Tyra perked up at the sounds of yelps from the street, and the pounding of paws on the road.

Her eyes widened. She knew those paws.

 

She turned around, and saw a huge ice wolf charging for the group. Specifically, for her.

"I can't be...!" She muttered. The wolf pounced her and pinned her to the ground hard.

 

It dropped the letter hanging from its mouth as it started licking her up the face, its huge fluffy tail wagging.

"Aye, I missed you too!" She chirped, flailing her forehooves, "What are you doing here?"

 

She noticed the note as the wolf got off and sat down attentively, panting. She opened it and began reading.

 

Greetings Tyra,

 

We received your warning, and managed to prepare the village in time for the invasion.

It was a rousing battle that lasted many hours, but we are happy to report that we have succeeded with no casualties.

 

Though the village received much damage, and we are currently working to repair the wall, but you have no need to worry.

 

Your brother rallied our forces incredibly well, and I feel he is ready to take my throne when the time comes. He sends his heartfelt greetings, as do we all.

 

We have sent Blizzard to give you this reply, and we feel she will be helpful to you on your quest.

Continue to make us all proud.

Tyra smiled, wiping a tear of relief from her eye, and petted the wolf, Blizzard, lovingly on the cheek. "Good girl."

Ticktock dropped his sword as the wolf ran straight past him and jumped on Tyra with a letter of some kind. Ticktock then looked at Tyra and the wolf and cocked his eyebrow "Well I think there is something I am missing here would you care to explain Tyra?"

Red was standing stock still, hackles rising, sword in mouth, staring at the giant white wolf.

 

It seemed to be three times the size of her. How could that thing be a friend of Tyra's?!

 

...Tyra was a viking from the north. Right, she'd almost forgotten. She casually sheathed her sword as though nothing had happened and proceeded to simply stare at the giant dog.

Tyra hopped onto her hooves, wiping the sheet of drool off her face, and pointed to the large wolf.

"This is Blizzard, my pet ice wolf," She explained, grinning widely, "I found her abandoned in the frozen wastes as a puppy, and she began following me around after I gave her some food. We have been best friends ever since!"

 

Blizzard nuzzled her large head against her master's side, tail wagging again.

"She seems to be able to find me anywhere," She continued, nuzzling her back, "She is an incredible tracker!"

 

She noted her friends' wariness of the large beast, and smiled. "You may pet her if you wish, she trusts any friend of mine!"

Ticktock nodded sceptically and walked over to Blizzard and began you pet her "Hey girl well aren't you just a beautiful wolf and smart wolf ? Yes you are" Ticktock was still pretty scared of the wolf and was just trying to hide his insecurity although it wasn't quite working.

Blizzard looked at the wolf who had the same name as him, "She's cute! And awesome looking at the same time. Blizzard huh? Heh. That's right. Only the coolest creatures have a name as awesome as that." he said as he scratched her ears and turned to Tyra, "She's cool Tyra. You mean to tell me this is your PET?"

Red was still staring at the giant wolf. She had the feeling that if she looked away, the wolf would bite her head off. "Yes." She said. "Adorable." She spoke in a monotone as she slowly took a step back. She coughed slightly. "Ticktock still has something to tell us, yes? And what's the letter your, ahem, pet gave you?"

Blizzard happily nuzzled against Ticktock's hoof, tail wagging, then began thumping her hind leg on the ground from being scratched behind the ears.

Red was met with a large, slobbery lick up the face.

 

"Aye, she is my pet," Tyra confirmed to Blizzard (the pony, obvs), and turned to Red, "It was from my father at home. He said that everything at my village is fine, and that they are making repairs!"

 

Simply explaining that seemed to just make her feel even better.

Blizzard was happy that Tyra's home was safe, "Cool! Literally. Such a loyal friend you got here axe girl." he then got an idea, "Hey! Why don't we let her stay with us on our adventure? She looks like a menacing one. And, it'd be nice to have another team member. Whaddya say girl? Wanna be on our team?" he said as he scratched her other ear.

Ticktock pulled away from the dog and began rummaging through his saddle bag until he pulled out a golden key with a jewel encrusted gear on top of it. "Ah here it is my house key so then lets get going."

 

Ticktock lead them to a lonely tower which seemed surprisingly well up kept we apart from how every plant and blade of grass was withered and grey. Ticktock gave a semi happy sigh "Ah home sweet home." Ticktock then began tumbling with his key seeming to forget he could use magic.

All the way there, Blizzard kept walking even up with Blizzard (wolf), and looked her over, "Pretty amazing! You're a very lucky wolf Blizzard, your owner's a pretty tough one. I wonder how you managed to get here all by yourself. Like, how did you know Tyra was here?" he realized who he was talking to and facehooved, "Oh right. Oh well...." he began to gently pet her.

Tyra sat and watched as Ticktock fumbled around with his key. She looked up at the tower, tilting her head.

"You live in a tower?" She muttered, blinking, "I had heard some unicorns do that in stories..."

