to both a pony version of your OC and a human version. The perpose of this will be explained later on in the RP. (I'm sorry if this sounds a little confusing right now.) The character sheet I'll be using for this rp is the following and forgive me if its a little dull right now I'm posting this from my phone, I'll make it more presentable when I get home.

Brief Back Story: (I don't wanna read your characters whole life story, but give me a sparknotes version of it.)

Human Appearance: (Clothing, hairstyle, etc.)

Weapons: (can be anything from a handgun to a folding chair. Just nothing too ridiculous here like a minigun or something.)

Persona: (can be any classical literature character or mythological being)

Element: (Fire/ice/wind/elec/light/dark) determines what attacks you can use, I'll have you all do an ability list later I don't want this to be so complicated to start with. This will also determine you're weakness later on.


Major/Concentration: (can be anything but don't make a Pegasus that majors in magic or something like that.)

I'm going to be personally playing the support character along with any other 3rd party NPC for obvious reasons. I will have my support character posted here later when I get off work. If there any questions please feel free to ask them and I will answer them in a timely fashion. I'm currently only looking for 5 characters as of right now but I may open up another slot in the future.

List of rules since I stupidly forgot to put some here originally (you can blame midterms for this)

1. No god-modding

2. Cursing is perfectly okay, just don't over do it

3. Persona usage is limited to once per post while in combat NO EXCEPTIONS (will get into this later)

Human Appearance: (EQG style human) blue skin, blond hair, wears sunglasses, a thin black jacket, a plain grey t-shirt, and black jean pants

Weapons: Swords

Persona: Athena (Chosen because she is the goddess of wisdom and she was a called a superb strategist)

Element: electric

Major/Concentration: Strategic thinking

 

also will this have the shadow concept from P4 i just like the idea of dealing with your shadow self

Accepted and yes you can have more than one element, but for now just pick one, I don't want to make this over the top complicated yet. I want to gradually introduce the more complex parts of this because picking abilities is probably going to be as hard as picking traits on a dnd character (not really but you get the idea). Once we get more things organized I will walk everyone through the weird process I've made up for this rp. Also you will need to buy new weapons, but once again that will explained later once we get things I don't wanna bog this whole thing down and make people uninterested in this.

Accepted although this is more of a college age RP instead of the typical high school setting in all the other games, I wanted to try something different with this so bare with me. More or less just change your age to like 18 or 19 and you'll be fine, unless you wanna play some sort of gifted kid which admittedly would be interesting. Also please come up with a name for yourself I don't wanna call you "can't think of one" the whole rp . Otherwise it's all good... and the thing about facing yourself will be in the rp but it's not going to be one of the main themes until later on. For perspective i'm going for more of a P3 sort of theme here, I figured it would make for a better rp since it would allow way more freedom. As for the EQ vs realistic I was going to take a vote once we get everyone's characters together, I'm planned for either. Well actually in all honestly either option doesn't affect the story at all really...

This rp is definitely NOT canon, though I will have some crossovers in it from both P3 and P4. I will make it blatantly obvious who they will be in the rp once we get things going. As for the velvet room it will be either open to everyone or not involved at all just to be fair to everyone, I feel like it's kind of a dick move if someone gets incredibly OP powers over everyone else in the party. Oh and you can use any persona from the previous games Izanagi or Orpheus if you wanted to. Just no ultimate forms like Trismegistus.

you are welcome to join in anyway, I'm going to try and make this rp welcome to everyone instead of just hardcore persona fans. Besides in some aspects your lack of knowledge might actually enhance your experience with this and make for an interesting character.

Name: Dr.Fortunato

 

Pony Race: Unicorn

 

Age: 29 (for story purposes he's a researcher/professor here at the university.)

 

Cutiemark: Golden Tome (resembles his magical talent, kinda generic but whatever)

 

Appearance: Light cyan blue, with messy light brown hair. Constantly found wearing a lab coat and glasses (though he doesn't actually need them they make him look more "intelligent" according to him)

 

Personality: Quirky, Charming, outgoing, odd sense of humor, LOVES making tearable puns (see what I did there?) Has a particular obsession with a certain soft drink while human. Though when it comes to his research he's serious, dedicated, if but a bit lazy.

 

Brief Back Story: Went to Canterlot University himself both for undergrad and grad school, loves researching and studying magic as well as sharing his knowledge with others willing to listen. It also pays above average so that also kind of helps.... It also helps distract himself after the tragedy of his late fiance. Currently he is the head of the research team experimenting on the rumored magical artifact.

 

Human Appearance: Tall, messy brown hair, thick rimmed glasses (ironically needs them in human form for some strange reason), lab coat/lab clothes, white skin.

 

Weapons: Handgun

 

Persona: Nevermore (it's a huge raven)

 

Element: Wind/Dark

 

Major/Concentration: Professor of magical studies and archaeology

hey question P3 started with only 3 party members and P4 started with just 1 for 2 fights 1 being a boss fight besides the games always start with a bunch of set-up for the premise and every time someone new joins us we can just say its the next month if we are using the P3/P4 formula.  so can we start to establish our characters.

You really shouldn't compared that with the story itself. It good to have a base and the lore of persona 3/4. Going to do that using either P3 or P4 would make all the other roleplayers have to wait which would lead to an end to the roleplay early. Honestly, if we're going by the book on Persona, it should really go establishing the characters, the interactions with them, and slowly creep up the danger that could come or a realization over time. Not all characters have to, but at least one (if you want to go the 9 yards, the main character/leader should.)

To be fair I think in the first two persona games all the characters had the wild card ability and could enter the velvet room. To be fair I've only played Persona 3 and 4 and Arena (not Ulitmax  or Q unfortunately)

 

Also how plausible would it be to be a character from the human world?

 

Edit: Also thinking of Q; they had like... Sub-Personas in that game I think, so everyone has their main persona then can also 'equip' a second sub persona

Normally I wouldn't accept alicorns but since I totally forgot to put that rule (or post rules in general) in the original post i'll let it slide, just make your characeter a bit younger like 20 to fit the age group and you're totally okay. My only request is that you refrain from abusing your potentially OP powers during the rp

you took the words right out of my mouth, though I will say the beginning will be a bit lax just so we can get a feel for it and make necessary changes. I'm going to be honest you all are going to be my guinea pigs for a bit, but once we get everything down it'll be as close to a persona game I can make it without completely destroying the fun.

Brief Back Story: A trouble and misguided youth of the human world; lost his parents at a young age due to an unexpected house fire and bounced around from foster family to foster family; as a result he didn't make very many friends.

 

Human Appearance: Tall and lithe frame; messy dark red hair similar to his pony form. Wears a white t-shirt underneith a black leather jacket. Wears faded grey jeans with a chain wallet and black leather boots.

 

Weapons: Greatsword

 

Persona: Fenrir (mythical wolf from norse mythology)

Can we get a starting point i just like have a place to start or a list of locations to visit in the town to use for proper world building and use.  Also is the school a boarding school or just go and leave and go back the next day kind of school do we have to worry about stats.