 

She looked to Ice, who was apparently happy to have Blizzard along, and grinned.

"She would follow me anywhere," She told him, patting the wolf's side, "I would be happy to let her come with us!"

Blizzard gulped, "Uh...axe girl. She won't forget who we are right? I mean she'll be able to tell that we're friendly and not attack us right?" he asked with a little bit of a shaky voice. He knew that many animals could tell friend from foe, but he wanted confirmation from the owner.

Tyra looked to Ice, with a puzzled look and a blink of the eyes.

"Of course she will recognise us," She answered, tilting her head, "She has our scents, she could find us in a horde of skunks!"

 

She patted Blizzard on the side, making her tail wag. "She is a smart wolf, she knows who her friends are!"

Blizzard was happy to have made a new friend, but was getting impatient with Ticktock, "Yeah you're right. Wolves have a better sense of smell than ponies do. Ugh... come on Ticktock what's the holdup?" he then thought of a waiting game, "Ok, everypony think of what your scents smell like. Go."

Ticktock had finally finished with the key and turned it in the lock. The large double doors of the tower opened and the inside of Ticktock's home was revealed. It was mostly purple in colour and had a grand clock mounted on the south wall, there was a spiral stair case that went around the edge of the tower and up to a library above that was a kind of lab and above that in the roof was Ticktock's bedroom. Also everywhere there were pictures hanging from the wall which mostly showed a younger Ticktock who had rather spikey hair and also a second mare who had straighter, long hair her body was I kind of ghostly green and her mane was blue like the ocean. If the team looked closer they would see the occasional scorch mark and a pile of scrunched up paper. Ticktock also had a dart board which had a picture of Twilight on it and seemed to have a dart stuck out of it.

 

Ticktock opened the doors for the team "Please enter my 'lovely' home and feel free to have a look around."

Blizzard looked around in awe, "Nice place my man. Pictures everywhere, nice accommodations. Beautiful." He then looked over to pictures of younger Ticktock and tapped Blizzard (wolf) and Tyra on their shoulders and pointed to the pictures while doing a quiet, yet toothy snicker, "Get a load of that... *snickers* "

Tyra entered through the door after Ice, Blizzard crawling in after them. She looked around, noting the...eccentricity of the main room.

 

She perked up from Ice tapping her, then looked at the photos of young Ticktock with a spiky mane. She snickered into her hoof at the sight. Blizzard simply laid down on the floor, rather tired from her journey.

 

The earth mare paused her giggling to notice the mare in the photos with Ticktock, and trotted over for a closer look.

"Who is this?" She asked the unicorn, "Your sister, perhaps?"

Ticktock chuckled at Tyra "No not my sister my mare friend Spectral Gale me and her were inseparable we used to do everything together she was my only friend here really." Ticktock cast a spell which created balls of purple light which began floating around the tower. He then realised Blizzard was laughing at the younger him "Hey what's so funny?"

Blizzard stopped laughing when he heard Ticktock, "Hm? Oh nothing. You just look so adorable. You say that girl was your only friend? Wow, it must've been difficult growing up with only one friend. Trust me, I know your pain." he said as he put a hoof to Ticktock's shoulder. "So....what was best about this place?"

Ticktock pondered for a bit at Blizzards question "Hmmm well I did like the library and the lab but when I got board of that I would go and play some darts." Ticktock picks up a dart with his magic and lands it in-between Twilights eyes "Yes! bulls eye. or should that be ponies eye?"

Tyra grinned widely upon hearing Ticktock had a marefriend. It was always nice to hear about somepony's loved ones.

"Tell us," She chirped, "What is she like? How did you meet?"

 

She laid down next to Blizzard while watching Ticktock throw the dart at the picture of a purple mare. She had heard of this custom of putting the picture of someone you don't like on a dartboard and throwing darts at them to show your contempt. She personally didn't see the reason for it.

"Well how we met was a very funny event to be perfectly honest" Chuckled Ticktock It was around 7 years ago I had just come to Canterlot to begin my studies of magic. Now back then I didn't know my magical potential but basically some of the wealthier Unicorns called me names like street urchin because I wasn't from Canterlot and that was when Gale came in and defended me from them and after that we became the best of friends I think this was because we had similar personalities now you must understand that until I was 15 I was reckless, egocentric and very head strong always trying to prove I was the best and it was the same with Gale every time we had a free day we would go down to the everfree forest to explore and find magical artefacts it was some of the best years of my life."

Blizzard listened throughout Ticktock's story, "Sounds nice. I think this girl would love you especially now. Do you know where she is? When's the last time you talked to her?" he asked as he looked at more of Ticktock's pictures on the wall, "Nice shot...?" he saw Ticktock hit the dartboard.

Tyra smiled widely, enjoying Ticktock's little story. "She sounds like an incredibly nice mare to stand up for you like that!"

 

She glanced around the room for a few seconds, then continued. "Do you know where she is right now? Perhaps she may join us in our fight too!"
